  1. Same issue here…canceled my auto pay and charged me late fee as they want. $10 late fee, $5 extra charge when you pay online…this is ridiculous – Can we do a class action sue together guys?

  2. This place was such a joke. People who work here are so unprofessional. The so called manager was rude and obviously uneducated. Don’t deal with these kind of people, do yourselves a favor.

  3. The worst company to work with. They nickle and dime you for everything. If your landlord/management go through these people, expect ridiculous charges and awful customer service.

  4. What a bunch of clowns. Just took over for the place I live and they are useless. I really find the $8 convenience fee very convenient to pay my bill online as well.

  5. Wish I could rate 0 stars. Service rep was extremely rude and was not able to provide any help with a billing problem that I had. She even threatened me with late payment fees when I was trying to get the billing problem cleared. Very disappointing.

  6. If zero starts were an option……crazy “convenience” fees for paying online. Just all around bad customer service and very shady practices.

  7. There is a reason they have such horrible reviews on google, this company is predatory, corrupt and engages in practices in violation of state and local utility regulations. Customer service staff there are truly atrocious. I would strongly recommend not renting from anywhere that uses AUM.

  8. Zero stars if it was an option.
What a bunch of crooks! I was going to report to the BBB, but it looks like anyone that is forced to use this company already has filed a complaint. Not sure how it’s ethical to charge someone twice the amount of their bill to process a payment online.

  9. It doesn’t matter if you send your payment on time, they will still charge you a $37 late payment fee. They’re a bunch of thieves and we have to bend over and take it because we have no other choice.

  10. Customer Service is generally clueless. Held a check until I got a late charge, blaming the mail, and wouldnt forgive it.
However autopayment online goes seamlessly, and is free.

  11. Worthless. Pay online and there is a $8 fee (that’s almost a 25% of my bill) or mail a check and they will lose it or process it late and charge you a late payment fee. …

  12. Our building went from YES Energy Management to AUM (American Utility Management) now REALPAGE UTILITY MANAGEMENT.
Our bills went from $30 to $100 and more, I call it Mass Fraud! …

  13. My check for September rent (pd in Aug) on landlord’s spreadsheet showed up as processed when in fact it had not even cleared my bank. As I make my Oct payment, I pointed it out. Value-added for prop mgrs, you betcha, lol.

  14. Thieves!! Their practices should be illegal almost like usuary.. They charge 5.34$ “admin” fee and then 7.99$ to pay your bill via credit card.. Can’t pay with a eCheck unless you sign up for automatic deductions.. They don’t even send …

  15. Absolute clueless crooks! You have to pay AUM for gas use, plus pay Nicor gas, rude staff and management. If zero stars were only an option. They will charge you online convenience fees, then add them again to the following month’s …

  16. Fact is this company don’t charge connection fees for all complexes including administrative charges. Fact is apartment complex add and make money out of it. Simply bill don’t come directly from them and have common meter. …

  17. I wonder why the State allows such crooked companies to do business. They have secret contract with property managements so that they can charge you unnecessarily and profit without doing anything for the renters.. I live in Saginaw, MI and …

  18. I would give this place zero stars if i could. i lived in a building with “shared” utilities and i was paying close to $100 for gas, water, and garbage. when was the last time you had to pay close to $100 for any of the above? this was …

  19. As a customer service representative, I rarely complain about customer service, because I know how hard it can be. However, this is my first experience contacting this company. I had to call 3 times on one issue. The hold time was around …

  20. Called and Spoke with Evana. Really wish she would have told me there is an additional charge to set on Online paperless billing? She was so upset and ungrateful maybe because its 9am or maybe its because she hates her job… I tried get …

  21. If I could give AUM zero stars, I would absolutely do so. Our monthly charges have doubled in less than a year with absolutely no improvement in the quality of service. They tack on exorbitant fees and their rate structure is mind-boggling …

  22. I already have to pay my utility company for my light, gas and water, so why should I be paying another company for more utilities? The $8 online fee is a nickel and dime way of squeezing more money out of you since who would actually mail a check? I don’t have anything nice to say about this service.

  23. To use paperless billing (paying online) you must incur a $7.99 convenience fee?! Are you serious, in 2016? To save us both paper and time you are charging me $8? WHY?????????????????????????? (Just paid my Duke Energy Bill online, a one time payment with Speed Pay. Only paid a $1.50 convince fee.)

  24. $7.99 online convenience fee, seriously!? And no option to pay with your bank account online. Also, what is with the AUM admin charge, am I single handedly paying for someone’s job? This is ridiculous. Happy to be moving out of this apartment that I am forced to use AUM’s “service”.

  25. One of the worst companies that exists, on par with Comcast, they charge a 25% “convenience fee” for taking credit cards.. it’s 2018 are you kidding? Head to toe a terrible company and apartment buildings that accept them are equally as culpable – after this move, I’m done with both

  26. I am very disappointed in AUM.
The first reason is that they have a ridiculous $75 penalty for recovering a past energy bill (if you could not get energy hooked up immediately as you move …

  27. Stay away from this utility company. Horrible late fees and online payment is charged $7.99. No other way to electronically pay your bill, only mailing in a money order/check is the “free” way of paying your bill. ABSOLUTE JOKE. It’s 2016 …

  28. Absolutely terrible service. They double charged us (over $600 total) and when I called to issue a refund they said no problem, 5-7 business days. I call again, I get a different answer. I call two more times and still get different …

  29. THIEVES!!! My water and sewage bill more than doubled when the apartment complex changed to this company, as if the apartment complex owning company also shares on the money stolen from the residents. I am single living alone, spend most of …

  30. AUM has already disappointed me. As soon as I moved into my new place, I signed up for auto-billing so I will never be late and would not have to pay a $7.99 convenience fee. Come to find out, it takes UP TO ONE WHOLE MONTH for auto-billing …

  31. I have called multiple times for assistance & clarification which has been decent. However, today was the first time I wanted to swear at the rep. Instead of being understanding & helpful, the lady kept talking down to me. We no longer use …

  32. I didn’t believe the horror stories until I had to go through one myself. I use my Bank’s Bill Pay service so I don’t have to pay fees to pay online (if you pay online with AUM they charge you an arm and a leg). My bank tracks all checks …

  33. If I could give this company 0 stars I would. Their “online convenience fee” is $7.99. The high end of bills for our complex is $39 per month. $7.99 is over 20% of the bill. There is absolutely no excuse and no justification for an online …

  34. Absolutely awful experience. Set up auto-pay immediately upon receiving the first bill, yet it did not apply. In addition to an 8.50 late fee, they charge a 7.99 convenience fee to pay online, which approximately doubles the cost of my bill.

  35. Do not sign up for auto-pay. If you make a payment in between the billing cycles, it doesn’t matter. They will still take out the full amount, then when asked to refund it, you have to wait two weeks to get it returned. …

  36. Such a scam. Make consumers pay a 7.99 fee or go get a check or money order and mail it. You should have more options to avoid a excessive convenience fee. 7.99 is a lot to charge for a utility bill just to pay for the bill. You should …

  37. I have used AUM for one year, because my building required me to. The price they charge you is just ridiculous. And the sad part is that you have no control over it. So whatever they claim to charge you, you just have to pay for it. And …

  38. If I could rate them a zero, I would. I sent in a check that was postmarked 8 days before the due date, yet they still say my payment was 3 days late. Customer service’s solution was to ask me to pay online so they could waive the …

  39. You mean to tell me, that you are going to charge me $7.50 to pay my bill online and call it a convenience fee. I shouldn’t have to pay you to take my money. I am paying you for a service. That is what you call bad business. I have been …

  40. I just moved to MO and this company is a joke and looking at these reviews most people agree with me. They charge $7.99 to pay your bill online!! Why even bother having a website? It’s 2017! I use stamps and the postal service for gifts and …

  41. I’ve been a customer for 5 minutes and I already can’t stand them. $7.99 service fee for online bill pay!?!?! They aren’t even in Minnesota so my only options are to mail a check or pay a ridiculous fee for something that is probably easier to process. Can you make it more obvious that you are digging in our pockets for random money?

  42. Personally, I have never had a bad experience with this company. Although their payment options come with some mediocre fees. If you plan on making a payment, just get the account number from your statement and you better hope your bank (or …

  43. Awful customer support. I signed up for auto-pay, but the language in the confirmation email is not clear – the first line says “no more checks to deal with or late fees to worry about” – but lower down in the email it says “Please review …

  44. Ridiculous scam of a utilities front for apartment complexes. What company in 2019 would in their right mind charge you a higher “convenience fee” of $8/month to pay a monthly bill online instead of by mail? Also had to pay a ludicrous $60 …

  45. Literally the worst bill management company I’ve ever had the displeasure of using. Refuses to allow payment via bank account and charges a RIDICULOUS $7.99 fee for paying with a credit card. Called to have it processes and the ONLY other …

  46. Absolute worst company in history! I received my statement in the mail after the actual bill was due. The company has a ridiculous late fee of $10. Apparently I received the “One time late fee waiver” in 2010 (7 years ago) and they are …

  51. By far, the worst company I have ever seen. They charge obscene utility costs and dont have anything to provide the justification. They charge 7.99 for convenience fee. Customer service is as if it didn’t exist. …

  52. They frequently overcharged me, would let me set up auto-pay and I never even got anything in the mail or any notification of when bills were due. I always would get a notice on my door that I owed about 3 months worth of payments and that …

  53. This service has the most outdated bill pay options that I have ever used. All bills must be mailed 7 days before the due date because of their policy, or they are considered late, and that is the easiest option. Other options to pay …

  54. Wow – a $7.99 “online convenience” fee for payments in 2018. How do I give zero stars, what a poor experience for customers. Especially when you live in an apartment and your bill is $50 that’s well over 10% to make a payment. …

  55. Dishonorable company with absurd late fees and online payment fees. I signed up for auto pay two billing cycles ago, and online it says auto-pay is active, however, the payments are not processing. If a payment is even one day late, it is …

  56. $7.99 for an “online convenience fee” is absolutely outrageous. I’m going to pay it every month though and here’s why. The general consensus is that no matter how early you mail a check or money order in they just happen to lose it until 3 …

  57. Absolutely terrible, had I known beforehand that my apartment company uses this service I would NOT have rented. Absurd admin and “convenience” fees upwards of $8 forces you to mail in your checks or incur late fees that are charged …

  58. 14 years of perfect payment history and they still refused to reverse a $25 late fee on a Autopay web field problem with my new bank account numbers. Worst customer service ever encountered with a utility company

  59. As like every other customer experience – Pathetic and charges unnecessarily charges fees for any and every thing. Who charges so many fees already on the bill and then additional to pay the bill.

  60. This company basically acts as a collection agency for apartment complexes for utilities (that are often included). If you can negotiate cost into your lease before you sign your lease it would definitely be worth avoiding the hassle of …

  61. Unable to do a one time payment online banking information like every other utility company. Charges you a 5$ fee when using a credit card for “convenience” and pushes you to go paperless then stacks fees on it. When I called in the lady …

  62. Disgraceful Company ethics. They never tell you when they cancel your autopay. Don’t notify you either. Then hit you with late fee. you’ll apply for Autopay again but it won’t take affect until after your next bill so you have to use a credit card and pay $5 extra for online fee.
