Went to this hospital in 2018 and hated it. There idea of help is sitting you in front of a tv until your discharge date and they have unprofessional nurses. The “therapist” i saw there was very rude and whenever I told him I was confused about his question he yelled at me and called me and my friend dumb.
terry was the best person i met there, and so were my fellow patients. i met some of the best people in my life here, but it still sucked a lot. most staff automatically assume you’re going to cause trouble no matter what; besides terry.
Was not impressed with this facility, running out of food for one is unacceptable. sleep deprivation is another, how do you expect people to get better when you are keeping them deprived of sleep and medicated. Not allowing contact …

The staff is quite nice, and they did wonders for a loved one, but the organization itself seems to be corrupt. In my opinion, things are designed to maximize ‘bodies in beds’ and profit. Do not forget that this is a business. One example …
I have used Austin Oaks as a referral source for years and have been so happy with the services the patients I’ve sent here have received. My referrals always report back that they felt safe, comfortable and had their needs met while in their care. Definitely recommend.
The Medical Director in charge of patient diagnosis and discharge has regularly violated the Patients’ Bill of Rights as determined by the Texas DSHS. They show no actual belief in the patients that are supposed to be helping. I have heard …
Not impressed. Admitted my child on independent therapist’s advice and withdrew her without proper discharge due to the incompetence of the staff. No one ever knew anything on her status. No doctor ever called back to answer my concerns. …
I am no longer affiliated with this hospital and I by no means speak on behalf of the hospital, its parent company or its investors. What I can say is that the experience I had working for AOH was rocky and rewarding. If I hadn’t of moved …

I was refered to this place by a facility that helped my son in his time of need. As of right now I am second guessing about sending him here since I can’t even get a hold of anyone with Addimissions so he can do their outpatient treatment …
Literally the worst week of my life, the techs obviously don’t know how to treat patients with anxiety. I did something wrong on accident, was screamed at, and sent into a panic attack. they’re also awful to transgender patients, I was sent …
*PLEASE READ THIS IT IS 100% TRUE AND YOU NEED TO BE WARNED**
This place is not helping patients with their disorders, instead they are …
Went to this hospital in 2018 and hated it.
My bf was admitted after having been found 1.5hrs away from where we live, delusional and up for 4days. He was left in a room sitting in a chair in a brightly lit room for 2+ hrs to fill out admission forms. I don’t know what he signed, but …
Immediately ticked when greated at the door. Told I’m not aloud in but yet I’m with someone admitted..
Also was told by social worker visitation was open. NOPE WED 7-8 …
I was at Austin oaks hospital, and all the staff. Was awesome I am sorry I didn’t get name’s. They treated me with the up most respect. People that put negative comments is because they didn’t get it things their way. They have been in …
It’s an ok hospital. Compared to another hospital in the area, AOH lets people go outside and also allows for smoke breaks. Since is a rather newer hospital, it’s also nicer in terms of decor. The nurses (most of whom are male) were good …
Preface: My review is for a family member that was admitted in.
Overall: STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. ONLY GO IF IT IS A ABSOLUTE …
my 14 year old daughter was recommended to go to the inpatient program by Psychiatric Emergency Services in Austin. She had been cutting and been depressed for a long time and when ask by P.E.S. staff if she wanted to go to a hospital she …
A voluntary admission somehow turned into them keeping a patient in longer. At first they said the patient was a danger to society due to a criminal record several months previoius to their admission. Forced the patient to take drugs they …
All the way around not a good place please know as a parent I was told to take my 8 year old son here to get help and to be safe, only to end up with 3 staples in his head. I was given no answers on what happen to my child other then …
The staff is quite nice, and they did wonders for a loved one, but the organization itself seems to be corrupt.
I saw someone start fights just so he’d be in jail instead of this place.
I never received items my parents sent me unless I specifically asked for them. …
Horrible.
I went in for bipolar and schizoaffective and was completely delusional and hallucinating. They cut me off all my meds. My doctor couldnt’get in contact with me …
URGING YOU, DO NOT ADMIT YOURSELF OR BRING ANYONE TO THIS FACILITY for your/their safety and wellbeing. this place is DANGEROUS. I was left so much worse after going in. such a stressful unhelpful suffocating environment. the techs were all …
It has been proven has it not that people in crisis need the support of loved ones? The visition or should l say LACK of it is crazy. My boyfriend has been there for almost a week and l have only seen him for 1 hour. He told me that my …
I am surprised that there is even one nice review on here. This is literally the worst place to send people who need help. The doctors there try to trick you into staying while you are all doped up on drugs. Then they tell you lies like if …
most unfortunately we have a family member w/chronic illness and has had multiple admissions to other hospitals via 911 calls-
due to having multiple admissions /chronic we are UNFORTUNATELY very familiar w/ …
No one wants to go to the hospital, unless they are desperate to find the answers to their pain. Thankfully the nurses and staff had me back on my feet in less than a week. I was grateful for the food, the resources provided, and even a few …
I stayed here for about a week in the young adolescents unit, not sure what its exactly called but they allowed 12-18 year olds there. I have mixed feelings on this hospital. To begin the rooms were nice and they had you shower every night …
Do not go to Austin Oaks Hospital.
Their website makes the place seem like they’re really going to help you with …
My friend went to go see the psychiatrist today and was not seen by a psychiatrist. she was seen by a nurse who immediately walk down to grab her tissues, which was understandable considering the stress that she is under. The nurse then …
I was there from 04 till 06 I was 15 and experienced a tremendous amount of abuse. Multiple staff have been arrested since even the director was arrested for embezzling money. I was physically assaulted by staff daily and reports I made …
No place is perfect, but 2.5 stars? Come on! They pour their hearts out and act in compete professionalism. I think we’re too ready to be negative. I wish no one had to deal with mental health issues, but I’m very thankful and glad …
If I could provide negative stars I would. If you have a loved one going through a mental crisis do not send them here. First of all, the DR didn’t do anything address his condition and they had his name incorrect. I trusted the judgement …
They changed my life! I showed up 100% hopeless and ready to end it. Thanks to all the wonderful staff there they figured out what was wrong, put me on the right medications, and solved twice as many issues as I expected. They even put a …
I felt inclined to share my experience with the Austin Oaks Hospital, where my daughter was an inpatient for 10 days. I decided to wait until a week ater her release in order to write a more objective review now that the situation has …
Nobody likes to admit that they have gone to a psychiatric hospital, but when life falls apart and I need help picking it up, this facility is by far the best in Austin. A series of unfortunate events have lead to a struggle with …
Zero stars. I was severely traumatized from this hell house. The staff didn’t understand my condition. I was thrown in the seclusion room one time and I begged for a shot to help me. The doctor thought it was psychosomatic but allowed the …
Love this place!! I just finished 3 weeks of their adolescent outpatient program and it was very helpful. I was there for depression and anxiety. The staff was extremely nice and cared for each individual patient. The day to day schedule …
Austin oaks suprisingly exceeded my expectations. my son has been hospitalized too many times to count and i didn’t have high expectations since i’ve had bad or neutral experiences at psych hospitals where they always tell you they can’t …
I went to Austin Oaks back in August 2019 and it was a very bad experience. The doctor there just asked the same four questions not even trying to help and the staff we’re really unprofessional. we were having a snack break and the snack …
This facility is a joke, a dangerous joke. My 13-year-old was admitted yesterday on an involuntary 48 hour hold. 24 hours later, the staff called me to obtain my consent for him to take his medication -they had neglected to give him his …
I came voluntarily and Armound threatened to give me a shot during a panic attack. The staff are supposed to help you work through it. I came in for depression and anxiety. That was really messed up and another patient had to calm me down. …
I was a patient 2 years ago and was really scared since I’ve never been in a hospital like this before. The staff does not treat you any differently like some hospitals do. They treat you like a person, and most of the staff love their jobs …
My name is Brandon Morgan. I was admitted here 3 times and the doctor was amazing. People have to understand that everyone in that hospital have mental issues just as I have. The doctor I had was Khan and he was a great doctor and the …
What ever you do, DO NOT have any family member or child go here. They do not communicate, they do not listen to what the root issue is with the patient. They completely regressed our 15 year old and had no clue about getting his medication …
I was remanded to Austin Oaks after a suicide attempt in April 2014 and my experience was harrowing to put it mildly. I verbally abused by both staff and patients daily for the six days I was there. I was administered drugs that clouded my …
Austin Oaks really helped my son. He was brought in on an emergency detention for a suicide attempt a few weeks ago. He was in Georgetown Behavioral 3 weeks prior for an attempted suicide and it was horrible there, so my review will mention …

Voluntary admission for my 11year old to Austin oaks. First night there was an incident a patient created a shank with a tooth brush, I was told it was my daughter did this! 4 hours later they call me saying it was a mistake some other …
I’m writing this on an alternate account as I don’t want people to be in my business, but this place saved me and allowed me to mentally heal when I was unable to do so otherwise. At the time I was in a state of major depression and I …
I was admitted under involuntary status, in October. This establishment was unclean, and unclear. Even during a pandemic I had to ask for a mask for 3 days before I was given one. Even after given direct orders from the doctor I was never …
I myself was hospitalized here in the Adult Unit, I wasn’t in the greatest of shapes when hospitalized. But the staff was friendly and very courteous in making me want to better myself. Everyone has a different experience in this hospital. …
I liked this hospital. Mr Terry is really cool. He helped me so much. He made it so I could talk to people again. Other than him this place is hell.
So overall I like Austin Oaks and think they’re providing great services. I am in the IOP program and I love it. But yesterday I had an experience there that was NOT okay. I am a trans man and I went in for ativan withdrawal. It was pretty …
I saw a friend hide raw food under the chairs in order for them to rot it was funny. Anyways staff were rude and argumentative. The greatest thing they taught me was bipolar mania is the greatest gift to humanity. I never want to be cured again
When I was admitted, they had me put my jewelry and phone in a bag. The next day, they have me sign a separate bag and on the inventory and I noticed it had only my phone, and a charger (which was in a separate bag). I asked about it, they …
I will be suing this facility for false information that got cps involved. I was just trying to get my son help and was treated and spoken to as if I was in the wrong. A staff member with no education in mental health told cps that I was …
This is one of the worst places you could ever go. I am now 16, the first time I went to Austin Oaks I was 11. I have been here about 4 times due to suicide attempts and self harm, and every single visit has been traumatizing. Some staff …
Just got released after a week long stay at Austin Oaks and had a great experience. I’m 16 and was admitted for a suicide attempt and was giving so much support, wether it be with staff members or other patients. I made some great friends …
So i work with most psych facilities in the area. Oaks is the second most dread one. There policies are some of the most obtuse ones we deal with. There policy to hold EVERYONE for a week is the only facility im aware of to do this. …
The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion series has been informative and interesting.
Despite all of the concerning reviews, because we got a referral from a therapist and insurance, gave it a try. The introductory phone call was positive, but the actual admission process for my adult daughter ended up being traumatic..after …
I had a stay in the co-ed unit a few months ago. It was a little chaotic at times, but it’s a mental health clinic. What do you expect? They were nice and accomodating. I always had my questions answered and they treated me with respect. I couldn’t have asked for more.
Austin Oaks provided me with the critical care that I needed at an extremely difficult point of my life. I’m very grateful to the prescribers for their accurate diagnosis, the lead group therapist Zully, the nurses who provided my …
first of all, dont go by the pictures, this place look likes jail. secondly, this place made my mental health worse. go to dell children’s mental health unit instead, staff there actually care about your well being
I was a patient there and they were wonderful. I felt the staff try their best to understand and try to help every patient as much as possible. There were not too many activities because it was the weekend so we basically watch movies, did …
Our Daughter is currently imprisoned against her will at Austin Oaks Hospital after she admitted herself hoping they could make her “feel better”. Now they will not release her, even after 48 hours. She has completed the release request, …
I’ve taken my girlfriend to this Hospital twice. They have the door locked for obvious reasons but there’s never anybody in the lobby to give direction on what you’re supposed to do to get inside for reception. Both times, there was a nurse …
I was given the opportunity to start my outpatient program here. If I did not I wouldn’t be 5 years sober today . The psychiatrist was able to correctly diagnose me and get me on my medication and the therapist was able to help me start my …
My Granddaughter had went to this facility for depression, anxiety & self harm. We could not get her out of there fast enough. The rooms are not separated in a different area between boys & girls. Also there should be kids together with …

10 out of 10!!!! Anthony is amazing !!!!he’s a strong communicator and he expressed his thoughts and communicated clearly and respectfully. Calm, cool and collected !
I am only giving this hospital one star because of the house supervisor Dorothy, the nurse Beth & a few of the techs who were friendly. …
I ran into an issue with a friend who unexpectedly started experiencing some severe mental health symptoms. I was able to get in contact with the admissions director, Sarah. She was very understanding and easy to talk to. Upon arrival the …
Gaslight central. Do NOT go here if you’re trying to just get a simple diagnosis, or else they’ll make other false assumptions about your illness. Dare I say it is the most boring mental hospital of all time. They will make you miss phone …
I went here in June of 2020. My experience was horrible. Out of the four hospitals I have been in, this one is the worst. At one point I asked to speak with the patient advocate, and the nurse and tech who I approached told me I couldn’t do …
This place literally saved my life! The staff was great with the exception of a few. I wasn’t provided an exit survey as some of the other patients mentioned. So I figured I would post a review. Abigail, the therapist was AMAZING! It was so …
These people that work here especially most of the nurses and other staff have hits on there creditals because they put brusies on my arms and my mom reported it to the state and send pictures and they got in trouble and told if it happens …
Most give low review scores because they do not understand what is happening, and feel like victims. I did, too, until I figured out how to think about my stay. …
My 14 year old son was admitted here about a week ago. He has since then been discharged and transferred to the outpatient program. He of course like most teens were resistant to the program but as the days went on he has mentioned that the …
Enjoyed Webinar 1/18 on Life Assisting Interventions & 1/25 Masking and the Burden of being A Strong Black Women both were powerful and enlightening meeting that I was able to enjoy during my lunch break nutrition for body and mind.
All I wanted was an adult assessment…..which was given in the front office….was given a diagnosis that the social worker who “called the psychiatrist” for only to be told there isn’t a diagnosis, lied to several times by the same office …
I was lucky to be taken in by Jai (formal name Peggy) – a champion of the people. I was having what seemed to be the worst day of my life & she made me laugh. It felt like Jai took all my shame and pain away from me & replaced it with …
First of all after reading the reviews I was very skeptical at 2.4. and I will say there is some miscommunication, which is very frustrating. The bottom line is before she went to the hospital she had not left her room or drove anywhere or …
The absolute worst experience ever. These people sent a patient home with prescriptions that required blood work. Did not tell her and she can’t get the blood work right now and now she is 3 days without her main medication. Imagine …
Don’t send yourself or anyone you love and care about to this hospital. You will be safer staying at home, which is horrifying to say. A lot of nurses don’t respect physical boundaries when it’s maybe an emotional time but not unsafe or …
I want to start this off by saying I never write reviews. But I felt that people need to hear the truth about this “hospital”…. Please, please DO NOT take your loved ones here!! If you care about their well being, find another place. We …
