Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Minnesota Reviews ( 120 )

  1. this is terrible, I have been on hold 45 mins this am and another 50 mins this afternoon to get cut off and call back and now be told I have more then a 60 minuite wait. This is terrible!!!

  2. Awful customer service and jasmine said she was gonna hang up on me.. We have called on the same bill over 3 times and still hasn’t been taken care of!!

  3. Did not care for the automated system!!! But once I got to a live person they were awesome answered all my questions and sent me the emails that I needed promptly truly a great experience ☺☺

  4. The customer service line is horrible! They asked me a lot of automated questions to reach the reps, but at the end, it says the out of the business hours. Why don’t they say it when we call them???

  5. Terrible customer service, twice I called for a list of physicians to be e-mailed to me as a member and never received anything. Tried going online to find a doctor with no results. Can I please get some help….

  6. ENROLLED, FOR THE 11TH YEAR (2017), WITH BLUECROSS PRIOR TO ALL THE DEADLINES OF 2016. MANY PROMISES, HOURS ON HOLD WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AND STILL NO ID CARDS OR POLICY CONFIRMATION. IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE THEIR WORD SINCE NO ONE KNOWS WHY …

  7. Blue cross blue shield is a decent medical insurance provider. Decent public health care provider, and one of the more top notch private health care insurance providers.

  8. Nice spot for kids soccer, but the portable bathrooms are often left unserviced. Imagine 100s of kids per week using the portapotty without washing hands and no sanitizer.

  9. They screwed up my account and acknowledge every time I call, but it has taken over 4 hours on the phone because it’s never fixed. Nice person each time. Worthless effort.

  10. Wish they had a negative option. A company that charges more to take care of the vaulnerable, the ones who need it the most. Children. Biggest scam in the insurance industry.

  11. BCBS doubled my rates. When you call to address anything with a rep you have to wait on the phone for an hour. No one has that kinda time so you’re forced to physically drive to their huge campus to speak to someone. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for coverage because blue cross is a sinking ship.

  12. Thank God for people’s reviews! I was about to go with this company due to their fantastic landscaping! But if it wasn’t for other people letting us know that the devil is reincarnating I would’ve gone ahead and been blind-sited! Thank you people so much!

  13. They don’t close until 6:00 ct time..yet i have been hung up on 4 times in a row. ??????? The computer says ” due to an unusually high call volume, we are not able to take your call” I started calling at 4:50 pm. HIRE SOME HUMANS.

  14. Tried 4 times with 4 different phone numbers to reach live assistance in provider CONTRACTING. Kept getting transferred to the same overseas call center referred to as “provider service” (which is an oxymoron). Does anyone actually work in the Eagan office anymore?

  15. Racticing medicine without a lisence. Does not have a client/patient’s best interest in mind – only care about making money. The only good reviews they get are from employees.

  16. This place is notorious for being cheap and making everyone jump through hoops just to deny coverage anyway. Worst of the Blue Cross companies in the country. Other states aren’t this bad.

  17. Love everything about this organization and how kind, professional, thoughtful their services are. I would give 100 stars if I could. Thank you for being Customer obsessed. ❤️💗✅ …

  18. Imagine a company that raises its rates 50% than does not answer its phone for customer service requests. Well you got it Blue Cross of Minnesota wins dumb Ass company of the year.. unreal that this company can operate and stay in business. …

  19. You get the run around for hours. It took 4 calls to see if i qualified for their silver and fit program .One said no, one said it doesn’t exist and one said yes but couldnt tell me how to get a card or sign up. 2 WEEKS LATER I’M STILL WORKING ON IT.

  20. Don’t ever do business with BCBS of MN. They will lie to you over and over and you will have to pay way more than they quote you. I had to pay $500 more for a procedure and BCBS mysteriously “LOST” that recorded phone call. JERKS!!!

  21. For a company that charges outrages premiums you would think they could hire some more people that handle customer service. Waited for over two hours to find out why my preimum went up 50% and was told the rising cost of health care.

  22. I would rather avoid treatment and die than have to interact with anyone representing this company. They are simply some of the worst people on this planet. I don’t know how anyone can get up and go work at this company. They must have …

  23. Awful customer service. Spent hours on phone trying to get a vacation override on an Rx. So many layers of management–BCBS uses CVS to manage drugs–they use another company do to something–then there is some sort of Medical Manager. …

  24. Worst customer service ever. Nearly impossible to find out if a procedure is covered before you go in for it. And every representative I’ve talked to was rude and angry. I would switch insurance companies if I wasn’t locked in by my employer.

  25. I called them 4 times and first 3 calls were dropped due to techinical issues. On the 4th try I got a lady who was extremely short with me and when I asked her questions about my mom’s benefits, she would say “well, what don’t you …

  26. Horrible customer service, called twice, went through all the endless procedures to get to customer service and then when you finally get transferred the last time, the system thanks you and then hangs up on you. Called again, but this time when it hung up on me their computer didn’t even thank me.

  27. Horrible customer service, lost my application and then signed me up for a policy I didn’t even pick out. They claim this is the policy I chosen and I am stuck with it. But they can’t prove any written documentation. Needless to say all our …

  28. Continues to be unbelievable bad – through MN Sure. They continually tell me to call MNSure when it is them that can’t get my deductible figured out. Hour long waits of phone, different answers no answer at all. Can’t answer why they …

  29. I have been on the phone waiting to speak with a customer service rep for 2 hours and 10 minutes and counting. I simply wish to cancel my plan because I am covered by my work. This is absolutely ridiculous. Based on the other reviews it seems this is not an uncommon occurrence.

  30. The customer service is abominable. I’ve been trying for three days to get a human being in their collections department to pay my premium. This last attempt, I was cut off after a half hour wait on the phone by a recording, telling me to …

  31. The absolute worst customer service ever. Spoke to a representative from each department at least 3 times each to find out that no one has any answers. The operator was the most knowledgeable person that I spoke to. Several customer service …

  32. Long time to get ahold of them sometimes but worth the wait. Very helpful and understanding. Especially when when it comes to medical rides and that kind of coordination.

  33. Simply the worst. Not sure it is their fault of the wonderful Obamacare, but if you are self employed healthcare is the CAUSE or more anguish than it cures. I cancelled with BCBS in November and switched to Preferred One but they …

  34. It’s actually a big zero. I never had problems with Blue Cross in the past. Now that they involvled Evicore, everything has changed and not for the better. I’m anxiously waiting for my employer to ask us, if we should change insurance companies

  35. 43 years on earth, never had it this difficult. Now I reluctantly call again to see about getting reimbursed for medical bills we paid because they screwed up TWICE! Thank God JP Morgan Chase dropped these guys and went back to United …

  36. If I could give this company no stars, I would. When I go off the coverage listed in their book and it turns out to be wrong or misleading, they tell me that I should call. Then when I call to ask about my coverage, they tell me they don’t …

  37. I hate your guts Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. I’m going online to pay my annual premium which has increased 216% in the last 36 months….trying desperately to login to your God-awful website which is clearly published on my …

  38. I can’t begin to tell you how horrible this company is. I used to have blue cross blue shield of Illinois and it was a gazillion times better. Their website is absolutely terrible but their customer service on the phone might surprisingly …

  39. Although I almost never write reviews as most reviews are biased, after dealing with BCBS of Minnesota for the last 2 years, I am convinced there is no company as incompetent, that has worse customer service, and as much miscommunication as …

  40. The amount of times BCBS has lost faxs/prescricptions/letters is so embarrassing it hurts.. Actually hurts. THis is an insurance company that the state does business with and publicly denounces at the same time and it reeks of laziness. …

  41. Contacts me on multiple occasions to make sure I haven’t been in an accident due to chiropractic care claims so they can relieve themselves of the liability… – and again to make sure that because my special needs daughter receives state …

  42. My surgery was denied because of “policy”. Despite the fact that I have a fractured spine, have no feeling in my left leg and I have to use a wheelchair because my back pain is so bad. Only notified the Friday before a Wednesday surgery …

  43. Horrible, just plain horrible. Seriously a 45 min wait to talk to someone to get help logging into account then to find out they were closed at 5. Called the next day another 35 – 50 min wait just to find out when my bill is due. Seriously …

  44. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I cancelled my dental insurance with them on the first of the year when I started a new insurance at a different dental company. I had auto bill pay and they are still pulling money from me. I …

  45. Incredibly bad – misled by agent as to availability of certain durable medical equipment that is vital for me. Phone agent confirmed I could get the equipment as often as I needed it. I changed insurers because of that only to find out I …

  46. They do not work with the best pharmacy I’ve ever had. And also the closest, CVS. I now have to drive miles for my prescriptions and it’s not even a safe location.

  47. I want to take a little time to thank Cindy in your customer service department. I received an invoice from a facility in Arizona that I thought had been taken care of but alas it hadn’t. I talked to Cindy who reviewed my record and saw …

  48. Look, a lot of reviews people will just be angry and post a review so you sometimes take them with a grain of salt. Blue Cross of Minnesota? I feel disgusted even giving them one star. I am in the insurance industry, and their claims …

  49. I work for a clinic, and this insurance company is impossible to deal with, the coverage is horrible, and the provider website lies on coverage. Just today I called on services denied when the provider website said they would be covered. I …

  50. You might as well not have insurance if you’re part of their restricted program! Appeals are practically impossible and you can never even get ahold of the restricted program line, it just automatically sends you to a voicemail line and you rarely get calls back the same day. Awful insurance

  51. Denied my gender confirming surgery that my doctors wrote letters saying is a medical necessity, and then later denied medication to treat gender dysphoria. I have been on HRT for 1.5 years for gender dysphoria. I feel the worst I have ever felt in my entire life. I don’t know how much longer I can take this abuse from BCBS.

  52. I pay them 13K a year for them to deny me basic care. Was told by some nurse who sits in a cubicle all day that I didn’t have enough “headaches in a row” to warrant an MRI. Meanwhile, I was on day 20 of a blinding migraine. Run, do not walk, to another provider.

  53. Called their 800 number to purchase health insurance as I have just moved from out of state, spoke with a very unfriendly woman with a southern accent, asked to speak with a supervisor and was told I would receive a call back. I never did and I took my business to HealthPartners and received wonderful service.

  54. All you need to do is look at the palatial buildings they occupy, and how many millions the CEO makes every year, and think that ALL THAT MONEY came from denying care. People pay premiums, care is denied or reduced, and the millions saved …

  55. Coordinating their coverage with the care providers is an absolute nightmare. They have repeatedly changed prescription coverage and imposed arbitrary limits on various medications. However the thing that gets to me personally is that they …

  56. Make your own choice but at least be informed. The customer service is almost impossible to use, I have been redirected with multiple transfers (3, 4, even 5) and sometimes the wait between these has been well over an hour. I’ve waited 24+ …

  57. So BCBS of MN approved two back procedures that they require before you can get a RF treatment. I did those two procedures and the results were outstanding and were reported as such. When it came time in early December to do the RF …

  58. We have to CALL every month, sometimes twice a month, to update her Coordination of Benefits information and her claims are not being paid as they should my daughter keeps getting bills when she has TWO INSURANCES THROUGH THE SAME COMPANY …

  59. They bill me for insurance, they won’t give me my information for pharmacy. Once I get someone on the phone, he said to call back on Saturday so he could give my information to the pharmacist, the call back number went to a scam survey… I am paying for insurance and not getting any coverage.

  60. Manager there look as though they woke up and rolled out of bed and went to work, knowing your meeting with folks that day. I felt lots of preferential choosing to Caucasian folks, not cool! We pay for insurance/ benefits as well!!!!Our cash is green too….

  61. I have been without a continuous glucose monitor for 4 months now, each time my doctor sends in a prescription, it is denied. There is always some lame excuse, I have jumped thru the hoops and rings of fire, but let’s not do the best thing for the patient. Worthless insurance, if you even want to call it that!

  62. I’m sick of reading all these awful reviews. This company must change for the betterment of the community. Having lived in Minnesota for almost 20 years, this is not acceptable behavior.

  63. Can’t even log into my account, it keeps asking for a code emailed to me, I never got it, and they don’t even have an email portal on their website, not good customer service.

  64. I was very pleased at the service that I received when calling Blue Cross Blue Shield. I called inquiring a dentist appointment for my daughter and they found local places that accept my insurance as well as called the dentist and made the …

  65. Customer service is nice and acts like they care but don’t do anything to help you. I actually don’t know what their job is…just answer the phone and make false promises.

  66. Any company reliant on paper processes in a post-covid world is destined to fail. Any submission/correspondence related to out of network claims (cheaper than using in network providers even with larger discount) requires submission of a …

  67. Complete garbage online website and mobile app. Login has not worked in months, and just says “Sorry, please try again later”. How an insurance company this large can operate in 2023 and not have a basic working mobile app or online service is absolutely insane.

  68. They are a great company unless you need them to cover any vital medication. They will deny any medication if it costs them anything. They value their bottom line over your well-being.

  69. Stated a service was covered then denied it. How can you possibly navigate insurance that you can’t trust when you call to ask is this covered and they say yes only to find out it’s not. Also couldn’t get online because the account …

  70. The Minnesota blue Cross restriction program. I know how to beat it. Here is how:OK so I got notified by my case manager at blue plus that I was going to be placed in that program and if I didn’t want to I was going to have to appeal. So I …
