The new online appointment system is great. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. It is unfortunate, however, that the staff processing paperwork is still just as rude and disgruntled as ever.

It was a fast and efficient visit. Well done DMV. Ouch that was a fluke. Just went back and it was an hour and a half to do a 10 minute thing. Started with the lady saying we couldn’t do what we knew we could and after 6 calls to supervisor finally got it done.
It is a DMV, so the experience is what you might expect at such a place. But the reps are helpful and try their best to point you in the right direction.

Appointment times are the best!!! Omgosh! My appointment time was for 4:40pm. I arrived at 4:30, was welcomed in, got my “ticket”by 4:35 and was back in my car at 4:46! Amazingly efficient, low stress, no crowd in the waiting area.

I ordered/renewed my liscence in may- its going to expire in 5 days and i still have not received it and have only been road-blocked every attempt to reach out for assistance. Order it a year in advance if residing out of state (ex: college).
Terrible services, rude employee, give you excuses for not able to get requested services done even when you have all the required documents/forms listed on their website. Lived in multiple states and dealt with several DMVs, CT DMVs are definitely by far the worst in my experience.

It didn’t feel great that they had an option to change my gender on my license to non-binary to be correct but wouldn’t actually do it. The DMV’s absolutely ridiculous. It is beyond difficult to speak to anyone live. I’ve been trying for 2 months now. The hold times are anywhere from 1.5 hours to 2 hours. I followed the instructions to email my request and also the usps. No response. DMV has to do better!
Going to the DMV is always an inconvenience, and rarely anyone is happy to be there, both customers and employees. Most of the time I’ve had employees that are at least helpful, if not outright friendly. Only once did I have to come back because the employee wouldn’t help me.

Vast improvements have been made. Unfortunately an appointment is still required as of Jan 2023. It’s easy to do online but I had to wait 3 weeks for one. Otherwise the process is much faster with minimal waiting. Book an appointment ahead of time if you might need one, you can always cancel or reschedule.
