Electricities of North Carolina – Huntersville & Cornelius Reviews ( 71 )

  1. i have called 17 times and ive been hung up on den when phone answer they are saying this is not a fax just cause i have a out of town number ypu should still answer with respect not jus hang up on me

  2. The worst part is, we are forced to choose them for service in the location we live. When you create no competition, there’s no reason for them to work hard or even care about their customers. They have your hands tied and there’s nothing you can do. I really hope someone buys them out.

  3. Horrible communication about closing an account and getting a refund. Never sent a final bill, subtracted it from the deposit and then took over 5 weeks (and counting) to get our deposit

  4. No oversight, no governing body for checks and balances according to business manager, not governed by nc utilities commission, so no oversight, they continue to overcharge and refuse to do any studies to check the efficiencies of their meter readings…Please Duke Power, buy them out, please

  5. Very inconsiderate they disconnect my service while my Kid was online in class and please note I have never fell behind on my bill it’s due to COVID they better know I will be monitoring my bill closely and their reconnection fees are …

  6. Very very pricey. 13 cents a kwh one payment and then randomly to 16 cents per kwh. Well above bc average price for kwh. We are in an apartment and lived in Boston previously, we paid less for electric in BOSTON.

  7. Cannot EVER get through to anyone. Worst customer service. Nothing is automated. Will give you zero notice on a disconnect and will disconnect for literally 10 dollars and then charge a reconnect fee. Ridiculous!!

  8. I’ve lost power three times in the past three weeks. You never know when your power will go out. I thoroughly enjoyed losing power while cooking Sunday dinner. Thanks for nothing Electricities, you’re terrible!!!!

  9. Our power goes out ALL the time, and always at the worst times (dinner time). It has currently been out for about an hour and there’s no way to reach the company outside of business hours. They can’t/won’t do ebilling, so this is the ONE …

  10. I pay on the same day every month and these people always manage to come and disconnect my power AFTER the payment is made & refuse to restore service until the reconnect fee is paid. I hate this bullsh.t company with a passion. Money games

  11. They will still send you an actual bill instead of an email or other online reminder. It is very inconvenient for people who travel and are not able to get their mail on a regular basis. …

  12. Not helpful in the slightest, guy answered the phone clearly frustrated and literally hung up on me. I was calling due to a power outage and when I asked “How long until it’s fixed” he said “no idea” I followed up asking what the issue was, which is was led to the hang up on their end. Nioce.

  13. Very unreliable utility power provider. Live in Northstone country club and we have our power go on and off along with the surrounding area neighborhoods at least once a month! Please Duke energy buy this small company so we can have …

  14. Took about 3 months to change a street light bulb after calling 2-3 times. Power has gone out 3 times in the past month. No online account access/payments, what the hell is paper bills these days?!?!

  15. This company is the worst. They cut the electric off cause I was $16 short. No, call ahead to let me know I’m about to be behind in payment. I’ve never experienced this kind of customer service and no sympathy what so ever. Duke energy …

  16. I shouldn’t even have to give them one star to write this review worst company I have ever dealt with they disconnected my power 3 weeks ago and still have not turn it back on we are in the middle of a pandemic and I was always on time with …

  17. This is a tricky review to write. I think Electricities is unfortunately caught up in all the growth and expansion that Huntersville is experiencing right now. What I mean by that is they have little to no control over the contractor …

  18. Cut Power on 7/13 over a $65 bill that was overdue from 6/14 WOW! Not even 30 days… This company is horrible. And it’s 90 degrees today.

  19. Would give a zero if I could. Worst customer service on the planet. I normally do not give reviews, but they are so bad I feel like I have an obligation to try and save as many people from using this company as possible. If you have a choice, stay away and save yourself the headache and frustration.

  20. The worst company I’ve ever had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with. Terrible communication and customer service, they have a complete and total lack of urgency with no regard to how it effects the customer. The power is out at least …

  21. Terrible company. Had my number wrong and disconnected my services while both my parents are dying. They kept saying they called and left messages – on the wrong number – as justification for a $40 reconnect fee. Have a heart. And a brain. …

  22. I read some of the negative reviews and I just had to chime in. We have lived in Huntersville for 20 years – and Electricities has been great at restoring power after outages – where we were up in a matter of hours, other surrounding areas …

  23. Place is a scam. There is no autopay option and they shut your power off for $40? ..and charge you a reactivation charge. Of course they give you a “friendly reminder call” and then shut your power off the next day. I’ve had my power …

  24. This company is Horrible! They charge a late fee when you’re NOT the one paying late! You set up bill pay and it comes out of your account ON TIME, AND EARLY, and the Bank pays on time, but the POSTAL SERVICE whose been slowed due to …

  25. Worst power company. I think they wholesale from Duke Energy so they have to charge higher rate than duke. Also higher late fee, no ebill, still send out paper bill each month. Come on, it’s 2020. I think they will find every little way to …

  26. Competition breeds innovation, and they clearly have neither. Their website is so outdated that Flash Player (discontinued last year) won’t run the usage calculator so that feature is unavailable, autopay isn’t available, they wastefully …

  27. Worst customer experience and they are not nice. I don’t know how is this company stay in business. I specifically call the company prior my move in date. After a month I moved in I realized I have not been billed for my first statement. …

  28. Seems to be the norm with them that they give you a bill due date then shut off your power before said date claiming a phone call (never happened) or a letter in the mail (also never happened). Then charge a $30 re connection fee when they …

  29. I wish I could give ZERO stars!!! This is the absolute worst power company I have EVER dealt with. NEVER have I had to have my power disconnected while with Duke Energy. Even during the pandemic they are not willing to give people a chance …

  30. I was on hold for hours to transfer service with no interruption. BART put me on hold to the point I drove to the building and knocked on the door and was told I should hang up and call again. I did that and he answered right away. I was …

  31. What’s the point… when you’re stuck, you’re stuck. TERRIBLE customer service. They disconnect your power “on accident” and can’t say when it will be turned back on that day…… and it’s 100 degrees in a home that I am taking care of someone elderly.

  32. Out of town for most of January, everything turned off, no lights, no major appliances used, thermostat turned down very low, everything unplugged except fridge and water heater, still got a bill 43% higher than December. Explanation from …

  33. This is THE WORST power company I have EVER dealt with. I came home from work to find my power disconnected, when I had just paid off my bill during the last payment cycle and my bill isn’t due for 3 more days. I called as soon as I …

  34. I have been with a lot of power companies in my life in the moving around I have never never had this kind of customer service they are the rudest people and they will lie to you and then they’ll turn around and charge you for things that …

  35. I wish I could leave a zero, please stay away from this company if you have any option! As others have warned they will turn off your power without contacting you after 25 days. I asked for proof that they tried to contact me but they were …

  36. Absolutely the worst. This website looks as if it was created in 1980 and half of the links don’t work or load to a third party service that Electricities themselves has no control over. There is no option to automatically pay your bill …

  37. The WORST! I’ve moved 3 times in 5 years while in Huntersville & have had 3 different electric companies. Electricities has been the worst experience by far! Power goes out ALL…THE…TIME! Unfortunately they are the company I’m stuck with now …

  38. Terrible company, worst customer service representatives. If you have an amount listed on your bill, you better call to make sure that is the amount needed to sustain services because they will disconnect you for an amount not listed on …

  39. There’s always a power outage and we the customer’s have to just be okay with that. However, if you need a bit of lead way with your bill there’s no understanding and your power is immediately cut. Poor customer service, I wish there was another company to use in this area at this point.

  40. If I could give a 0 I would. Our power continuously goes out for no reason and it is getting really aggravating. I don’t understand why don’t have a choice to use Duke Energy or a established electricities company who has the appropriate infrastructure to deliver quality customer service to their clientele.

  41. If I could put a 0 I would…There is zero option to use Duke Energy or somebody else more reliable. The power is constantly OFF!! We lose power once or twice a month, I have never lived anywhere where this happened before. There should be a major credit back to the customers who are dealing with this constant disruption!

  42. Unbelievable -I missed one payment and it rolled over to the next one and I paid the billing in full . No notice came in the mail they will be cutting my power off-and then they said they had a bad number and tried calling -asked what was …

  43. The power went out in my Cornelius neighborhood. I called this company’s number from their website at 4:13 and a technician was in front of my house withthe power back on by 4:30. Wow! I know all issues aren’t that easy to fix, but I was grateful by the efficiency and service.

  44. Big thanks to the crews who quickly resolved a power outage in Wellsley Village (Cornelius) on 1/5/2023. They responded & restored power within an hour! A failed power lead was found that only affected a portion of our street. The guys were very friendly and were happy to answer my questions. Great job!

  45. this company pays someone to drive to your home and shut off your power without any email, text, letter.
They could make it simple for customers to set up auto pay…they don’t. Switching to Duke today, what a joke.
