I had no idea I had a bill due until I got a call from a collector and the key is that I never received any service! This is a disgrace and needs to be resolved asap!
Just adding to the collection(s) of 1 star reviews because the first time I learned about my bill from this company was because a collection agency sent it to me.
I got a collection threat 12 days after going to the ER. WHY DOESN’T THE HOSPITAL TELL US THEY DONT HAVE THEIR OWN DOCTORS. Never got a bill from ECC. We must all be nuts to put up with this.
This place sent a whole emergency hospital to collections and I knew nothing about and I am irate. They’re saying they mailed me statements and I paid nothing then please tell me where all my money went. Once I get my receipts together I’m suing them for ten times the amount.
My insurance said they covered everything then get billed from the Saint Johns can’t find anything I owe. Saint Johns transferred me to the emergency care consultants phone it was different then what on amount owed they could not find anything went though all options think it is a scam
I’ve never been to this place. I only even heard about them when they sent me a “bill” though a “debt collector.” Only doctors I have seen are at United Hospital or my regular doctor. This is shady and I would like to know how they got my information.
We’re fortunate enough to have good insurance, and had reached our out-of-pocket maximum for the year. Our insurer paid ECC PA’s claim at their negotiated rate (a pretty normal 67%) and confirmed that we owed $0. However, ECC PA immediately billed us for the remainder. Balance billing is illegal in Minnesota.
Same story as everyone else here. Never got a letter, or a bill about an extra $700 for an emergency room visit. Not sure why they didn’t bill my insurance and instead sent it to collections. I will dispute this, and I will be reporting …
After multiple run-around phone calls with my insurance and ECC, it was determined that the procedure was coded correctly and I do, indeed, owe $925 for a less than 2 minute procedure done by a PA that has been out of school for less than a …
Illegal practices. As others stated, the first time I was made aware that I had an outstanding bill with them was when I received a bill from a debt collection agency. I will be taking legal action.
This is the worst provider group I know. Our son was a direct admit during the strike and we were forced to be held in the ED where the physician from Emergency Care Consultants absolutely did nothing. By that I mean no exam, no orders, …
It looks like this is a real common occurrence with this group. I too was unaware that I owed anything until I received a collections notice. According to the collection agency, they had my address wrong. It was sent to collections after …
I’m appalled, I was actively making payments on my bill and they STILL sent it to collections! I can’t believe it I’m shocked, this company is just another scam. Save yourself the headache and work with a different company. This is a joke. Unbelievable
I wish I didn’t even have to give them 1 star. Who even are these people? I went to the emergency room almost a year ago and with my insurance, all I pay is $100 co-pay for emergency room visits. Paid that right when I got the bill and …
they sent me to collections for a bill I could have paid for but I never got a bill until a collection agency sent me a bill. Since the explanation of benefits is in there name and not the collections name. I had to do a lot of extra paper work just to pay the bill.
I had never heard of Emergency Care Consultants until I got a letter from a collections agency this week. This was the first communication I’ve gotten at all. …
First, This group had a 5 Star rating by me up until yesterday. I was seen at United Hospital in the ER in Dec of 2013. I received excellent care in my time of need for a kidney stone. All bills were paid up by April of 2014, as my …
Updating my below review: After 3 months of waiting, phone calls and holding, ECC did reimburse about 70% of the ER charges – better than nothing. But a whole lot of hassle that should have never happened in the first place. The one …
Emergency Care Consultants mailed our bill to the right street name but the wrong house number, so we never received their bill. Instead of googling our names to find our correct house number when their bill was returned as undeliverable, …
As seen and talked about in previous reviews, my significant other paid for his ER visit with woodwinds in total on 9/24/19 after getting a few hours of IV fluids, pain meds, and about an hour of heart monitoring for a severe allergic …
After my short procedure in the ER room I received two bills one from the hospital I was seen at and another from ECC. I contacted both parties to sort this out, I discovered the hospital bills for the use of facilities and ECC bills for …
I went to Woodwinds hospital in Woodbury back in December before Christmas for a deep cut on my hand. The hospital billing department confirmed their bill covers the hospital bill and the doctor/hand repair. I don’t understand why I’m …
I paid over $2000 for an ER visit Feb 4, 2019. Today I’m getting another bill for $272.01 from Emergency Care Consultants which is apparently 43 days past due. I dont know how it’s possible to have this come up almost a year later. I talked …
I live in Canada, I had an emergency visit, was there for 8 hours, seen a doctor one time for 5 minutes. One month later get a call from a collections agency asking me for a significant amount of money. I had never received a bill as of …
I have been a patient for over 20 years with this practice group. Whether when I was employed by one of the hospitals which they provide services for or after I left my position, I have never received anything except thorough, professional …
After reading other reviews I feel the need to share my experience as it seems this is a common theme with this company. I had no idea I owed $660 until a collections agency sent me a bill in the mail. I was baffled since I hadn’t seen any …
Horrific Billing Practices
I was seen at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in the emergency room on 12/28. With the Abbott Northwestern bill, there was no problem – I received it a few weeks …
How is it that the billing department at Emergency Care Consultants is not hearing what people here are having such an issue with – stop sending people to collections without working with them first!!! My experience? We were paying monthly …
I never received a bill until I got a notice from a collection agency THREE weeks after my initial service. They are awful and effecting numerous patients credit due to a “billing system error”. If this has also happened to you, I recommend suing them.
Like other people, I was sent to collections without notice. They sent me one bill, I went on their website less than a week later and set up a payment plan — and printed out the confirmation screen. Then a few months later I get a notice …
I had my mother at the ER on 12/23/2020. On March 16th, 2021 Emergency Care Consultants billed my mother not using her insurance. I have supplied insurance online, email and verbally over the phone since 05/02/2021. Each time I call I am …
I too have just received a first bill for my daughter saying they are sending it to collections, no date of service or explanation of what the bill is for. I can’t tell if her insurance has been processed. Ridiculous.
Update (1 to 3 stars) 1/21/22: Talked with an employee, Renee. She has been the most professional to deal with at ECC. She laid out an approach to have the billing code reviewed, and is working on an acceptable resolution. If only the …
Got a bill…paid it right away. A month later I get a final notice from collections. I had to send them screen shot of payment made and they still could not locate it. Also, it said press 1 for English; however, I could not understand the gentleman speaking as it was not clear English.
Emergency care consultants is a joke. I spoke to a very rude person who said I couldn’t set up a payment plan. If you ever receive a bill from them expect to be sent to collections after one bill. They don’t understand not everyone can pay …
I received a bill in the mail for the remainder of the balance after my insurance went through (BlueCross BlueShield) after visiting the ER with my daughter and paid that (around $500 – seemed a little higher than usual but I paid it). …
My wife and father received care from ECC and it was superb!!!
Like other people said, billed by two entities for one visit. Very annoying and not transparent
I never write reviews and they had the WORST customer service in their billing department. Wow.
Unclear to me what this organization is, how they relate to the emergency room visit, or why they sent a bill to me and not the hospital.
I had no idea I had a bill due until I got a call from a collector and the key is that I never received any service! This is a disgrace and needs to be resolved asap!
We’ve never been here but they sent an 800$ bill to my gf from 2019. This is wrong and immoral.
Update- I can’t even call them.
they put the wrong address in my file and never received a bill. until I received a call from collections 3 months after my visit.
My provided services were excellent. Dealing with their billing department is another matter. Absolute worst service I have ever had to deal with. …
