Fairbanks Memorial Hospital Reviews ( 99 )

  1. If I could put negative stars I would. What a waste of a co-pay!! I thought since they were partnering with mayo clinic the quality of service would be better..so wrong!

  2. So going to the hospital is never fun but my wife had a serious condition and had to stay in the hospital for a little over a week. Between the doctors and nurses this place was above and beyond great.

  3. I am in town for work and needed medical attention for an ulcer. The staff was quick, helpful, and polite. I was in and out with medication. Keep up the good work.

  4. Very hit or miss on quality of service. Somedays they are great, other days not so much. They have gotten better since I first used them years ago. Where else can you go in a medical emergency?

  5. The hospital released my mother who has dementia. Not to the care of anyone. She is literally wandering the streets of Fairbanks. If you need care, I recommend going to a veterinarian before these people.

  6. Doesn’t give mothers the right to pick and choose what they do here. Also harasses mothers after birth and making them think they are stupid and have 0 rights to what they wish to do. I seriously, don’t recommend this hospital shame on you guys. You need to shut this hospital down because, you practice evil Morales.

  7. Absolutely the worst help I’ve gotten from anybody at any hospital in America I would rather die on the side of the road and get help from these people absolute trash I think the doctors name was Liz most unprofessional Incompetent group of …

  8. Place is absolutely garbage, they have no training in the ER to handle high stress situations. Docs and nurses are just all about their money and not the patients. Zero bedside manners

  9. These people lie in your medical records and they don’t ask what your symptoms are nor actually run any test. These people pretend to be medical professionals. They’re not really. They don’t know much. Had a doctor Google symptoms of an overdose. I can Google myself.

  10. Only hospital around. The ER is usually relatively fast, but if you just need an urgent care, there are other places in town that are faster. Try First Care if you are in a hurry and it’s not life threatening.

  11. My son has thrush which wasn’t diagnosed by the ER doctor. My son is 5 weeks old with an all white tongue, rash on his face and problems spitting up and coughing. She said it was just a virus. I got no meds and no diagnoses. I have since confirmed that he has thrush.

  12. One star because if your Spouse is brought in to the ER, you’re not allowed in. Even if you wear a mask, sanitize your hands, etc. I’m not sure the words exist to explain how upset I am with this hospital. What a garbage place.

  13. I don’t remember anything about the hospital because I was a baby, but my parents bought a green bunny stuffed animal from their gift shop, and I still have it. 😄 …

  14. Wow never have I walked in to a ER and not one person but me and the nurse. They got me in and out in 30 min. They were caring and smiles were nice to see! Thank you lady’s!!!!

  15. I was in ER for an accident. Between the doctor and the female nurses they made me feel so safe, they have the experience and the knowledge and also the ‘heart’ to make you feel you are not alone… Thanks!

  16. They give you a schedule for your cancer treatments. What time to be there and what time you will finish. All bs. They have continuously had the same lame excuses. “Busy, or miscommunication. ” We plan our lives around this schedule and …

  17. have been to the hospital twice in two different occasions and both time the billing has managed to do something incorrectly. For the second time I have been dealing with an issue with one of the bills for over a year, and every time I call nothing is resolved even though they promise me to get the problem fixed.

  18. Our local hospital needs to have a bedside manner checkup. There is a real need for social workers or therapists in the ICU to help families cope with a sick or dying family member and share resources in our community.

  19. Insensitive and incompetent are the words that come to mind when thinking about FMH. They terminated a disabled veterans spouse from the NICU on veterans day. They did this because after 3 months of a 6 month training they didn’t train her …

  20. Place is bull! Dr’s are rude! Go in for a cyst on my ovary & needed it removed. I waited 3 n hlf hours and they didn’t even give me IB 800 after i was in tears asking for something! Also know someone who got into a motorcycle accident, face …

  21. If you have a serious issue and need help right away they don’t care , they say first come first served ,even if there are more urgent emergencies coming in. The ER personal up front to check people in seriously needs to be more professional and compassionate. They rather sit around and gossip than do their job,

  22. Terribly callous, condescending behavior from the nurses. I tried to talk to one of them about this, and she wouldn’t even listen to me. She said she “wouldn’t be lectured” by me, and walked away. They deal with people who are in pain …

  23. When I was admitted to the 4th ward (wasn’t exactly a high time in my life) they never bothered to try and see if my billing information should be updated. The last time I was in the hospital was when I was born, so you’d think that’s a …

  24. Been here twice. Both times I have received no medical treatment (first time they said it was probably a virus and would get better, second time they said they couldn’t really do anything but if I was still bleeding tomorrow then I should …

  27. My daughter has been to Porter twice and both experience have been negative. She is young and having many medical issues including drastic changes in heart rate. Her internal medicine doctor is concerned (he sees her once a month for 1 …

  28. Horrible hospital. Don’t come here unless you want incompetent health care providers. No sense or diversity and unequal healthcare to everyone.

  29. They are very unprofessional. I wanted no intervention but the doctor ASSAULTED me and popped my water without consent or even any type of permission. My husband tried to stop her. They threatened security on me for my nursing toddler who …

  30. Sitting in here now in lots of pain, no one asked my level of pain, or offer anything to help with the pain. Doctor come back in to see me was very sorry, and explain why I had to wait before they could offer me something. The nurse is very polite, and has a fun upbeat personal.

  31. They weren’t great before COVID-19. But same could be said for the cafeteria food. Was decent prior to COVID-19 now the cafeteria employees play on their phones while the three pizzas they put out have probably been there since 9 am and it’s not 4:30pm. Gross. I will never eat there again.

  32. My experiences at FMH were very good. We had a cancer diagnosis on my daughter here, who was also born here. A few gripes: my daughter’s mother was ignored after the birth, when she kept asking for help with an issue that turns out, she was …

  33. Absolutely worst and most uncaring team of doctors. My mother came into the ER with stroke symptoms and her care team didn’t even follow protocol or run the tests needed to rule it out! They didn’t listen to her when she advocated to …

  34. The hospital staff is amazing here. We are from out of town and had to bring my mom to be looked at for breathing issues. We were in/out in 2 hours. Each and every person we met, from the reception to the doctors were very caring and thorough. Awesome hospital!

  38. Competent MD’s/DO’s, outstanding nurses and techs, housekeeping staff kept room in excellent shape. This place rivals a multi-million hospital system we have in WA, MultiCare, that is our primary care center. Only thing I would improve on …

  39. I went in at 3:45 am, 2/3/2019, Sunday morning after having a sharp pain in my liver area after 12 hours. Not being able to sleep, pale, extremely weak, had the chills, vomiting and feeling constipated. I never go to the doctors for …

  40. Being from the lower 48 delivering a load in Alaska, i had to call an ambulance to take me to hospital. I have nothing bad to say about this place. 👍 …

  42. I went in with major back pains and other problems from a recent accident I was in from being hit by a drunk driver. I’ve been going to this hospital for over 20 years not once did I ever get treated by a physicians assistant until …

  43. My mother has been here 6 times ,SIX. For chest pain, the last time while she could barely breathe and we were forced to sit in the waiting room for 2 hours!!!!!! Shes a heart patient( triple bypass) and she could have died! Her blood pressure was so high she was boarder line stroke!

  44. Brought my son to the ER straight from the airport. He was discharged from a hospital in a different state and was told to head straight to the ER at Fairbanks memorial to be admitted. It’s been over 5 hours and we haven’t been seen. The staff is rude and unhelpful.

  45. I just got out of the hospital for appendicitis (and subsequent appendectomy). The treatment I received, from the ultrasound to the CT scan, from the ER to an overnight stay in a hospital room, and my surgery and recovery, I was treated …

  46. We were visiting Alaska from Canada and my husband felt sick. Being doctors ourselves, we knew that this was something that needed ER visit. We were amazed at the care we received. The ER doctor and nurses were professional, treated us with …

  47. I don’t even know where to start, just a terrible experience start to finish. My wife, who’s 7 months pregnant went to the ER with bad cramps, shortness of breath and poor vitals. It was decided she’d be seen in the ER and not by the …

  48. Poorly trained staff lead to me walking the entire hospital to the imaging center and waiting for no one to show up and walking all the way back to the ER to check in late. Normally not an issue, but late term pregnancy makes long walks hard because of having to pee all of the time.

  49. Excellent ER went in by ambulance after a hunting trip where we were stranded due to weather and I was diagnosed with diabetes horrible news but Dr’s ,nurses and all staff were great Excellent bedside manner and really took care of me one ER nurse in particular was Deb that went above and beyond to keep me informed and comfortable

  50. A little over a month ago, my wife gave birth to our beautiful daughter. The staff were kind, compassionate and respectful. We are so grateful for all the care of FMH and my wife and I both agree Dr rader is truly the best!!!!!!!!

  51. Where do I even begin? Multiple people I know have complained to me about the hospital’s carelessness, a friend of mine left the hospital after surgery with an IV still in their arm. Not only that, but they’re still visibly in pain and only received Tylenol for their pain.

  52. The only redeeming quality about this hospital is the nurses. The last year I have been there more times than I would like to say due to complications from surgeries and I have had nothing but poor experiences with the physicians and the …

  53. My dad was medivaced to Fairbanks memorial last night. He can’t see and they merrily sent him somewhere early this morning. He is not at the hotel that they said he’s at, and he can’t see enough to find someone at the hotel. I can’t …

  54. We were finishing our Alaskan Cruise in Fairbanks, when my 87 year old father was admitted into the hospital with pneumonia. The nurses, staff and doctors were excellent.

  55. I wish I could put no stars, it’s sad that this hospital is an option for us Alaskan residents because they are complete trash. It’s been over a year since I’ve given birth at this facility and my insurance has paid all the bills and this …

  59. I have been receiving bills and health information for an adult ex-stepdaughter who is 27 years old. I informed the hospital of the mistake and violations. I haven’t been apart of this person’s life for over 10 years. Again, she is a 27 yr …

  60. Outstanding.! Ok back home and time to reflect on our experience after about a months time. The entire staff from the emergency room check in to the lunchroom cashier could not have been anymore professional and friendly to our family. We really appreciated the personalized service and treatment by all.. Thank You again.
