  7. When I was there they did not have enough staff for me to stay overnight and I was flown to a better hospital on a different island. When my brother was there and I was visiting I saw what looked like it could have been a old blood stain on the floor.

  9. If you get Dr Grenell, run. He did not wait for the CT scan to come back before proceeding with an unnecessary procedure for the ailment he “knew” it was. It wasn’t and he tortured me for 15 minutes needlessly. Make sure he has the results before you let him touch you.

  10. I have been trying to contact the medical records unit for three days. They never pick up the phone or return your call. I have an emergency and need the records. I don’t know what to do or who to reach.

  22. A case manager at Hilo Medical center was absolutely useless. She did not care about a long-term patient’s care and basically threw the responsibility on to the housemate. Highly do not recommend the case managers that work at Hilo Medical. Irresponsible and with such attitude.

  23. The new security measures are for what purpose I do not know. Maybe we live on the mainland attitude. After getting past that, I am forced to wait to see my own child who was brought here from school in ambulance for 20 minutes now. Still waiting. The front desk people are about as helpful as warts

My own experience has been great and a few weeks ago they took care of my son after a freak accident at home that could have been much worse if not for the fast acting Emergency Department and the awesome Dr Hansen from the Bone and Joint Clinic! Thank you all.

  32. From the first time I was in this establishment I was robbed by the nurses. I have been treated as less than human. There is no one in this hospital that is looking out for the patients. Their only focus is money, and their own bottom line.
