Monterey Regional/Waste Management Reviews ( 120 )

  1. such an awful experience. staff was not helpful and rude. they told me my flight was cancelled and gave me bogus excuses as to why. they said they couldn’t find me another flight but re-routed everyone else who were taking the same flight? it was very unprofessional.

  2. We pick up friends here who fly in for special events. And we arrive early to grab a bite in the wonderful restaurant – who knew? Easy in and out…

  3. This is great airport, problem I have is we have to have mask on when law enforcement does not wear mask
That is wrong and should be fixed immediately

  4. I was going through a security check point to catch a flight from Monterey to LAX….there were two people in front of me. TSA checked their IDs, the agent was super friendly to them. Then it was my turn to give him my ID and itinerary, he …

  5. Great small airport. Very personable. Great bloody Marys in the diner were great And great food also. Wait staff was so nice. Anna was so sweet. I was very pleased. Thanks monterey!

  6. Extremely rude staff and poor layout of airport. I nearly missed my flight because TSA was not at their stations to check me in. The airline staff didn’t know what was going on. When I had to rush through to my flight, security was extremely condescending do the situation. Disappointing experience and poorly trained staff.

  7. Very small airport but convenient to fly from here than to drive to SJ. I’ve flown to and from here multiple times and the staff is always friendly.

  8. Small yet beautiful airport nestled in the hills in Monterey. The restaurant on the second floor is expensive but delicious. The TSA is quick and efficient and due to the small size the wait is never very long.

  9. I have such a love hate relationship with this airport. A huge plus is that it’s convenient. I don’t have to drive down to San Jose or San Francisco to deal with the long lines and highway traffic. I can also find some very good deals …

  10. Do not fly American here. The front desk is rude and spiteful. Always try to charge you extra for baggage even with non economy tickets. Only happens at this airport. …

  11. I love my little airport on the hill! So convenient, TSA is quick, pickup/dropoff is hassle free. If I have a flight at 10AM, I don’t have to wake up early and drive 2 hours…then fight traffic and airport congestion, etc… I leave …

  12. Afternoon shift TSA is horrible and even their check-in staff agrees. The person I was flying with accidentally booked my flight with my middle name instead of my first and when TSA noticed they gave me a hassle even though I showed them …

  13. I fly in and out of this airport often. It’s quaint with some interesting historical displays. The cafe/bar is incredible. I recommend the calamari sandwich. Airport Staff are efficient and friendly. It’s tiny.

  14. The best place for easy of boarding but don’t underestimate the lines. Come early. But if you have an important engagement to make, dont fly out of Monterey. They are notorious for delays because SFO always has either air traffic or weather conditions. Right now in the winter, Denver is having the weather delays.

  15. This airport makes visiting the peninsula easy, even if flights are limited, especially from the eastern portion of the country. United isn’t my favorite airline, but that’s not MRY’s fault. It still beats the 1.5h slog from/to SLC. The extra $ is worth the convenience.

  16. Great airport. Staff is extremely friendly and so helpful. I remember my first time flying and they made me feel like a pro. Thank you for everything and for making things easier every time I travel.

  17. A very pleasant little Mom-and-Pop airport, where everything shuts down after dark. Don’t expect fancy modern innovations like jetways. You’re gonna debark onto the tarmac and walk to the terminal like God intended, bub.

  18. Always an easy experience landing here, getting a rental and then returning. You definitely don’t need to arrive 2 hours prior to your flight taking off as security is usually light and returning a rental takes all of 5 minutes.

  19. Bad experience my flight # UA 5522 , I do not recommend traveling from this airport because United airlines not ship all bags with travelers, which causes delays to continuing flights because of the fact that United treats the airport a …

  20. Very nice regional airport serving the Monterey peninsula and surrounding communities. Flights to San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver, Phoenix, and Las Vegas. Small and easy to navigate with no hassles waiting curbside for a few …

  21. Flew Direct to Dallas fm Monterey ..Great flight so much better than driving to San Jose.Less people in the Terminal Won’t run into my wife’s relatives either.. San Jose getting dangerous… Great breakfast sandwich that didn’t cost me a arm and a leg …

  22. my girlfriend is flying out of American. The help and the guidance for her to go in the right direction was very very nice. Monterey airport is an amazing place to fly out of and into.

  23. All around an OK experience . Bit of a delay but as far as small airports go this one does a good job of security without taking itself too seriously. I will usually fly out of here to save me a trip to San Jose. Great service with minimal surprises is a big plus.

  24. This is a great airport! Free parking if you will be there for 30 minutes or less. Only 4 airlines fly out of here and they are mostly regional commuter jets. The lines are never long. The interior could use an update. You really only need to get to the airport about 45 minutes before your plane departs.

  25. Small airport, well organized, clean, but needs some updating. They have a restaurant and snack bar. They have exhibit on top floor featuring various aspects of Monterey county like its history and tourist attractions.

  26. 2nd time Flying out of MRY. Both of my flights have been delayed enough that I missed my connecting flights and had to purchase a ticket at the next airport with different airlines. …

  27. We went to the parking lot located at the airport for Covid-19 testing. They are really nice! Please note you have to register online prior to the test being administered. Thank you! …

  28. Small place. Very close to town. Short car ride to my hotel (~5min). Could have walked to the airport. I got here early and hung out in the bar and watched the planes land and take off. Also helped that the NFL playoffs were on. …

  29. It reminds me of some of the smaller regional airports down south like the Burbank airport used to be. Easy to get in and out of and it’s also equally fantastic that @Allegiant airlines is now flying direct from Portland into Monterey once a week.

  30. This is a fast, small airport, with no frills. We opted to fly here to get to Carmel By The Sea, rather than flying through San Jose – to avoid the length of the drive. It is also significantly easier to navigate this airport than either SJ …

  31. Although this is small, this airport has all the usual conveniences e.g., restaurant,, bathrooms, convenience store, etc. The lines are never long and you can get from you car to the gate quickly. I recommend to anyone in the central coast.

  32. Bit of a military attitude towards passengers in TSA. It’s a small airport, relax a little if I’m not standing in the right place when no one else is around. There a difference between diligence and regimented.

  33. This was my first experience in this place during the pandemic. I understand the problem of pilots at Amerians Airlines, but sometimes we have very important trips to the other States. A couple of days ago, I was shocked by the lack of …

  34. Nice, small and easy airport. Only space for a couple planes, one baggage claim belt, small building…but it works good for a small market. Parking is close and easy to walk to. Didn’t spend much time there so don’t know the food situation.

  35. Small, quick, easy. One snack/sandwich shop, which serves alcohol. Walk out to plane via the tarmac. Did I mention small? Water fountains were not working today, FYI.

  36. Pros: small, line on TSA is probably people on your flight, so no chance of missing
Cons: nothing past TSA checkpoint, no restaurants or shops
Bottom line: great for short haul travel to Monterey

  37. Airport needs to do a better job of advertising hours of operation. I sat at the ticket counter for over 30 minutes with no clerk working. Then sat at a closed security checkpoint, the only one at the airport so that the TSA staff could do …

  38. Small airport not updated. Easy to get to rental cars, but very limited dining and beverage options. Terminal is cramped and not particularly comfortable.

  39. I wanted to personally shout out Lizett Smith of United Airlines at Monterey Airport. I would leave less stars if I was reviewing United as a company, because they cancelled my ticket for no reason. But Lizette and her coworker were …

  40. TERRIBLE. I have been flying through here for years and loved the convenience. Tried to check in the night before and on my way this morning with no luck. I only have carryon and hoped with checking in online this wouldnt be an issue. In …

  41. A perfectly convenient and efficient smaller regional airport. It is less than 10 minutes from downtown Monterey. It offers an adequate bar and restaurant with easy access for arrivals and departures. One warning: rental car counters are …

  42. For me, the worst part of any airport is when they have an unpleasant staff. MRY is not a large airport (5 gates, 2 of them in use at the moment) by any means, but every person I encountered from the check in desk to the TSA were all …

  43. PLEASE TURN OFF THE AIRCON!!! It is 45° outside and freezing cold air is blowing out of the air vents. People are sitting around huddled up with their jacket zipped up and their hats on.

  44. Tiny airport that’s extremely easy to navigate. Not very many flight options, and slightly higher prices than the major hubs. If convenience and ease of navigation were the only factors, this would have been a 5 ⭐ review.

  45. I’m sitting here at gate 5 waiting on departure. If and when you come here and rent a car. You must jot down the time, date, mileage and fill up before dropping off, lock doors and put contract with keys in it’s appropriate rental company box.

  46. I love this airport. It’s small and usually not very busy. There could be more options for food, and the planes that come through here are usually so small, but it comes with the territory I suppose. I’ve had great experiences here, overall.

  47. Small but hugely convenient airport. Very short security lines and much more relaxed than nearby San Jose and SFO. But be warned, if there’s a problem with the plane, it’s almost impossible to find another flight. So if visiting a super …

  48. Rad little airport with an awesome ocean and runway lookout bar (pre-security) upstairs. No lines, plus super friendly and accommodating staff make this a low key and enjoyable travel experience.

  49. Anytime I want to fly out of Monterey Bay Area in which I live, I always fly out of the Monterey Regional Airport it is a most convenient Airport in the surrounding area and you can connect to any flight in the country or internationally. …

  50. Absolutely incredible experience from the time we walked in at the United Air Lines check in to the TSA officer that was fantastic to interact with.
Will insist on coming in to MRY over San Jose next trip!

  51. Can’t beat it for local service, though the prices are higher than going out of SJC or SFO. However, when you factor in the added costs to go to either the other two and the time, then you might be better off at MRY. The connections continue to improve and love the direct flights to Denver and Dallas.

  52. A quaint little airport. Pretty easy to get around, small terminal with 2 gates. You have to walk on the tarmack to get to your plane or to the terminal. Hassle free checking, no crowds to deal with. Great way to travel into and out of central Cali. San Jose, San Francisco are a few more hours north and LA a few hours south.

  53. Great little airport. I noticed some complaints but if you take into consideration this is not an international airport so it isn’t going to offer much in terms of shopping or food. However, I deplaned and was able to go upstairs and enjoy …

  54. This small airport may be convenient but the price is not worth it. The experience we had left us rethinking future travel plans. The TSA line was oddly investigative. We had to take everything out of our bags. Once we got through our gate …

  55. Great little airport. Super cool say to get to. And 10min from Monterey beach/Pier. Car rental facilities on site next to baggage claim. 1 small gift shop and 1 small coffee / snack shop on site. And a little bar. Getting thru security and to your gate takes 2min
