  2. Almost every time there’s a storm or it’s a little windy, our power goes out – doesn’t make any sense. You may be without power for hours, maybe even days with this company.

  3. Horrible staff from the rude folks that answer the phones in the call center, all the way to the linesman. The billing department deserves an award on its own. Rude and belligerent would be a mild description. Another monopoly gone power crazy.

  4. I called them on the phone, the lady was very nice and professional, and answered any questions I had for her. I’m moving to new house and she helped me set up the transfer for billing.

  5. 1 star is too good for this horrible horrible horrible company but I did not get the option to give a zero. Please do your self a favor and pick any other company. This company will not help you in the worst of worst times. they only care about profits and in all honesty I firmly believe their humanity is gone.

  9. Frequent outages and terrible response times. Every thunderstorm our power seems to go out. Right now it’s been over 7 hours with no electricity, our power has come back on 3 times only to be shut off again shortly thereafter. How TF are we supposed to sleep right now in the dead heat of summer.

  12. Great customer service, but sometimes I question their deceptive billing practices. How does a bill magically jump from $200 to $400 in the same month? Then I realized they were requesting me to pay the past due amount which was just $200 to avoid the power going out.

  14. Call center personnel are rude and really could care less about helping you. It’s an effing shame they have the monopoly on electric service in SOMD. My other electric provider, dominion power will bend over backwards to help you. SMECO should take some hints from them.

  16. Power Lines are underground in the Preserve neighborhood and we constantly get power outages when storms roll in. Makes absolutely no sense to me because I never had an issue when I lived in Montgomery County and was serviced by BG&E. Too, too hot for this nonsense.
