I’m not even a customer, I’m trying to get new service. Apparently, there is only one person who can handle that request, and she’s been in a meeting for about three days now.
I totally understand why this company has such low ratings. Just called to start service and the lady was very sarcastic and rude about every question.
After being a customer for 35 years and never missing a payment. I forgot payment and was not given a late notice or a courtesy call and the shut my water off while laughing at me!
Rude customer service, No website. Very shady billing process. Credited my payment to somewhere else and turned off my water, then had the nerve to say I needed an additional deposit to turn it back on and charged a reconnect fee. Very poor customer service.
Terrible place. Getting a well rather than deal with this operation. Bet whom ever runs this joke of a company thinks they are as awesome as they were in high school because that’s about the level of competency runing that place. Please google, make a zero star for places like this!!!
I need to find out how to update my payment information, online, but there is no such thing. I guess I will have to go over there and give them the info, etc. for the AutoPay monthly draft, etc.
Rude, unresponsive and embarrassingly unprofessional. I would use another water company in a heartbeat if I could. I thought the other reviews were harsh before I interacted with them but they are actually mild. St. Johns Water Co Inc. is an absolute nightmare.
This is one sneaky little company. By the time I receive my bill, it’s already stamped as late. I have tried to get some straight answers, but it’s a different explanation every time. This happens to just about everyone in the area, from what I’m hearing from other people. Good luck.
I’ve been calling for 3 days and left a note on the website. No one will respond. I am a new resident to John’s Island, and cannot get someone to turn my water on! Luckily that is all I need… What if I were trying to call about an emergency like a broken water main????
Terrible customer support, no website or on-line pay/bill view. It is unbelievable and unacceptable that this “company” has rights to bill John’s Island residents for water. On the up side, there is room for massive improvement and I hope ne management comes in at some point.
Teresa was very helpful when I applied for a water tap for new construction and we discovered that the TMS number she had was different than the TMS number on my lot closing documents. She contacted Engineer Colleen and together they resolved the problem, facilitating my obtaining the water tap! Thank You!
The mail has been slow and messed up, I received a late fee notice in the mail and called customer service, they talked in circles and when I asked since I didn’t get the letter before this one to please work with me and take off the SMALL late fee the answer was no. Not happy with the way things were handled.
Why is this company still in existence? Why haven’t they been bought out, or even better, update their systems. They have the most antiquated ass backwards methods I have ever experienced. We are billed from the 15-15th of ever month, …
Our water bill has been around $20 for the past 4 years. Last week, the boy comes in and hands me the warning letter about the water being turned off. Somehow, the bill was $80! Paid in full and thought it was because he had been working …
Place is a nightmare. Very rude. The only reason i gave it 2 stars is because of the younger guy who works in the office. He is the only one who has never been rude. I make my payment by phone monthly, he is normally the one i speak with …
short staffed (as usual) Came in to handle business, gave me a form to fill out(no where to fill it out)whoever built that set up screwed up. I Ithought everything was handled, received a letter stating my card info would not work!they …
You all who are complaining about St. Johns Water, I’ll take the rude service from them rather than the nice service from Charleston Water Service and those extremely high water bills. However, I take care of my mother’s water with St. …
Worst water company ever. They are the only company we can use and I’m SICK of it!! They cut our water off with no warning, they don’t send bills in the mail and they charge an astronomical amount of water. The customer service is HORRIBLE!!!! I am literally going to sell my house and move because of them.
This is a poorly managed company that should not be in business. They overcharge/spike their rates for no apparent reason and take forever to respond to calls and emails if they manage to do so at all. …
Horribly incompetent company. I set up auto pay through my bank account and they only do it for one month and then the next month, nothing. Now they want to charge late fees and threaten to turn off my water. As the City of Charleston …
The worst managed business I have dealt with in 25 years. It is shameful how easily this company could be updated. It is so obvious that something illegal is going on with the billing process and someone doesn’t want to change it because …
SJWC, I don’t know how you sleep at night !! You will DISCONNECT my water to install a new meter box, but THEN YOU REFUSE TO RECONNECT my water and leave me and my family without water for the night. SJWC, you have made it very clear …
Horrible customer service. Received a bill that claims that we managed to use 70,000 gallons of water. There’s no leak yet they insist that we must have left a hose or toilet running long enough to lose 70,000 GALLONS of water. Our …
guys, yes the company does suck in the sense that their is no online payment option or even website as far as I can tell; but I dont buy that the customer service is terrible. I’ve talked to them countless times and always had a very …
Friendly enough on the phone. Cannot get technician work done within reasonable time frame. Unable to pay or manage accounts online. Results of having no competition.
The water tastes disgusting and my fixtures require scrubbing every 3 minths from residue (brand new house). No online bill pay. Difficult to have a substantive conversation about the water quality behind a glass window. No verbal response. …
I have had several encounters with the water company over the past six years and, up to this point, each one has been very positive. The staff has always been very friendly over the phone and in person and very responsive to our needs ranging from investigating a leak to account questions.
If I could give zero stars I would. This company’s irresponsible policy has them shutting off water at households at an appalling daily rate (where kids are home and unemployment is at an all time high) in the middle of a state of emergency …
There is mold at my water faucets throughout the house. They say my water is fine but will not put it in writing. Why not? I want proof. I pay for the water so why aren’t I entitled to the results? I have had to call 5 times and still not …
They changed their billing system and failed to adequately communicate to their customers. Then they went on a spree of shutting off hundreds of households’ water with no warning. Unacceptable behavior.
One star is too much for them. I have been consistently unhappy with St. John’s Water Company for a long time, but have never really been irritated enough to write a review… especially since they’re a monopoly and we don’t have a choice …
A nightmare to say the least. Worst customer service ever. Would’ve been better off talking to a brick wall. They can’t explain their billing and their records don’t match what they tell you or bill you. When you have a $20 monthly bill …
On behalf of my mother-in-law, I have been dealing with St. John’s Water Company for a few years, and now recently with some projects of my own. I believe the staff is friendly and helpful over the telephone and in person, as I call …
I am very displeased with St Johns Water Co. They sent a letter saying that they performed an audit and my wife and I owe $100 for an activation fee for when we moved here nearly 2 years ago. We have no record that we paid this from our …
Cut our water off with no notice. We had autopay on and they decided to stop using that card without notifying me. Pick up the phone and let people know before you take away their water supply. We have a 6 week at home and it is making things even more difficult.
Vote out the new Sherrif she has no heart and no buisness working with people. Obviously is a numbers only count, kinda person. Totally rude refused a cash payment before my shut off and still DEMANDED FULL PAYMENT PLUS SHUT OFF FEE WHICH …
Very excited about their new online payment system. It’s clear every time I call and ask a question that the local water company has kept customer service at the heart of what they do even while they scale up to modern pay methods and the booming population on the island nowadays. Thanks, St. John’s!
The absolute worst. If I could use another company or dig a well I would. They were sending our bills to the wrong address, gave us an hour to pay a bill that we never received or they were going to cut off our water, we immediately paid …
We have had St Johns Water for the past 6 years and haven’t had any problems. Paying your bill over the phone takes no more than 1 min, they are always nice when we call, and they are very responsive to emails. They are very to the point but it keeps your conversations short and sweet. Never had any issues.
APPALLED!! Apparently, this “company” does NOT have their ducks in row. I came home from work today and ZERO water…… OK cool: I have been set up on auto-pay for 3 years, and they switched up the game without telling their customers.. …
Absolutely horrible service. Beware. Some of the representatives that I’ve spoken to are nice, but they don’t have the power or ability to be helpful. It’s the company they work for that likes to steal peoples money by shutting off water …
Reading these reviews makes me feel a bit better that we are not alone! It is unbelievable that we are dealing with a company in 2022 that sends snail mail, which these days who knows where that might end up, and no options to pay online. …
Applying for new water service requires more information than a government security clearance. 8 pages of information. For water. We are drilling our own well. Merika.
Used phone service to make a payment and was disappointed there is no option to select German as a language. I understand the option for English; I live in SC and that is the language of our nation, but I’m confused as to why there would …
worst customer service
Wonderful customer service!
Horrible customer service is an understatement.
Helpful staff and quick service.
Need to get with the times so we can pay ONLINE…
Just abysmal. No website. Incompetent people. Rude service.
It’s 2020, get an online payment system.
Worst customer service experience ever, i don’t spent time writing reviews but they are that horrible
Unfortunately one star is the lowest ranking I could give them
Stuck in the 60’s. What’s online bill pay, what is a credit card?
No online billing. Bill comes days before it is due. Needs to come into the internet age!
I have been dealing with SJWC for almost 20 years. I have no complaints.
I’m not even a customer, I’m trying to get new service. Apparently, there is only one person who can handle that request, and she’s been in a meeting for about three days now.
I totally understand why this company has such low ratings. Just called to start service and the lady was very sarcastic and rude about every question.
I had a recent issue with SJWC that was resolved quickly. All four people that I interacted with were helpful and courteous.
Can we give them zero?!
Worst customer service of any utility company we have ever dealt with. Sneaky, as another guy put it.
Need online payment system… place is filled with jesters. Fee to turn off/on water every month since I’m not receiving bills.
Friendly enough customer service to get my bill paid. Could use a modern touch so that the bill could be paid online or by phone.
Staff is always very polite. However, they really need to get some sort of online payment method in place.
No way to pay online and you are lucky to get a paper bill. I’d like to say this company is garbage but the garbage company actually does a great job.
