Unlike many states, residents in Texas have the power to choose how we buy and consume electricity. However, this freedom can leave Texans open to plans that are too good to be true.

  1. would give 5 stars but have to give them 4 because they do not have enough people to help with customer service at times so you get sent to their comapny voicemail but other than that they are great and their prices are great I am really glad I was able to find them

  2. I just spoke to a mike or Michael and he had bad customer service .. wasn’t very helpful and didn’t sound like any normal light company it sounded like he was answering from a cel phone the way he would talk .. and how the call sounded not sure if call was routed to his phone but yeah not signing up with them

  3. Customer service second to none! If I have a problem in the future I’m sure mike or David will have no problem helping me correct it. It was my pleasure speaking with you, THANK YOU AGAIN

  4. I was very happy with a 9.1cent per kwh signed up for auto pay after 6 months of service I trusted the company and they must have started smoking crack cuz last month it went to 13.9cents per kwh and this month it went to 19.2cents per kwh …

  5. Very misleading info on the power to choose website, after i picked a plan with volt energy and filled out the application and waisted 15 minutes, they sent a rejection email saying that i don’t qualify for the plan because I’m not a new …

  6. This is a scam company. They advertise very low prices on PowerToChoose (i.e., 4 cents per kWh) to show up high on search results, but the contract price is well above that. Read the fine print.

  7. Volt came to Mobile, Alabama right after Hurricane Sally smacked the Gulf Coast. The linemen restored power within 72 hours and these guys are the Real MVP’s. Thank You all so much.

  8. Couldn’t login to their website to check my bill for almost a month because their system deleted my password, their IT department gave me the runaround and lied to me about it, and then when I had to pay my bill over the phone because it still wasn’t fixed, my bill was almost $100 with no way to check on the charges.

  9. Just going to chime in here, be sure to stay on top of your renewal. I figured I would probably pay a little more out of the contract but a $500 dollar bill increasing to $1200????? I cant get anyone on the phone to talk about it. Feels like I got mugged.

  10. Well we got a letter today saying we are being moved to a new supplier as of today….no notice no nothing and if we want to leave our contract early we will have to pay the penalties to the new suppliers. No explanation of why we are being moved….

  11. I switch from Ambit energy, best decission ever pretty straightforward if i use less than 2,000 kWh, which i normally use my bill is the same amount every month no more than $77 compared that to the $120-130 with ambit, if i were to use over 2000 i would still pay 30-40 dollars less tham ambit, thank you Volt!

  12. After hurricane Zeta left us with a black eye I watched these guys day after day working until well past dark, a convoy of trucks parked in front of our local catholic church, huddled over paperwork with flash lights, getting ready to do it …

  13. They just sent me a bill for $400 for the month of February for an 1,100 sq ft home. This was during the winter storms in TX but I thought price gouging was unethical. Will be switching

  14. Apartment E – Bill Plan… my family and I are about to move into a new place and Mike phone rep and Chris online chat both were very helpful and answered all of my questions… They helped put my mind at ease and look forward to service …

  15. I talked with a representative named Christy and she provided EXCELLENT customer service. I decided to go with Volt EP as my electric provider because Christy was patient and explained how rates are charged, what the differences are in …

  16. Kessa was great. Fast, quick, and easy. Provided all the information I needed and even helped with my auto-bill issue. She is the best, deserves a raise or at least a gift card for Dinner! Thanks a bunch.

  17. $260 for 1842kw that’s 13.7 cents per Kw and the very next month $405 for 2031kw at 19.9 cents per kw. I was supposed to be on a 10 cent plan. Apparently the young lady I talked to just said whatever to get me to sign up. I’ve been over …

  18. Absolutely horrible pricing. You have no idea what the final bill is going to be. Advertise one price and actual you get is completely different. I have never paid higher than $220 before and I got charged $440 last summer with Volt. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM

  19. VOLT has always been great to deal with. I have been a customer for over 4 years and find its staff always pleasant and knowledgeable. Recently, I moved and I feel like they went above and beyond in setting up my new electricity service in a rush. Thank You.

  20. We’ve only had great experiences with this company and are glad we decided on Volt. Rachel helped us with getting started and with our renewal, and her customer service has been excellent each time.

  21. They charged me over $600 for ONE month of electricity. I am in the process of suing and want to see them explain how my meter reading was correct on 700 sq ft house with no appliances including no kitchen.

  22. Smooth 12 month contract with VOLT EP. No hidden fees, good customer service, easy auto-pay. My contract is over, and the only reason I’m switching is because I reviewed my usage and found a better deal. VOLT EP also increased their prices …

  23. We had good rates for several years with Volt, with a main account for our home and another for our small farm that were billed together. We sold our house and moved to the farm, then for 1750 kwh hours usage we received a bill for …

  24. Save your money from this scam, I made the mistake of not being on a contract the last months of my lease and they raised my rate 200%!! I went from $115 to $350 a month, 9 cents/kWh to 26 cents/kWh! I will be filing a complaint with the Public Utility Commission of Texas.

  25. Disgusting company, what they are doing cannot be legal and I will be taking action. Charged me $9 per kw used for a period in August. Got a bill of $800 for one month for energy I used between hours I was at work. Called got told basically …

  26. complete SCAM and FRAUD company, their meter read guy will come out a few days before your service and a few days afterwards and bill you the entire month for it. for example, 3 month contract, they have their guy come out a few days before …

  27. Gby Volt Electric, for helping us all out during Hurricane Ida, I’m reviewing this from southeast Louisiana slidell area. Very cool people and was blessed that they came out here to fix alot of our power, so many people in our neighborhood …

  28. Criminals!!! Just received a $1000 bill after 1 year of being with them. Usually they inform me of my contract being up, not this time. The month to month rate was $.30 per KWH. When I reached out to contact them, the customer service was rude. Im doing everything I can do warn people about this company.

  29. Signed up for a 3 month plan and was getting a great deal about 8.2 per Kwh. Then for August they bill me 14.1 per Kwh after the contract was up, switched providers then my final bill was 15.1 per Kwh. …

  30. I agree with one of the reviews provided here that they conveniently set cycle dates few days after you enroll and end the connection few days after your cycle ends. And there is no pro-rated billing system so you end up paying full month …

  31. This supposed company had a advertised 9.1 cent per KWH,,when the monthly bill came in the KWH was actually 15.9 cents per hour..when deling with this dishonest company buyer BEWARE….They have no customer service. When you do get to talk …

  32. This business is a scam. I have service with Cirro Energy and am very happy. I received a letter at my home stating that my account was unpaid and a disconnect was pending per VOLT. I called VOLT to see who they were and what was going on …

  33. I was skeptical when I changed companies. Volt was a fairly new company, but was accredited by the BBB. Needless to say, I’ve had Volt for almost 2 years and have absolutely no complaints. Bill is always low (half the price as when I was with Reliant) customer service has been good the one time I needed it as well.

  34. For the 6 months I have been with them they have never got billing correct. I pay the Bill’s and a few days later there will be some remaining “balance” that was not there when I paid the bill. …

  35. Scam company… missed my renewal for another fixed plan after my current plan expired and my bill was $1574.30. Disgusting treatment of customers. I called and asked if I could get switched to a fixed rate plan and stay with them so my bill could be reduced. The only thing they offered was a payment plan…

  36. Scam!!! Just recieved a $700 bill after 2 years of being with them (normally a $200 bill ). Usually they inform me of my contract being up, not this time. Changing companies immediately to a company that follows procedures and cares about customers

  37. Fantastic Customer Service! Thank you very much to Tessa for helping me with my account. She was so professional and quick to resolve my issue. Great rates and fast service, I’m signing up for a year long term today based on my experience. …

  38. I woke up this morning to an email from Volt saying they were taking me off my promotional rate (which still had many months left before its expiration date) because expected usage will rise beyond their expectations (on Monday because of …

  39. This company doesn’t even deserve a star but in order to leave a review I had too. I’ve been with this company since October 2017 (3 years). These last few months my electric bill has been almost $300 for a two bedroom apartment even my …

  40. $20 late fees and $9.95 make your bill skyrocket. I didn’t know my plan was only for 3 months. Their phone service hangs up on you every time you try and talk to someone. They’re behind on technology, not even a link to the website in their …

  41. Had Volt EP for 3 years, each year they call and ask if I want to switch to a different plan due to my contract being up. Well they didn’t do it this year, I was put on a month to month plan with no notice. This past months bill was $503. …

  42. SIgned a 6 month contract. Each and every month I had a bill in my email with usage information. Consistent prices and billing. They emailed 1 month before contract expiration with a notice that the contract is expiring. I will definitely consider resigning up with Volt the next go around.

  43. With the winter storm on it’s way, I received a proactive text (Friday) to advise that I was on a variable plan and that they expected prices on Sunday and Monday to be very high. I called and left a message with the service center. Not …

  44. Cheap rates was a good provider until today. They have sent 3 emails in the last few hours about my energy usage because f the colder weather, what do they think is going to happen? Of course everyone is going to be doing the same thing. Trying to get me to cancel out of my contract 4 months early so they won’t lose money.
