Omaha Public Power District Reviews ( 59 )

  1. This company is a disgrace and burden to the people in our community. I personally have been overcharged every billing cycle for a year. I paid off my $325 light bill only to be overcharged AGAIN for $200 when I moved out of my apartment. …

  2. Oppd for thanking you for helping everyone in omaha nebraska from this terrible virus and working with everyone financially to get all of us threw this thanks oppd the best and very highly recommend power company

  3. For discontinuing service, this was painless. I went at eleven thirty and maybe have to wait fifteen minutes to be helped. Even on a Friday everyone was pretty upbeat.

  4. There is no reason why that couldn’t have the lobby open with restrictions yet. It is now over 4 months in to the pandemic, banks and the dmv have found options to open.

  5. I have called 3 times to disconnect my service, and now 3 months later I’m STILL GETTING BILLED for a location I no longer live at!!! I call and they say there’s no record of me ever cancelling service so they can’t refund what’s been been taken out of my account. SO PISSED OFF!!!

  6. The fact that I have to give this company one star is inherently pathetic. There should be an option for negative stars that would be the only way to accurately describe how horribly inefficient their customer service phone line is.

  7. just got off the phone with Omar! only on hold for no more than a few seconds. Omar answered all of my questions promptly and gave me advice and direction on my next steps for turning on power when I finally decide on a rental property

  8. Costumer service is a joke! Their level payment option is a scam! This company is only in it for the money… costumers come last. If people had a choice on who provides these services, 90% sure it would not be oppd.

  9. Terrible customer service they can’t help you at all, not to mention you can’t even go in person to get help. The fact that McDonald’s can stay open during this pandemic but the government building don’t want nothing to do with helping the people.

  10. oppd are the biggest crooks in the power industry. It is so pitiful that they would be best off asking congress or the senate for help on how to run the their business, and we know how good congress is at running a business/country (lol) …

  11. Brief power outage today 4-6-2020 However Phone staff were very friendly and gave me the info I needed. The field crew got right on it and power back on ahead of schedule. Good Job OPPD Team

  12. Like others are saying — monopoly on the service. Terrible customer service. Misleading social media accounts. Demanding full price for incomplete services. Dismissive staff. Would switch if I could.

  13. Every OPPD in Omaha is terrible. Their phone service is impossible to manage. It takes too much time to navigate through and has no user friendly features. OPPD has a terrible phone system that makes it impossible to speak to a …

  14. My elderly father receives help with his bill during the winter months. He had a $110 credit left but OPPD informed him that he owed $100. Why wasn’t the credit applied to his bill?! OPPD is the worse company. Why don’t we have other options?!

  15. I called to shut off my account on the 5th and they told me they would come out on the 9th to cancel it. It’s now the 24th and they apparently did not do so. They also told me I would only be expected one bill left for the previous month …

  16. I was part of the OPPD Cool Smart Program until last week when they shut us down for 2.5 hours during the hottest day of the year so far. I called to be removed from the program this last Monday. I was told it would be 24 hours but we are …

  17. OPPD is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Every time you talk to someone you get a different answer and terrible customer service. They know they can treat you like garbage because you have to use them if you want power. They can pack on the charges but can’t explain what they are for.

  18. I guess oppd turns off your power for $300 that’s pretty pathetic lol hands down one of the most money hungry companies. Out there to make billions and not care about a single person

  19. Trying to get ahold of someone who can help is nearly impossible. The messages for what you were supposed to push were cut off at the beginning for some reason and I had a difficult time getting anyone to talk to besides the computer. …

  20. Power outages every summer weekly for the last 3 years off 370 and 72nd. They claim they can’t figure out which piece of equipment is going bad or pretend they don’t see the history. How long are we going to have to deal with this????

  21. Tree down on a neighbors power line. Called To let the power company know it was in the pole lines. Not just the ones coming to house. She said if the line falls and someone gets electrocuted it is not OPPD Problem… I can refer you to …

  22. Wow! The customer service at my Power company makes me proud. so many bad experiences with utility companies not caring. Well, OPPD is definitely different. My rep. was personable, patient, understanding and even funny. I felt like I was talking to a neighbor about my conserns…..Good job! Keep up the good work

  23. $200 just for a ridiculous deposit. And then when all we simply did was change banks and needed to update our auto pay information it was much more difficult and frustrating than it needed to be. Customer service was less than helpful and …

  24. Worst automated system for over the phone payment, took me over 30 minutes to figure out how-to make payment. Was transferred 5 times, the system input wrong info even though I input it in right, and payment operator didn’t actually have …

  25. have been without power for 3 days & i have asthma. there is no clue when it will be on. the only option you get when you call customer service is to make a payment. of course people are without power but oppd will still take the peoples money. greedy pigs, karma will come around.

  26. Had great response. We were to remove a dryer from a house. The owner was to have it capped. My 19 yo removing the dryer wasn’t sure where the capping took place (i understand training is required!!!) Let out a bunch of gas in the house… we called hotĺine.

  27. Absolutely terrible. I stopped my account because I was moving out of my apartment the beginning of January. In February, my account was charged. I contacted the customer service who then told me I needed to settle that with my old landlord …

  28. I found out the other day that the administrative employees here are getting paid $40.00 an hour! Remember that the next time you are paying your bill and there is a $30-$40 admin fee. Thanks a lot OPPD!

  29. Even thinking about this company gives me an anxiety attack. I find it so strange that other people can rack up 700 dollars in debt with this company and then still manage to turn on their service. My ex left me with a 300 dollar bill and …

  30. 32 hours now with no power. I understand it was a big storm, but my neighborhood hasn’t even been touched. No one will even attempt to help you with an estimate on repair, or any questions. Though no one has touched 68005, don’t worry; west O and elkhorn were immediately taken care of.

  31. They are greedy grubbers. Paid 700 on a backed up bill because my assistance didn’t get to them in time to keep it from being on disconnect notice. After all that I get clear. A week later I received a new disconnect notice for 132 dollars. …

  32. The first terrible utility company i have ever ran across. My account was charged 4 days before my bill was due in which i thought they charged me on the 8th, the due date . I found out that i did in fact have funds available in that …

  33. They have a monopoly on the power and their customer service and over all performance is seriously lacking. Power goes out and you can never seem to get an update as to when it’s coming back on. People are on oxygen or have sensitive …

  34. So for the usage of the month of July through August my bill went up. Although no changes have occurred in my home suffering through the excruciating heat they have the nerve to charge more because of prior usage for this time of year when …

  35. If ur clerks do not take cards upon making a payment you should really have signs posted on the entrance doors explaining cash to the tellers windows & cards to the automated machines I stood in line for 15 mins all to here the customer …

  36. Most horribly monopoly on humanity I’ve ever experienced!
They don’t care about their ratings – why should they? We are STUCK with them, so they exploit their customers to the nth degree! Shame come to them and their Board for this ABUSE OF POWER!

  37. Paid about $15 more for only 4 more kWh usage per day. Ridiculous. There is also a $30 monthly fixed charge. I cannot sustain almost a $90 OPPD bill every month in this economy. If I don’t see prices drop real soon I am going to start living by candle light.

  38. I need zero stars for OPPD. The tiny snow that came down 2 days on 29th Nov 22 brought power surge into my home and destroyed my TV. My TV was plugged into a surge protector. Told Oppd and they shrug say it’s not their responsibility. …
