Here is the only answer I got from a manager about why Blue Cross of Idaho has had so much trouble creating a legal document with all names spelled correctly and the patient correctly identified. “The system is sometimes broken, and it does not always work right.” Ok then. Got it. 😬 …
They have some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Every interaction I have had has been an absolute nightmare. Their customer service representatives that I dealt with were ignorant and or incompetent. They don’t respond …
Great
Had to take our 7 month old to the emergency room but did not receive our insurance card yet and could not get logged in no matter what we tried to check on providers in our network or get our policy info. We spent 2 hours trying to get …
No comment.
The worst EVER
Very nice place
Love them!! Everyone is friendly and very helpful!!
Outdated. Providers not available. Wrong phone numbers.
The people and company really seem to care about their members.
Website is horrible! I can’t even log in! Wish I could give zero stars…
They don’t cover medical formula for people with PKU.
One of the worst website have ever seen.. Most of the links doesn’t work & couldn’t do member login too.
Horrible company. Service and billing have been horrendous. Still waiting for tax forms that were supposed to be sent out in February.
Terrible website membership account dashboard. The app is not much better.
Their website is often down and they don’t seem to care or respond to requests to fix it.
I called about some questions regarding my bill. I received help very promptly and clearly and my question was answered.
I’ve been on hold for 45 minutes and I’m still on hold. I have better things to do than sit on hold. Really annoyed.
Absolute worst of the insurance companies out there. Just prepare to pay for everything you need out of pocket.
After reading negative reviews on this I was surprised how helpful, responsive and courteous the representatives are. GREAT COMPANY!!!
charged me after I canceled my policy. do not do auto pay.
Hold times are brutal! Be prepared to hold at least an hour…They provide no estimated wait time or call back feature!
Have been with them 18 years. Over the past couple of years they have lost their way and become part of the bureaucratic nightmare that is health care in the U.S.
I have to say, their phone support was top notch. Spoke to someone right away, and all my questions were answered effectively and efficiently, it was an experience I was not expecting.
Very poor claim process and customer service. Everytime I had to call them for trouble-shooting, it was such an annoying experience. Definitely stay away from using them if possible!
Doesn’t want to approve surgery leaving me at my wits end have medicare but because my husband works for Boise Cascade I’ve got to deal with this being my primary insurance.
I’ve had Blue Cross insurance for the last fourteen years and I’ve enjoyed the experience quite a lot.
I have been with them since January 2015 , I never had an issues with them. I am happy with their contracts with many health providers and quality customer service.
Corporate atmosphere with deplorable training process. Stuck in a cubicle with no privacy! Good luck if you’re a baby boomer. The system rewards the young with NO LIFE EXPERIENCE OR RESPECT of their older and seasoned colleagues! A lot of gossiping and pettiness.
Blue Cross of Idaho is another insurance company that seeks profits over people. They force people into using the services and providers they want. Providers who accept lower rates and are run over by the Goliath that Blue Cross is.
Refuses to pay “out of network” providers that are shown in network on their website and St. Lukes even said they are in network. They are just try and get out of paying. Will be cancelling my policy
Seriously the absolute worst customer service, ever, and a complete rip off. If you’re looking for a new insurance provider, avoid Blue Cross of Idaho. It disgusts me that I stuck with these con artists.
Everyone in my office has been paying for insurance we can’t use for over a week now because Blue Cross haven’t given us any information. Step it up Blue Cross
Just look at how many one star reviews have been posted!!!!!!! 2.2 over all? Wow!!! Horrible insurance! Waste of money! They will put everything on the deductible every year before covering anything!!! Not paying 1 cent of any Bill’s from hospital!!!
Service is good, website sucks! I try registering as a non-guest won’t let me do it. I try entering as a guest which I use to and it worked fine but now just redirects me back to non guest screen or says I have it open in another tab …
Steve in customer service really went above and beyond for me…when my PCP wasn’t showing up in the system fast enough he took the time to directly call my provider and assure them that the doctor I requested was verified which saved me from having to reschedule an appointment.
Had a needed medication for cancer, they changed the criteria, now the co pay is 3000 a month. If I would have known I would have never taken the insurance.
Having troubling buying a diabetes pump for my daughter. Blue Cross contracts out to Edge Mark and nothing gets done. A very frustrating process. I call and leave voice mails and it takes them days to call back and if you miss their call you want another week and hope they call you back.
These guys are constantly denying claims and you have to spend hours on the phone to get them to cover bills. They are an absolutely dishonest and unethical company.
I love the coverage and the customer service is great! I’ve had to call in over the span of 15 years being a customer and have not had issues with them at all. Some minor instances have been frustrating, but overall they have saved me money and have given me tips for benefits that I didn’t know I had as a customer.
They make it so difficult to make a monthly payment. Their webpage is garbage and I had such a hard time creating an account and logging in that I opt’d to call them every month. They also don’t accept credit (not sure if that’s the same …
Called 2 times to pick a dr and to ask which dr available in my zip code but put on hold for over an hour so gave up and hung up,next year will pick different health insurance.
I have been very pleased with Blue Cross, quick pre-authorizations, good coverage and very pleasant and knowledgable phone support in all areas that I have dealt with. Not 5 stars just because NO insurance these days covers what we wish they would for the prices we wish.
I switched from United Healthcare last year. I got there tax forms in Feb. I’m still waiting for BC of Idaho’s for which was supposedly sent out three weeks ago. Each time I called they say “I believe the last ones were sent out today.” I …
I have to disagree I know from experience that if you have a legitimate claim they will do what they can for you. Yes health care is very complicated you are dealing with several entities Doctors, hospitals, Your health Idaho and your …
I cannot wait until November to be able to change companies. My high dollar platinum plan seems to cover very little. It is amazing at how many ways Blue Cross finds NOT to pay for claims.
Currently under a St, alphonsus medical plan through these guys. I needed to go to the doctor so decided why not just go to a saint als urgent care? Went back in August. Just decided to check on it this last week at the doctors office and …
This place is horrible with billing! They’re terrible about keeping accounts straight and if they overcharge you, get ready to fight tooth-and-nail for your own money back. They have terrible communication between their own departments. Its …
After two years with coverage by Regence Blue Cross I am so happy to be covered by Blue Cross of Idaho. Billings are largely accurate and if issues come up BC of Idaho has competent customer service reps that can take care of the issue. Don’t like BC of Idaho? Go to Regence and see how bad a company can be run.
The claims representative was very helpful knowledgeable and truly committed to answering questions about recent claims. Sadly, Blue doesn’t cover quick and simple things done by providers during office visit such as; looking in an ear with a scope(called binocular) so that cost is not part of visit.
Saved my husband’s life. When he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with an A1C of 17.9 Blue Cross of Idaho made sure he got the help he needed to turn it around. His insulin, Appointments with the Humpherys Diabetes Center, and even …
Can’t register to pay bills online. Telephone customer service sent me from number to number, put me on hold 15 minutes, and then a recorded message told me that their office is closed and to call back on Monday…wasted a lot of my time before telling me.
I have seen and heard some inexcusable things. I have had my supervisor tell us the most important thing for us is getting a payment from the customer, they do not come first, the payment does. We have had handfuls of people come in saying …
Most horrible insurance company i have ever had to work with. I work at a dental office and they messed up on all of our clients claims, tried to put it on us as our fault, had to go to the top to get them to pay what they were contracted to …
This company is a perfect example of why so many people don’t get insurance. I pay a monthly amount and they literally cover $0 of my medical expenses. All they are doing now is making my medical costs more expensive by paying a monthly fee.
Terrible customer service. Will try to rip you off any way possible for “covered services.” A recent example: my work requires a cholesterol test to determine the cost of my insurance. This test is supposed to be free for me as it’s covered …
They don’t cover many medications. You should assume if you are planning on getting coverage with them that if there isn’t a generic version of the medication you need, they aren’t going to cover it. Mabye so, but assume the worst. It seems …
HEY FOLKS–SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE IS THE FIRST STEP TO A PERMANENT SOLUTION! If Blue Cross refuses to cover a regularly ordered prescription they should call the customer and inform him or her of this (a recorded message will do). …
I’ve been waiting for 3 days to get approval on a kidney x-ray. It’s very important that get this test. I’ve had Blue Cross my whole life and have never experienced this before. Very disappointing especially when paying 715.00 a month for insurance. I’ll have to research other insurance companies. Barb Fox
As an insurance biller I view them as the worst hands down to work with for Dental claims. They should allow their insurance agent the ability to help their customers. If it wasn’t for the fact that so many companies use them we would no longer be providers for them.
Worst. Billing. Ever.
They can’t even take payments over the phone and they sent a clear envelope with no “bill” so mailing in a check would expose my bank account number to anyone. …
I’ve never paid more for insurance and received less than when I had a private policy with Blue Cross of Idaho. Not sure if it’s just the ACA, or BCI, but we need more competition in Idaho for health insurance, since these guys just gouge …
I signed up for insurance with them, even went into their office to make sure everything was taken card of. Paid for the whole year in advance, to avoid any hassles there. 4 days later I went to a doctor–when the doctor checked on my …
Working in a healthcare office, it is very difficult to get ahold of an agent in a timely manner. It is common to remain on the line waiting to speak with someone for over 30 minutes, no matter the time of day. This causes difficulties when …
Honestly, 1 Star is a star too many. I have had complications on quite literally 100% of my bills. The first 5 – 6 payments I made were mysteriously being transferred into another person’s (with nowhere near a similar name, even) account. …
If majority of the people that have had good experiences rated the insurance then their star rating would Definitely be different. Blue cross of idaho is the only insurance I’ve ever had in my 15 years of having insurance and they’ve always been great. Processed all claims correctly and in a timely manner.
How is Walgreens out of network. They are one of the biggest pharmacies around. I just had to pay $450 for a prescription that no other pharmacy had in stock. So I have the option of possible perminate damage to my vision or dropping $450 …
Worst service I’ve ever seen from a health insurance company. I signed up for auto pay online and with the mail in reply card. They canceled my policy due to “non-payment.” Even though all my bank information was entered online, they …
I work for a small billing company. Every time we call the hold time is OVER 2 hours. Even if we call first thing at 7 AM. This is an unacceptable amount of time to be holding. The reps are not very knowledgeable and have to research …
Very poor. I need an MRI for my knee and have a very high deductible. Interested in being cost effective as if I don’t need surgery, all my expenses are out of pocket. The Blue Cross rep refused to help and referred me to their web site …
I received a letter on the 1st of October from Blue Cross of Idaho telling me the policy I was enrolled would no longer be offered, and that they recommended a new policy that cost $200 more a month, with lowered coverage. I contacted my …
Their insurance policy is insane. Per their policy, if you had a cold 10 years ago and you just got the flu today, then they will deny you coverage for the flu due to having a “pre-existing condition.” That is the most redicilus thing I …
I work in a dental provider’s office. Blue Cross of Idaho has been one of the most difficult insurance companies for us to work with. All inquiries on the provider’s side are handled exclusively by email (can’t even get a live person on the …
We have been dealing with my sons issues with school, hes on medication and its not working so we tried another one. Still not working so we got into northwest behavorial. We had our intake appointment and we discussed getting on the …
Long story short these folks are doing business first and taking care of you last… I work consistently with them, they validate their denials and determining “medical necessity” on CHERRY PICKED studies….especially in the mental health …
I have had health insurance from companies all over the United States and Blue Cross Idaho is the single worst provider I have every experienced. They are supposedly member owned, but treat their members like trash. In 2017 they realized …
Worst, most uncaring, irresponsible company ever. Awful customer service. Spent hours over months trying to have them correct a mistake they obviously made and they still did nothing. Had no problem taking my payments for 6 years but …
My elderly mother was in medical need, and I needed to know what she was insured for. I knew she had coverage, but I didn’t know with whom. I called the BCI toll free customer service number. The agent I spoke to (I believe it was Carol) …
I have been a customer for many years. With changes of employment, there have been changes of plans. I have had to update my records as is standard in the insurance industry. I’ve Had to get prior approvals as is consistent in insurance …
I wasted hours of my life trying to get these people to cover a basic PCP visit that was CLEARLY was supposed to be covered under my policy. I should have never had to call them in the first place, and then it didn’t take 1 or 2 phone calls …
I got married recently and filled out and mailed in an application to put my wife on my current policy. I did this well within the 60 day period that you’re supposed to do this. I have not heard anything back from Blue Cross of Idaho …
I work for a provider’s office and they won’t let you talk to a representative over the phone for issues with claims. You have to go to their website, fill out a form to have one of their rep’s email you back because that is much more …
I pay for the bronze plan. I understand it’s the lowest heath care option, but nothing is covered. I pay out of pocket for everything. All that it covers is catastrophic injury. I pay over $330 a month.
So we had dental insurance with Blue cross of Idaho, At the end of 2017 I went on to the Idaho health exchange to adjust my insurance while on there I removed dental from them. I didn’t think much of it didn’t check my account withdrawals …
After being a member of Blue Cross of Idaho for 20 years, I was laid off from my job and had my insurance cancelled. I pick up an new individual policy and made the change on line. Blue Cross failed to recognize that my old policy was …
My work has decided to offer benefits through Blue Cross got my card yesterday call up blue cross because the doctor’s name was wrong on there. The lady I talked to said no problem your Dr is in network being St. Luke’s Internal Medicine. …
I enrolled in auto-pay for $82.50, however Blue Cross withdraw $291.50 which overdrew my account. After the memo was posted to my bank but before Blue Cross withdrew it, Blue Cross begged me not to put a stop payment on it and that I would …
My son had to stay in the NICU. The provider who saw him there turned out to be out of network. We were at an in-network hospital and had no choice who they had working there, but according to BCBS we’re still responsible for that …
They canceled my and my daughter’s coverage without telling me because I faxed them the wrong legal documents. Even though when I faxed them (to two different people) I attached a note asking if it was the correct documentation/if they …
In my experience, Blue Cross of Idaho WILL DENY your prescriptions to avoid being liable for payments. They contract with CVS to handle “prescription claims”. If you encounter an issue, CVS will blame Blue Cross of Idaho stating they are …
I have written a review and deleted it twice as I felt I was being too harsh. I try to never leave bad reviews because this world is harsh enough. But trying to get a prescription fulfilled tonight and having it denied was the straw that …
I don’t like to do this publicly to a company, but people need to know what this company is REALLY about.
Blue Cross of Idaho made me suffer unimaginable pain, unnecessarily for 2 very …
During my entire time dealing with illness, Blue Cross Idaho was the most helpful, kind, informative and professional. …
Blue cross was really terrible insurance. We paid $1800 a month for coverage that covered nothing. When I would call customer service, after being on hold for a very long time, they were never helpful. The final straw, I called and asked …
Service was good. Calling does not work though can be on hold for a while. Email or fax is best. But they do help once you get in touch with them
Worst experience with any medical insurance company I’ve ever had. The online bill portal has been broken for months (for everybody) and they just don’t seem to care. After hours on the phone with multiple individuals, I was required to go …
I’ve been with Blue Cross of Idaho for 2 years since I went on Medicare. I’ve been on their True Blue Rx Preferred (HMO) plan with MADPPO Dental and I’ve briefly tried two other Medicare Advantage plans (Humana and Molina) and after …
