Butler Hospital (RI) Reviews ( 65 )

  1. Security are blatantly abusive and transphobic. One once demanded I remove my skirt before going up to visit my partner in in patient. Another time they told my partner they would only allowed an examination by a male doctor, which my …

  2. Brought my ex here severely intoxicated and suicidal and they said he’d be released once sober. Worst hospital I’ve ever encountered. They don’t help ANYONE. They doctors don’t deserve their degree and they’re inconsiderate for the people who need it most. Don’t bring anyone you care for there unless you want them to get worse.

  3. I tried calling to speak to my brother and they won’t even pick the phone up very very sad I wouldn’t send my dog there I can’t wait till I see him in person Lord have mercy on that staff

  4. Be very careful of how you say things. They only hear what they want to hear and never listen to what you are saying. They hit you with loaded questions. Not a very nice place

  5. I’ve been here so many times and they’ve been excellent every time. There is one doctor in particular I but heads with because he’s arrogant, but 99% of the staff is awesome

  6. Nice staff, just don’t like the visiting hours 12 to 1:30 and 5 to 6:30… I should be able to spend time with a love one whenever… Very inconvenient. People do work and have lives ya know.

  7. All the staff at Butler has always been very helpful to me and I’ve been in and out of this facility since last year and every time I was a patient I have always left there feeling better about my mental health issues and also my substance …

  8. Thank you so much for everyone’s help, you all have wonderful inpatient programs, different floors, different faces, but wow you keep us safe, get us better, send us on our way with aftercare, nice…;-) & they love my service puppy WARM..

  9. My grandmother was experiencing stroke-like symptoms, and the ER doctor told her she was fine and the ER was for people who were going to die in the next 24-48 hours, and she shouldn’t be there.

  10. Made an “Appointment,” went to complete my “Appointment,” Dumb-Ass old man at Front Desk brought me to Crisis-Unit to be stripped searched and commited…Thankfully, I Asserted Myself and “The Cops & The Charge Nurse” realized the mistake …

  11. I sign up for a pregnancy study here for depression and stress during pregnancy the lady said because I see a doctor for mental health Nd take meds I don’t qualify like if it ain’t for depression I thought it was Tom help me monitor and see but apparently it’s not what the flyer stated for the study fraudulent

  12. Recieving out patient care getting all the help I need aiming at every angle of my problem areas. Amazing staff, caring and understanding. The group I am in is a room of open minded unjudgemental people. Highly recommend.

  13. Been there 3 times and 3 times been treated like it’s a crime to have mental health issues. Staff treats the people who are suffering, horribly. They are only there for a paycheck. Very pathetic.

  14. Nothing but an overpriced homeless shelter. Areserious or what . They do absolutely nothing for you but shuffle you off to another one of there facilities the Providence Center or The providence center CSU . Good place to go if looking for a good bed and breakfast and only have a insurance card to pay for it .

  15. Excellent mental health hospital if you are willing to help yourself as well. Unfortunately I have been to quite a few, this place was top notch. I wish some of the people on here leaving comments saw just how “bad” they can really be. Butler isn’t a med seeking hospital. They are going to give you what you NEED…not what you WANT!

  16. Sadly, I don’t think this Hospital is 100% safe for patients and their families. Some of their practices are utterly reprehensible, they’re unethical, inappropriate and downright dangerous. In my opinion, you should consider going elsewhere unless you want yourself and your family severely traumatized.

  17. Some of the staff are very kind and others are very rude. This hospital does not like it when you add insight to your own problems. It’s better to be dumb and let others define you and decide what you need. Also when it comes to anxiety …

  18. I went to Butler Hospital and I ended up spending 5 days there because of suicide attempts. At first, I didn’t like it because I was homesick and surrounded by people I didn’t know but as I got use to it, I felt like I was getting mental …

  19. I have only great things to say about this place and the staff. I have been treated there for 15 years now. The Doctors are kind, attentive and they go the extra mile to help you. They saved me and changed my life for better. Thank you!

  20. A young friend was told by her school she had to go there for counseling or would not be allowed to attend school. She did not know she was sent there to be admitted. She is 19. She is there against her will. I have visited her and all …

  21. My dad came in by ambulance with bad chest pains and shortness of breath and he’s been sitting in the waiting from for over an hour. What has this world come too? I understand with the amount of COVID patients if that’s the case send people else where!

  22. I highly discourage anyone looking for a primary care physician to consider Dr. Williams of Care New England Health Group. She is extremely unprofessional and when confronted about her lack of medical professionalism and ethics, she leaves …

  23. Neglected a young man’s mental health which led to him having an incorrect diagnosis which, in turn, triggered severe mental health issues for another family member and a “awwwww you’ll be fine” from one of the front desk workers.

  24. Wonderful experience at the TMS clinic. The staff are highly attentive, make you feel at home, and were very proactive about helping with various needs during treatment, including insurance coverage. Dr. Carpenter, the director of the …

  25. if you’re an adolescent (age 13-17/18) and you’re reading this review because you’re trying to find a place to get help, this is your sign to go here. the adolescent unit has no cameras, full doors unlike the adult units which have like …

  26. I have a loved one in their care now. She desperately needs alcoholic help and wants to be in a long term inpatient program.
They are giving her a run around and not telling her the true about where she …

  27. Butler Hospital inpatient was insanely traumatizing. butler hospital partial-treatment was incredibly pointless as the staff members never listen to your problems or take action to prevent any bad thoughts or behavior. …

  28. helped my brother get through extreme anxiety and depression he’s not quite yet where he wants to be but is doing much better thank u for helping him

  29. My own personal experience at Butter hospital was very professional. The staff always puts the patient first. They have licensed clinicians and Doctors who are very knowledgeable about several dignoses. They have group through out the day …

  30. Partial program for young adults sucks. All of the group activities are centered around kids games that 65% of the time seem like have no correlation to mental health or coping strategies. The therapist acts more of a doctor then a …

  31. The Activities Therapists are the best part of being on a unit. Some of the ATs go above and beyond all others. With a few, very bright, shining stars. However, for some reason during my most recent stay I noticed Butler Hospital is …

  32. Butler’s inpatient program was the worst I’ve been to (out of 3). I learned absolutely nothing and it did not help at all. I also got hand foot and mouth disease. Their TMS program was amazing though. The entire TMS staff was incredibly helpful and caring.

  33. The staff here is extremely rude and are not compassionate at all. There are very few great people here and for them I’m sorry. I’m sorry that they have to work with such inhumane people and honestly they don’t listen to you and don’t treat …

  34. Although no beds were available th man I talked to took the time to let me know how things worked and then talked to me about calling PCP. Best info I have gotten in days.

  35. Just called ahead because I wanted to go in for an evaluation as I am in pretty bad shape, lady who answered the phone was rude and said “oh well it doesn’t sound like inpatient is needed, we don’t have any beds anyways” i just hung up. Don’t be a mental health hospital if you don’t give a **** about mental health.

  36. Everything was pleasant for the most part. It can get pretty confusing if you’re not good at remembering things hahaha but the people who are there (patients) look out for each other and try to lift each other up, that’s kinda beautiful 😍 I …

  37. I have been treated there for substance abuse a couple of times, and I don’t have any complaints at all from their staff. They are very attentive to you,to what you need. The staff always has been very nice and sympathetic. I don’t have …

  38. This place has ruined lives with there human experimentation! Even on children-it’s despicable! The doctors here literally cannot tell for sure if the “patient” (or more accurate test subject) is even chemically imbalanced, so they assume …

  39. been here twice, both visits were really helpful and staff are the best. it’s what u make of it when u go, if you expect to have a horrible time, you’re gonna have a horrible time. but once you accept treatment, it isn’t that bad. i really recommend to go here as it is very helpful

  40. I am in need of a supervised alcohol detox.I just was reading all these reviews and I have to say much disappointed, where are the 4 and 5 stars? I admit some people are not positioned correctly in society, but I have encountered some of the …

  41. I have been here several times. I went through their ECT program once. Unfortunately all it did was make my short term memory worse. …

  42. Poor at least. The doctor on duty told my partner he could go home. They had my number wrong, so because they couldn’t get ahold of me they change plans and he had to stay for a week. They refuse to tell us the medication they gave him. I …

  43. So…i missed an appointment with my normal doctor and she wouldn’t give me my medicine that I had been taking for 20 years, until I saw her the next day. The medicine kept me happier, sane, and more fit for society. I went to the ER at …

  44. Thank you Butler Hospital for both times I received care at your hospital. While the facilities do need improving and there’s not much that can be done about that unfortunately, your staff and the quality of care, commitment, and safety is …
