Catalpa Health Reviews ( 55 )

  1. I’m very concerned about what is going on at Catalpa and the high schools they have only recently collaborated with. From what I can see, Catalpa is a pill mill basically. They meet with these children for 10 minutes, and the kids walk …

  2. We had a horrible experience at Catalpa. My son reacted badly to a medication prescribed at Catalpa, I understand these things can happen. I called them during the weekend to know what to do, they didn’t have providers on call and sent me …

  3. This place accepted my bill payment and then when overpaid sent the money to someone else not me and said I had to contact them very unprofessional and miss managed how do you send money to someone other then who paid it?

  4. Good experience at the clinic and with the staff – but calling them is FRUSTRATING – a long time on hold, hold message says “if you want to leave a message press “1” but when you do that nothing happens, also if you try to text back to …

  5. Discharged our son from care without notice, now scrambling to find him care. Also several billing issues over the years. The only reason they are still around is they are the only provider in town for children

  6. I got bills for unknown children in my name. They are supposed to help children find care that their insurance covers, from the looks of these bills, maybe catalpa should check if the kids insurance covers catalpa first.

  7. Really really wish there was more options for mental health for children. This place is a joke, communication is horrible, doctors just push pills. And primary cares are trained to referral any mental health issues to this place. Super sad for kids.

  8. Very hard to get in touch with my daughters doctor or nurse. The wait time on the phone is long only to be disconnected repeatedly. Our doctor has repeatedly cancelled appointments!

  9. Very poor communication.. went for one session and they never call me back for any session after they meet with my kid. I call to see if there’s something the therapist put in my kid file to see what’s the next step. NOTHING! I rather go somewhere else now.

  10. Like others have noted, horrible overcharging – even after trying to clarify at the outset how much it would cost. Everything seemed designed to extract the maximum $$$ in return for minimal services from minimally qualified staff. In the …

  11. I have been waiting since March to get my son in there. First appt cancelled while I was in the waiting room!! Then today it was cancelled again same Dr too. I don’t recommend them to anyone. Find a alternative to them.

  12. Called Dr rovicks nurse Kim over a week ago as my daughter was having high anxiety since her med increase & doing self harm. Finally heard from them on Monday…left a message & now it’s Thursday & no call back. Obviously they do not care about children’s well being. Per my school will be seeking help elsewhere!!

  13. We love catalpa! My oldest has been going for nearly 2 years to the same therapist. He adores her and she has given us a lot of personalized attention and tools for helping navigate parenting, big changes in his life, and more.

  14. My son went in for testing to see if he is on the autism spectrum. We thought everything was going good. When we went to the final results meeting the lady who did his evaluation told us that our biggest concerns we had going into this …

  15. Super LONG wait times to even be seen for an appointment. Then they stick true to what they say about “mental health for kids.” Won’t see someone once they turn 18 even though they are they are still in high school. Don’t start with them if your child is anywhere near age 18!

  16. If you have no other options then go. However the calibur and quality of the counselors is sub par. My teenage son came here once requesting to see a man. They have only one male counselor who wasn’t taking new patients. The woman we got …

  17. Negative Stars if I could! First of all, it takes quite some time to get anyone on the phone. I had my 4yr old evaled by recommendation of his school for behavioral issues. Evals for that age must be done in Appleton. I had a 1 hr …

  18. All of our experience with Catelpa health has been wonderful therapists are awesome They listen to the parents they listen to the children I need an emergency services for my child and are Amy got her in the hospital that afternoon at …

  19. super unorganized. it’s been an entire month since I first got in contact with the staff. I’ve had to give my sibling’s information three or four different times because the workers kept losing it somehow. I dropped off some legal paperwork …

  20. Horrible experience! Was referred by a teacher to have my 8 year old daughter take an ADD evaluation. So after arriving I pay the evaluation fee up front and it was pretty pricey but I’m ok with that. …

  21. The care has been mediocre at best. They throw pills at my son and don’t even talk with him or follow up to see how they work or don’t work. Good luck trying to pay your bill too! Call one number for a balance, (which they don’t answer) …

  22. My son had been seeing a therapist and that went really well, he was generally caring and really took the time to get to know him and actually listened to me and my concerns. Then when my on was paired up with a psychiatrist, he was paired …

  23. My daughter Brenda was Janelle Jensen’s patient after a suicide attempt. Janelle helped her through and we’re so thankful for her. She really became family and actually miss her face.

  24. Left a appointment with Dr. Rovick. Was told to call on a specific day the next week so we could go over medication options to switch my daughter. I called that day and never got a response. I have been calling everyday leaving messages …

  25. Great experience from every aspect. I have always received timely responses and the providers are top notch; knowledgeable and truly caring. Dr Dean Smith is outstanding in his field of child psychiatry and Danielle has an amazing gift of working with children through their toughest times.

  26. I watched two children go there for psychological assessments and counseling to help them cope with their parents divorce and the only thing that was a success was their mother was successful in spending their father’s money and driving an …

  27. I was a patient at Catalpa’s intensive outpatient therapy program. This place is a joke, and I wish I could give it 0 stars. In group sessions, talk about our trauma was shut down and we were constantly being invalidated by the therapists …

  28. I went to catalpa for Nero psych testing do to some significant delays in my child! It was three appointments and immediately felt judged upon meeting the psychologist. I felt he had already made up his mind about my child. The first …

  29. We have been going to Catalpa since they opened. We started out with Dean Smith, quickly changed from him, he has as much personality and bed side manner as a wet blanket. We were assigned a new Psych Dr and he has been awesome, we love …

  30. Would give zero stars if I could. Had two appointments for my son, in which very little assistance or advice was offered in either appointment. Came away with no action plans – just some pamphlets that appeared to be from the internet. We …

  31. I share legal custody of my daughter with her adoptive mother and was told that I couldn’t even make an appointment for her until I drove there and showed them my court order. I offered to bring it with me to the appointment but was told …

  32. Horrible! They don’t even know how to book appointments! Made my daughter miss school for an appointment that I scheduled directly with Dr Rueff. I go to the office on the day of her scheduled appointment and there’s NO Appointment …

  33. First appointment for my son to have therapy for his anxiety was cancelled without any communication. This appointment was at 7 a.m. Not only was I irritated about getting up early to show up for an appointment no one bothered to tell me …

  34. Whatever help they can provide your mental health will quickly evaporate when their billing is rejected by your insurance provider. The incompetence by their billing is such that they’ll use different codes for the same treatment of the same person every other visit. So 50% of their bills to my insurance provider are rejected.

  35. Like others have sad their billing is a disaster! Received a bill 6 months after appointments had been done and it was well over $1000 by that point and I was clueless thinking insurance was picking it up. Then when I went to make payments …

  36. Catalpa is the worst. Do not plan to go here if you actually need help with mental health. Over that last three months, the person that is supposed to me helping my daughter has made less than half the scheduled appointments. What’s worse, …

  37. I was sketchy about putting my daughter on ADHD medicine. I use Dr. Smith as my doctor for my daughter this place has been amazing and especially Amber his nurse. If it wasn’t for this facility I don’t know where I would be today. I …

  40. My child sees Lisa and she has been great. I like that she hears both parents and the child. It has been a tough road getting my child help before coming to catalpa. Many long wait list’s, rude health providers, or just over worked and …
