I’ve had a few different car loans from a few different banks and Gate City Bank is by far the worst bank in the history of banks, maybe ever. Total disgrace. Also their loan people are horrible.
Horrible customer service. I was messaged about a charge being stopped on the gate city app to find out it wasn’t stopped and they ran a NSF fee because of it. I called and they won’t do it all of a suddenly and want a NSF now.
The ATM out front doesn’t have any transaction fees. Very cool of you Gate City Bankπ β¦
Great bank…..until atms start screwing up. Gate will eventually “absorb” the mistake than state they do not wish to continue business.” We are in the business to make money.” Is THIER exact words. Hometown bank my ass. More like a bank β¦
I switched from Alerus over to these guys because I heard such wonderful things. Getting a loan always takes days longer than the loan officer will tell you. Just expect 2 weeks before everything is said and done. They’ll tell you 24-48 β¦
Gate City Banks interest rates are abysmal, but their service is top notch, they refund ATM fees, and many locations have fresh baked cookies. β¦
Great place to bank with. Very helpful people from the top down typically. Sometimes they have like dress up days which is humorous, but maybe unsettling the first time you walk into a bank to find all the tellers wearing Hawaiian shirts. β¦
Guess they just close the drive thru at whatever time they feel like it. Been using the drive through cashing for months after 6pm because I work overnights. Absolute garbage to just start closing it at 6pm. At least I won’t have to bother deciding if I want to make an account here.

They are ‘fine,’ but there is nothing that makes Gate City Bank stand out over any other banks in town now that they got rid of their online Money Management Tool as of Sept. 2022. That was the only reason we switched our accounts here. Now we are looking elsewhere for another bank with a great online management program.
