Great Lakes Eye Care Reviews ( 133 )

  1. Always a very good, efficient experience. Pre-exam with Manual and Keisha was done well and professionally. They answered a couple of questions for me. Dr. Tolsma is always personable and professional as was his assistant John.

  2. My wife had an appointment this morning. She got in right away, the technician was very pleasant and efficient, the time Dr. Tolsma took with her was wonderful. He explained everything completely, was very kind and friendly.

  3. A+ from me. Professional, easy to talk with, knowledgeable–and could answer some questions no one else had. Felt cared for, cared about, and that I was not just in good hands, but that she was ethical and dedicated to her job. . Jill Culby

  4. All of the staff was great. Dr. Enzor was amazing and explained everything so well. Monica was kind and Lakesha was happy and upbeat. If I missed anyone, sorry. But all of the staff was great.

  5. Great staff that care about you as a person and try to help others around the world through donating time and money to correct vision in 3rd world countries.

  6. VERY Deceitful, ask for your insurance information then proceed to bill you for your eye exam because they don’t accept Vision Care insurance and your health insurance won’t pay for your eye exam or prescription glasses. Avoid if getting …

  7. It’s like flea market of doctors like an assembly line one day I waited two and a half hours and I had to leave I had other appointments they so we’re just now getting to you I should buy I rescheduled they didn’t answer my questions clearly they would not give me a firm answer about what’s matter with my eye

  8. Had two of my children with eye issues go here and I thought they were great. Would not reccomend for someone without eye problems though there are cheaper and quicker places to go get an exam if you don’t need the extra care.

  9. Would not send anyone there!!! My father is blind in a eye because of them. They kept telling us had to operate on it and now he’s blind. Have a friend that they messed with for so long that she’s blind in both eyes!! They sent us to …

  10. After the worst exp of my daddys life a few years ago when a former “doc” caused him to be blind in his eye, I convinced him to go back today to have a conjunctival cyst looked it. They were booked til Sept but Sandy got us in and Dr Brown …

  11. No Star for this Eye Care, Absolutely. This Review is from a Honest patient who just want to get rid of an Eye issue called Reccurent Corneal Erosion. I got Cheated literally everytime i visited. …

  12. I think this is an excellent facility to go to if you have actual eye disease. If you are just going in for an eye exam and glasses, Wal-Mart or Lens Crafter would be just fine. I take a medication that could affect my vision, so I am …

  13. Original service was okay. Today, I called for my son’s glasses to get fixed and they told me to come in. I get here and they aren’t even open on Friday’s. The hours on Google are NOT ACCURATE at all. These are the right hours. I drove 45 minutes with my kids for nothing.

  14. Would leave 0 stars if i could. So panic-stricken about a certain outbreak, they will not honor appointments that were confirmed just the day before. Seemingly they will also call the police to come and oversee your exit if you so much as …

  15. Would I recommend this place if you had a serious optical issue? Yes.
Is the staff knowledgeable and courteous? Yes.
Would I recommend this place for a routine eye exam? Absolutely not. …

  16. I have been a patient here since I was very little. (I am now 20 years old) Never once have I had a bad experience. The wait is definitely a wait. But they always do what ever they can to help me. They are kind and patient with you, so be patient with them. Their all about you and helping you. No complaints from me or my family.

  17. Plan to spend at least half your day moving from waiting room to waiting room. If you’re appointment is at 10:30, don’t plan on being seen until 12:30 at the earliest. Is scheduling really so difficult?

  18. My 92 year old father needed new glasses after his successful cataract surgeries. The young man who assisted us was very helpful, with his knowledgeable insights and friendly suggestions. Our experience was definitely 5 star!

  19. Great Lakes Eye Care is wonderful! When I go here, I see Doctor Marohn. Wonderful doctor who corrected my prescription by figuring out my astigmatism was higher rather than the power for my glasses. He also allowed me to test many different …

  20. Absolutely horrible and an extreme lack of urgency. I’ve been waiting almost two years for a procedure to help heal my CSR… I have been there many times for scans and testing. All that they do, is tell me that they need to schedule a …

  21. I would never recommend this place! I was referred to Great Lakes by my ophthalmologist mid July. She wanted me to see a retinal specialist. My chart was marked urgent. I was told I would be contacted by Great Lakes. After a couple of …

  22. I was referred there from my Family Doctor. I received a voicemail shortly after from someone who sounded nice, wanting to schedule. I called them back, about an hour later. The lady on the phone had such a rude tone, like I was bothering …

  23. Horrendous experience with harassments for payment when the visits were made by my employer for a workplace accident. It was all workers comp and they cannot seem to figure that out. Many phone calls, I was told it was resolved and then I got a big bill 3 months after. Great doctors, not worth it. There are good doctors elsewhere.

  24. The Dr was great but the assistant lady was not nice to my son. She made him cry and did not do what the first lady did. I believe she was to rough to him. He’s not even 2 years old yet.

  25. Everything about this place is unprofessional. The front desk people are largely uninformed. I have had a bad experience every time I’ve been there, culminating with me showing up for an outpatient surgery only to discover that my …

  26. These have to be the most incompetent people I have ever met. Their billing system is archaic causing them to continue to charge for a bill that has been paid off. It took 3 weeks and 2 requests to receive paperwork. I would not trust them with my seeing eye dog.

  27. I was given a referral to this office because I’ve been having severe problems with my vision. They called me to set me up for an appointment, January 4th at 1pm. I arrived a few minutes early with paperwork, insurance cards and ID in …

  28. I requested an appointment on there website just to talk to a rude person on the phone more concerned about my insurance than an eye exam. Hey, plenty of other eye doctors who would love my business.

  29. Very unprofessional! Once you check in, you sit in a waiting room for 1/2 hour. Then you’re taken back for an exam by an unidentified person. Then taken out to another waiting room for another 30 minutes. Then called in for another test …

  30. It is now closing time and My Dad is still sitting back there WAITING to get his eyes checked.. they took him back, did a couple of things, took him to another room turned the lights off Had him read the letters, Then Dialated his eyes Then …

  33. Very professional, courteous and friendly establishment, from the check-in staff to the clinical assistants, doctors, and check-out staff … amazing and wonderful! Doctor Pletcher is especially great!

  34. Dr Rikki Ensor is a new addition to Great Lakes Eye Care. She has had an additional one year academic training solely for glaucoma. I am grateful to be one of her new patients. Her academic knowledge and training has already benefited me.

  36. Long wait to see the doctor. The most pleasant experience was with the person who checked me out and scheduled my next appointment. The techs were very professional.

  37. Dr. Tolsma is cheerful and thorough. He explains his procedures clearly and answers questions. The other staff at the office is equally pleasant, and appears competent. I respect and would recommend Dr. Tolsma.

  38. I’ve gone to Dr.Brown for many years now. I trust everything he tells me. He is fabulous. My kids saw other doctors in this group and they are wonderful also. I personally would not go to anyone else until I have to because of his …

  39. I have been a patient of Dr. Nicholson’s for 4+ years and although he has a huge patient load, he has been conscientious and forthright with me whenever I see him. I believe him to be a fine doctor.

  40. Dr. McKey is personable, professional, detailed, thorough, knowledgeable, a great communicator, adept at working with his technical support team, and passionate about providing high quality eye care.

  41. Dr McKey is fantastic. He is thorough, patient and explains his assessment in a very understandable way. I have great confidence in him – very professional and very personable. Sid Mohn

  42. Dr VanElk provides excellent eye care service. He listens, explains procedures, and is knowledgeable about up-to-date practices. He is personable and takes time to answer questions.

  43. I always enjoy my visit to Northwest Eyecare. Dr. Ben Nicholson is always friendly and helpful. I had a difficult appointment with a laser treatment but, as always, he made it as comfortable as possible. He almost started on the wrong eye but was quickly corrected by Rachel.

  44. I love this place and the Doctors because they have a variety of Specialists por all the needs of the eyr. It is true that you have, sometimes, to wait a long time to be seen, but it is because the Doctors there, really take the time to …

  46. Disappointed! Today is the second day that I was scheduled to have my first follow up with Dr. Pletcher. Last week, I arrived a few minutes prior to my appointment. Was called back within a reasonable timeframe and then I waited, and …

  47. I have no quarrel with the doctors with whom I’ve interacted. I do think that overbooking is the root cause of having to spend way to much time waiting in reception, exam rooms for technicians or the doctor, and other ancillary waiting …

  48. I always come away from my visits with Dr. Pletcher feeling like he truly cares and that I am not just a number. He is warm, personable and in my opinion very competent. My experiences under his care,
including cataract surgery have all been very positive.

  49. The doctors seem okay and most of the staff is friendly. The wait to see the doctor is horrible, they say to plan on spending several hours there. I was just going for a recheck for a procedure I had a few weeks ago and I thought it would …

  50. Dr. Cooke and his team are top notch. It is hard to believe we have this quality of eye care in our little area! Dr. Brown is so kind and explains everything. I am very protective of my eyes and do not like anyone touching or being near …

  51. Dr. Cook was wonderful. He spent time examining my 90 year old mother and explaining his findings to both her and to me. For the elderly who are cognizant, it is critically important that a physician speak directly to the patient rather …

  52. Dr. Van Elk is one of the most compassionate and careful doctors I know. I appreciate his very human approach. One never feels rushed in his presence. He cares about people. I think scheduling is the biggest problem because wait times are long. But that isn’t his fault! My rating of five stars is for him.

  53. The estimated visit time was accurate and even a little more than I actually had to wait, which was nice. Dr. Marohn is always attentive, friendly, and helpful. He took the extra time to recheck my numbers when my vision was showing …
