Our Credit Union started with very humble beginnings; a group of nine individuals came together to meet one simple need: making credit available to those with small means. Over eighty years later, HFS still holds onto its same sense of ‘ohana with a deep desire to help those in our community to succeed and grow. Helping you reach your goals is what we’re all about. Membership is open to all who live, work, worship, attend school, volunteer or participate in associations headquartered on the island of Hawai’i. I recently worked with Lianie, a loan specialist at HFSFCU, and my experience was wonderful. She helped me with my car refinance loan as well as helping me to obtain my very first credit card. First bank that Ive had where the system went down for multiple hours, and I (or anyone else on The Big Island) wasn’t able to access their money. Unable to purchase items with your debit card or use it to withdraw money from an ATM.
Their customer service is horrible. My 87 year old mother tried to open an account with money on hand and they were asking too many requirements. She ended up opening an account with Home Street Bank with only one ID. I mean who refuses money? I got reminded why I left this credit union.
Very friendly, competent and thorough staff. They are the best and remind me of the days of the past where aloha spirit was practiced by all. These guys remind me of the true aloha spirit of small kid time.

Love this place as they are always nice and happy. The line goes by moderately fast and the tellers are always happy to help you. I haven’t had one bad experience banking here and will definitely do more banking here. This is also a great first bank for starters.

Been a long time customer here. A lot of services are free for members (e.g. notary public, coin exchange machine, bank drafts, etc.) or low cost. They also have locations island wide for added convenience.
