Holland Board of Public Works Reviews ( 43 )

  1. Terrible experience with these people, switching payment services and neither of the options work forcing me to call and pay over the phone each month consumers is way easier

  2. I tried to pay on the phone before it was do but it didn’t want to work so when I called the next day they decided to not only charge me my bill but also an additional $140

  3. Customer service is horrible. Every time I call, the women who answer the phones always have an attitude or sound annoyed. No matter who answers it’s always a struggle.

  4. When my Consumers Power is out, Holland Power’s electricity is always on in the homes that have it a half mile from my house, and Holland Power charges half of what I pay.

  5. Would give them zero stars if that was an option. I can’t think of anything they’ve done right so far. We need more options, I would never be with them if I didn’t have to. Yikes.

  6. There water report is a total joke! Not only is most of it ( ok almost all of it) completely outdated and some important thing are missing like the tds range! They list a few commonly known ppm’s and ppb’s but the list is competitively …

  7. They didn’t open with the reatrants and everything else sends me a letter . wandering why I haven’t paid my bill cause they ain’t open. But all those people out of work and want to charge me a covenance fee

  8. Not a fan of their bill payment site online. Did not receive my bill in the mail as selected. Their customer portal is not well functioning as it refuses my valid email address I have for all my billing functions. They need to step it up.

  9. Trying to pay online is a damn nightmare! Site is either down or won’t load. Paying over the phone same, NIGHTMARE!!! Get your Sh** together BPW, it’s 2018. Your about as unprofessional as it gets. I would give no star’s if it let me. Frustrated.

  10. Had a tree break during recent wind storm. Tree was leaning against power and cable lines. Called BPW at 5:15 pm to report the problem (we did not lose power through all this). They had a linemen at our house by 5:45pm ( same day) and tree …

  11. Got a flyer in the mail to bring in old Christmas lights and exchange for new led lights starts 2pm till 5pm. I stoped by at 2:35 pm and they were all out. Really?? Don’t they know how many residents there is in the city.. I will never participate in anything B P W has again.

  12. This place makes paying a bill tougher than getting a mortgage. The website is cumbersome. I enter my account number and the system continually states that no such account exists. And the automated phone system is slow and painful. They nick you for paying with a credit or debit card.

  13. BPW has always been very kind and helpful during difficult times. Marie, especially, has been beyond kind, generous and understanding. With everyone she must try to work with every single day, she has always been so patient and helpful to me during times where help was needed! Thank you so much.

  14. One star is too many, have canceled service MULTIPLE TIMES and they are still sending us bills to our new address even though we’ve been moved out for months now and aren’t even in their service area (at least Consumers knows who their …

  15. Not one of these people who don’t pay their bills on here complaining. I’ve went in to pay my bill and seen first hand how they treat people in this community it’s sickening. From the young to the old even during this virus crisis people …

  16. The Holland Board of Public Works decided to outsource their payment processing to a profiteering company known as Payment Service Network. They charge 3 dollars as a “Convenience Fee” to pay on-line. I could understand this if it were just …

  18. For those looking for a way to skip the payment convenience fee, you can use their third party PSN online to look at your bill, and then enter the amount through your bank’s bill pay service to mail them a check. I set a rough average …

  19. BPW rates and charges are way a lot lower than Consumer Power or Great Lakes. When there’s a power outage, their linecrews worked 24/7 to restore the power as soon as possible whether it’s during freezing cold winter, rain, storm or hot …

  20. This place is a nightmare to deal with. Things are constantly going wrong – they shredded my payment and then send me a shut off notice and accuse me of not paying/lying about paying, tell me to get on automatic payment but I’ve been warned …

  21. There is a $3 “convenience” fee in order to pay your bill online and they are never helpful when we call for anything. They charged us a huge deposit just to have electricity when we first moved to Holland in 2015 (which we’ve never dealt …

  22. Received my final bill, says I have a credit of $113.30. Never asked for a credit, I want my refund back, as I won’t ever be using your service again anytime soon. I requested a refund when I turned my service off. Now it’s been 7 days and …

  23. I’m satisfied with the service I get if I go inside to pay a bill or when I call to ask questions, but in an effort to become more self sustaining and more green, my husband and I are looking into solar panels. Not only does the BPW not …

  24. My wife and I recently moved to an apartment in Holland and were saddened that we couldn’t use Consumers anymore. With no other choice we went with Holland BPW. It has been a nightmare for the past 3 months. The electricity works as it …

  25. Not happy. BPW is making me pay $90 deposit to re-start my service due to a couple bills in question. Maybe if they didn’t make their billing so complicated that I wouldn’t have this issue. Also DO NOT pay through the phone! I did a couple …

  26. I’ve used Holland BPW for 2 years now, and nearly half that time has been spent fighting with them over my bills for various reasons. Some of the issues include charging my landlord instead of me, the auto-pay taking a payment despite me …

  28. I have been an bpw customer for over 15 years . We are moving to a new apartment in the same complex. Bpw is going to charge us 160.00 to transfer service . I already have a bill of 153.00 due on the first . Bpw says it is based on credit …

  29. Have had BPW since moving into the city 6 years ago. I have never experienced difficulty paying my bill, in fact it is set on autopay, which I set up online without difficulty. Letter of reference from Consumers stating my previous account …

  30. Working with third party company. Unwilling to give receipt. Haven’t received paperwork in the mail for months. I called and informed that I switched jobs and could pay Friday and had my power shut off on Thursday after I paid my bill that morning. You guys couldn’t help because of third party company rules. Is that legal?

  31. Single mom, doing literally everything I can to pay these bills, was shut off paid the reconnect, well waited to pay all the fees used their kinda free pay ( it’s still .31) waited 11 days!!! For it to clear, life happened, and now they are …

  32. This place should be 0 out of 5 stars! Negative if it were possible. The staff is rude and cold. I chewed the lady out on the phone because when I opened the account I paid a $160 deposit. Fine. Totally get that. But when I did, the …
