Iowa Psychiatry Reviews ( 62 )

  1. Terrible!! I used to see Dr Robinson at Iowa Psychology but would never refer or recommend this clinic to anyone! The reviews are true and I wish I’d read them before choosing my psychiatry care provider. They did not explain the protocol …

  2. I tried to get an appointment but they don’t answer their phone, you have to leave a message and they tell you they will return your call when 48 hours, it will be a week tomorrow…

  3. Don’t even bother trying to get an appointment if you have Medicaid…they won’t accept you as a patient. I guess you’re just screwed if you don’t have a bunch of money to get an appointment.

  4. Complete lack of understanding and lack of professionalism from front desk staff. Definitely lacking in trauma informed care and services. Would not recommend, especially if you are a POC.

  5. Met with me for 15 minutes, later on I come to find out he thought I was intoxicated. I wasnt, however I was pretty triggered already from therapy that morning. Incompetance, or feigned incompetance to get rid of someone who just doesnt belong. Im not sure which is more concerning.

  6. The receptionist can never get billing correct. Charged me for a day my DR wasn’t in office and for days I had already paid for.

  7. There are plenty of other offices in the Des Moines metro to choose from that are much higher quality. If you want your phone calls to be returned, do not come here. If you want friendly staff do not come here. If you want excellent customer service, do not come here.

  8. I’ve been with Dr. Eastin for 10+ years now (pre- Iowa Psychiatry!) and have zero complaints to date when it comes to him or other staff just in general even. …

  9. The PA that my son sees has been the best provider he has ever seen!! She will sit with him for whatever time he needs to process his issues. The other providers he has seen do not do this.

  10. I had not been here in awhile and didn’t know I owed money. After giving my information the secretary said rather loudly “WE SENT YOU TO COLLECTIONS BYE.” This is not an ethical way of handling clients who are potentially suffering and could need emergency help. Seek help elsewhere if possible.

  11. They do not accept united healthcare. I’ve been seeing a doctor who I was extremely happy with for about 6 months, and then my job switched health insurance providers, and now I’m back to square one because for whatever reason they do not accept it. This is extremely unfortunate because the staff are great.

  12. Dr. Cindy Teasdale is great! I have seen her for over a year and I am very thankful. She truly cares and takes the time to understand what you need and why. I trust her and highly recommend her.

  13. DO NOT GO HERE. I called to see if they have an appointment available, and she said they did the end of January. But then wanted my card on file, in case I don’t show up so they can charge me $190. I asked the lady what if there was a …

  14. I have had the same Doctor for 15 years. He is currently here & I thank him for my life. I wouldn’t have made it through those years without him. 10 Stars to AR!!!! I’d also like to point out that that they will drop you bcuz of their …

  15. I had to wait TWO Months to get an appt here on an Extremely critical matter. I was late TEN minutes due to an accident. I said I would gladly pay for the full hour. However Scott gave a firm no, saying he needed the entire hour to make …

  16. If you can find another provider, I would encourage you to do so. At least at this point. This business have yet to refund co-pays that are over 4 months old. Very, Very poor customer service. If I get the issue resolved within the next …

  17. This is the most unprofessional place I have ever seen, I seen a doctor three times in 2016, I evidently didn’t pay one of the co-pays (15 dollars), which I don’t recall because it was so long ago, but not one time did they call or send …

  18. Great experience. I’ve been there one time and Dr. Robinson, I felt, really listened to me, which can be difficult for anyone at times. 😉 Kidding aside though, I felt everyone was friendly and helpful. They were running a little late, and I …

  19. Tried to get an appointment for my husband, not impressed with the lack of professionalism of the office staff. Very difficult to get a return call, supposedly w/in 48 hours. Reception staff of Megan & Lindsay need to learn interpersonal Communication skills. They are also NOT medical professionals.

  20. Have only been seen virtually due to Covid, but Jenn Norton has been amazing! She actually listens to what I have to say and can keep me on topic. With her help, I am finally stable without feeling sick or like a zombie.

  21. Dr. Robinson is LITERALLY one of the only reasons I made it through my sophomore year in college, he listens and doesn’t jump to conclusions about what you may have mental health wise and gives GREAT advice on specialists and references on …

  22. Dr. Robinson is the best. There is a reason it takes forever to get an appointment with him! He listens to my concerns and allows me to collaborate in finding a solution. I recommend him without reservation. …

  23. This is a top notch mental health center. The waiting area is clean and gives loads of space. The staff has been enormously helpful and always cheerful. I call for assistance and always get a quick response. …

  24. I’ve been happy with my psychiatrist and her attention to my care. I however have been extremely unimpressed with the office staff. They somehow managed to ‘check me in’ for my appointment of which I was perfectly on time for. Then after …

  25. My family has tried to access mental health services in many places across the Des Moines area over the years. I have to say that Iowa Psychiatry is one of the best we’ve worked with. They respond to your calls; they call you back when they …

  26. They refused to return my call about a prescription they were supposed to call in, which wasn’t there when I went to pick it up. I played phone tag with them for several weeks and always got sent straight to voicemail. I paid on time every …

  27. I’m not a guy who makes a living writing bad reviews about companies/professionals as I understand everyone has bad days and things don’t always go perfect.
However, I’m taking the time to write this one to help others. …

  28. Dr. Jennifer Norton is amazing. She’s been with me for about 4-5 years. She’s caring, friendly and attentive. The staff is also very friendly and I never feel like a burden when I call

  29. My wife didn’t understand that she had to get paperwork in ahead of her virtual appointment. So when she entered the online portal to go into the appointment, she didn’t realize they had canceled the appointment. When she called the office, …

  30. This place is worthless. I wasted the last 6 months of my life trying to get help from these people to be in an even worse mental state than I started in, and be dumped as a patient with literally no explanation. …

  31. Today I had an appointment at 11:30am that i had full intentions of making, this might be tmi but i started my period this morning about 10am i started having mild cramps. By 11am they we’re getting more intense but i didnt want to miss my …

  32. I have seen Dr. Jennifer Norton for about the last year, and she has helped my life in so many ways. She takes a holistic, thorough assessment in order to really understand the patient and their lifestyle. She made many different medication …

  33. I’ve been going here since 2018. Constantly put on anti depressants that never worked, even put on a bipolar/epilepsy med for dissociation symptoms. I insisted my issues were related to PTSD the whole time but my provider didn’t seem to …

  34. Gave me.meds without a diagnosis I missed work from side effects and lost my job a truck driver not safe to drive. I have adhd was treaded with bipolar meds and antidepressants. I lost Mt job from this office then they hit me with a $900 …

  35. I emailed their office explaining who I am and the problems I need help with hoping to get a recommendation on the right person for me to see who would be available for new patients ASAP, and all I got was an incredibly insensitive email …

  36. I appreciate the provider working with me and giving me honest feedback, but the operational standpoint is atrocious. I was never given a link to join the telehealth, so I am being charged a no show fee for something that wasn’t my fault. …

  37. I have seen Jen Norton for approximately 7 years now. She is amazing and has helped me at different stages in life. I like that she helps you figure out your strengths v. weaknesses and your good v. Not-so-good coping mechanisms. I also …

  38. Well I’m SHOCKED FIRST OF ALL I MISSED AN APPT. BUT THE DR PUT ME ON 4 DIFFERENT PSCH MEDS I SLEEP 24/7 CAN’T FUNCTION… THEN THEY WANNA CHARGE ME 75$… IF I PAY IT I CAN HAVE ANOTHER APPT… WELL THE DR I HAD WAS not caring.

  39. I have been going here for years. Dr. Eastin was my doctor, he was great! Unfortunately, he stopped practicing. Now they won’t refill my meds. My appointment at my new doctors isn’t until next Friday. I guess I get to tell them that I try …

  40. My wife left a review of this office and told exactly how it was. They replied to the review immediately stating that she had not attempted to contact the office to resolve any of the issues. This is simply not true. Perhaps if the office …

  41. How can you rationalize charging someone $105 for missing a barely ten-minute virtual call by thirty minutes? I understand that a compensation fee is in order for missed appointments, but this is an absolutely ludicrous amount to charge …

  42. Dr. Robinson is the best doctor I have ever had. He takes the time to listen to your needs and helps you find the medication that will work for you. My life is changed because of Dr. Robinson – he is worth the wait!

  43. I have been seeing Jen Norton for years. I wish she was a therapist also, because she is the best mental healthcare provider I have ever had. She genuinely cares about her patients. She goes above and beyond what most psychiatrists will do. …

  44. Jacquelyn Johnston is hands-down the BEST mental health professional I have ever worked with. I have been seeing her for nearly a year now and have always left our appointments feeling optimistic. …

  45. If you are considering this practice please understand that they are a business first. They refill medication with workman like efficiency. However, doling out meds does not equal compassion. …

  46. Absurd that you must know exactly what is wrong with yourself in order to book an appointment. I need an evaluation by a medical professional, not to self-diagnose myself. Reception gives zero cares about what one needs or at the very minimum offer any solutions.

  47. Dr Robinson withheld a borderline personality diagnosis and bipolar diagnosis from me. I was put on mood stabilizers with no explanation. If I hadn’t requested my documents I would have never known about this diagnosis. This severely …
