Lee County Electric Cooperative (FL) Reviews ( 160 )

  1. LCEC HAS ALL IN SW FLORIDA LOCKED IN HAS ALL THERE CUSTOMER’S. WHEN THE SNOW BIRDS COME BACK WATCH YOUR BILL DOUBLES. FOR RESIDENCE OF LEE COUNTY SHOULD GET DISCOUNTS. NOT BE RAPED BY LCEC.

  2. My service and usage habits haven’t changed yet my bill increased over twice the normal amount and they refuse to check the reason. Their costumer service is useless.

  3. They are actually the worst light company I have ever dealt with! They don’t care about their customers nor do they even work with the customers..poor poor poor service…poor poor poor customer service!!!!!!!! When you speak to a rep you get better results talking to a damn wall! Ridiculous

  4. LCEC in a time of crisis that people are losing their jobs and no means of income for so many are not reducing their rates and not even offering a payment relief effort..

  5. This Co-Op is complete garbage. There is no need for them. We need to do alot of digging and Im confident we will find the fraudsters behind this board of directors. Customer Service is non existent.

  6. Very bad experience with the worker Angela today Does not want to give power because we did not have previous owners name County has not recorded yet because it was double closing So we out of power Thank you Angela Look for another job

  7. Your automated phone service sucks. I cannot believe how you operate with such a lousy system. Plus your websites ( all of them) do not tell where a customer can go to pay his or her bill.

  8. I’ve never had an issue or problems with them. They were in the area turning back power at the pole after Irma a few days after the storm and this area was hit hard and there were a lot of trees down.

  9. If this is your utility servicer, invest in a total home generator. Their infrastructure and resources cannot accommodate a power service restoration campaign for wind damage from Cat 2 hurricanes or EF 2 tornados.

  10. Been waiting to get service since September 1st. They do not return calls and the pole and transformer has been up and ready to hook up for two weeks. They don’t seem to care about health issues

  11. I applied for new service 3 months ago and every time I call they said a different date,4 appointments but never came what abuse.we need another Electric company in the area to improve the service.

  12. One of their drivers likes to be a tough guy inside his Toyota C-HR from Ave Maria, almost caused a vehicular accident by braking into lane and slamming on brakes and when confronted, he grabbed his phone as if he was going to call someone. …

  13. I definetly believe this company is just extremely ripping off customers with their extremely high prices. FPL is a much better company and this company is a disgrace!!! Everyone should keep complaining!! You cannot even get on a budget plan until you have lived here for 1 year!!

  14. Came home to no power tonight. Within 30 minutes of reporting the power loss LCEC was here. I’ve had a similar issue previously and it was resolved within a couple hours. Thank goodness for our linemen & women!! Thank you LCEC for the quick response & great service!

  15. I called up a few months ago and had power shut off at some property and apparently the power never got shut off and someone else has been using it. Lcec told me that they would have someone out to shut the power off and that never happened now I owe money for power that I never used and had asked to be shut off to begin with.

  16. Prices are very high. They will not work with you. They love to shut you off for being late. Terribly high deposits with very low return rate and slow to pay them back. They will charge you more deposit for being late even though your …

  17. Today, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jennifer
Though, there was a timely wait. Jennifer properly authenticated my account, she answered a number of questions and portrayed to be very patient and …

  18. I had FLP there rates were nuch lower, the charge a a processing fee if you have to use your credit card and then the franchise fee that I get nothing from. Just to top it off the City of Cape Coral to levy a PST tax that a percentage of …

  19. Called them Sunday night, and within minutes they were at my house to take care of a tree limb resting on the line. No power outage at all, and problem was taken care of quickly and very efficiently.

  20. Lcec is the worst… $200 deposit because I need a few more days to move so I needed my light turned back on. That is ridiculous. They don’t care. All they care about is money. I wish there was another power company in Cape coral.

  21. I talked with Keisha, a customer phone service rep, concerning my recently deceased father’s account. She was amazingly kind and very helpful. I happened to get her the second time I called, again, she was very helpful and knowledgeable about what I needed to do with my father’s account.

  22. Worst at planning. Worst at repairs. And your lives or houses well being do not matter to them. Have had a sparking transformer on top of dry dead grass and bushes but yet no response after 6 days. I call daily yet no one sent or dispatched …

  23. I was watching tv at about 2:30am when i heard a loud boom outside the electric turned off . I knew it had to be a transformer going down. I called LCEC and actually talked to somebody to report it. The electric is under the landlords name …

  24. Squatters moved into home while it was being remodeled. LCSO would not help. I called LCEC to have power shut off. They said it would be a week before they could do it but as soon as I told them about the squatters they came out 1 thing the …

  25. LCEC has a monopoly and no oversight. They do whatever they want and don’t care about their customers because, if you want electric, which you are legally required to have per state of Florida, you have to use LCEC. …

  26. Horrible customer service I was in hospital 15 days and my lights got cut off I made the payment when I arrived and notice that the power was off and they stated sorry you have to wait until tomorrow we don’t care about your situation

  27. When we purchased our home, we had a security light on the pole that was paid for by the previous owners. Was told by LCEC that once it was paid for, it would stay in operation until the bulb went out. …

  28. Had a couple of times when electricity went off. Called them and they were here very fast. Usually was a problem with a transformer behind our house. I think a lot of people complain on here because they do not pay their bills on time and they think they will complain to make LCEC look badly. Never have had any problems with LCEC.

  29. this electric company is awful, their rate is a lot higher than FPL they buy supply from FPL and upcharge the customer. very poor customer service. we are force to use this electric company even though they are charging way more than fpl. I …

  30. Absolutely the worst experiences I’ve had with an electric company in my 25years of paying my electric bill. Constant power outages with no reasons given and much more expensive than my previous home 15 minutes away in Fort Myers with FP&L (less crime as well). If you want to live in a Florida home do not move to Cape Coral.

  31. Power was out for 10 days and my bill was credited all of $17. When called regarding why this was such a low credit, customer service rep was rude and did not want to properly answer my question. Worst utility company I have ever had to deal with.

  32. Prices are better than FPL. Been lcec customer for 25 yes. These people just want free electric.
Not had to use customer service because I pay my bill ON TIMe! Good recovery after storm. Thankless industry/ business.

  33. Worst electric company ever. My power has been turned off for an entire day now for no reason at all. I called them 5x to actually talk to a live human being all to be told to call customer service tomorrow. I have a toddler who needs …

  34. I hate paying more .. more than FPL or TECO and using less power.. i was in FPL used wsy more power and payed allot less.. cost per unit is way too high.. almost high enough to be able to buy Solar system on monthly payments! One more hike …

  35. Thank God for the great guys who came out to restore power to our area of gator circle in Cape Coral tonight. The transformer on the corner blew up just after midnight on New Year’s Eve and an hour and a half later the power is back on. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

  36. We had our electric in 1 day here in North Fort Myers, after the hurricane. I haven’t had any problems, my electric bill doesn’t seem overly high either. My daughter lives in Bokeelia and her electric was out for way over a …

  37. I don’t know what going on with LCEC. For some reasons, I think they are targeting me. Every month my bill is getting higher whitout doing anything different . Last month I installed a new AC unit instead the bill goes lower it reaches it peak this month . Am I alone in this situation?

  38. 0 stars would be more appropriate!!! I am, as is everyone in Lee County, forced to be a LCEC customer. Their service is abysmally poor! My home experiences at least 12 brownouts with every storm, no exaggeration. Every brownout causes all …

  39. Terrible. Company and you have no choice to go with anyone else unless you want the expense of moving. This company is just a large scam that is somehow legal.

  40. We are sitting in vivid quarantine and have travel restrictions on the west coast. We are lcec customer with an apartment house. Last week we called lcec and ask to disconnect power on apartment 4. They did so and additional to this they …

  41. I have been an LCEC customer with the same address for 20 years now. I have never had a customer service problem. I have always been treated fairly and respectfully on the phone. They took good care of me and my neighbors during any and all …

  42. Not reliable service, power outage often, damage to appliances is constantly due power failures, I don’t understand why this company is still working in SWFL. There is not competitors ???

  43. Woke up to no power in our new residence (due to our lack of payment); called and established account information; waited approximately an hour for processing, gave another call to customer service and a service employee was at the house in …

  44. As usual-they are trained to lie. Service was to be removed in July- not done at road, properly. Called Wed. told would be done by end of Thurs. Not done-now say don’t have record of calls , don’t know schedule yet. waiving goodbye to equipment leaving the job-thanks again LCEC

  45. This company under the cloack of a cooperative appropiates extra deposits and takes them a decade or longer to return your money, devalued of course. I can’t believe this is legal.

  46. I set up electrical services for my company all over the US and this was such a painful experience. As a commercial customer, they want an arm and a leg (in the form of paperwork) just to turn your power on. …

  47. Update to say this company is unethical. Plenty of reviews show that this is a ongoing issue now they are doubling bills and trying to blame the customers. I got a email stating they are charging a 260 dollar deposit I call to find out why …

  48. I am tired of calling to explain to me what is happening with my bill they are not interested, they say we are going to call you nothing, we are a family of only three people, this month when I receive 462 dollars of electricity a joke

  49. I would like to know how Lee County co-op exist they have constant power outage on a regular basis when the sun is out it’s a beautiful day but this cheap run low budget electric company is horrible a one star is below what they even rank …

  52. Just got my LCEC bill for the month of July and was charged 120.00 more than last month. That is a huge increase. I was struggling to pay last months bill now as a single mom how am I to pay this one?

  53. not sure how you expect people to live with 30-40% rate increase in a month, people are already drowning over the cost of food, gas , housing nothing like pushing them closer to being homeless !!!

  54. Terrible…..i have been calling for a week straight…i have solar panels that are more than enough to run my house did all of last year..but all of the sudden this yr i get bills from lcec that grow more and more each month…they tild me …

  55. I know most people Bash Utility companies, and many times, justified. But, I recently had an amazing experience with LCEC, in particular MaryEllen and her Supervisor who eliminated over $2,000 of Fees and Charges from an unruly Tenant who …

  56. High rates and for some reason I have charges from when my power was out due to Ian. They tell me it won’t be on the bill but where are they populating that data from?

  57. CHARGED US FOR ELECTRIC THAT WE DID NOT HAVE FOR 13 DAYS AFTER HURRICANE IAN!

You have to report LCEC to the states attorny’s office if you have any issues. …

  58. Worst electrical company ever, power goes out so many times during hurricane season is crazier last hurricane we spent a month without power while every other neighborhood around us have power the crazy thing our neighborhood I fill with senior citizens I wish we could have FPL in our area

  59. Price increase, really??? (Price Gouging) my bill more than doubled, increased 61%+. They refer me to public agencies. I do not think it is fair to pass these inflated prices on to public supported organizations. $400.00+ with no pool, no AC, no changes in usage habits from last month. One person in the home. 800 sq ft.

  60. lCEC is lying about the percentage amount of (PCA)Power Cost Adjustment they are passing on to their customers. Peoples electric bills have almost doubled. This is ludicrous and something needs to be done about it!!!!!!

  61. Garbage service they say that they want to help their customers but they don’t. They don’t try to help costumers lower their bill during the summer time. If I can get another electric company in my area instead of being force to use this garbage company I would

  62. I have 2 homes in Florida and one in Pennsylvania. That said, FPL has way better service with PECO having a close second. LECE is horrible with constant outages causing loss of grocery’s, poor customer service and higher rates than FPL. If I could switch to FPL I would in a minute.

  63. Outstanding response time to a storm / lightening outage on McDaniel Drive. Replaced a majority of the pole equipment in under 30 minutes. Well orchestrated maneuvers completed the job before dark. Unsung heroes. Thank you for keeping our light on!

  64. They increase the average price from a year ago by 27% and cite fuel costs as the reason, yet oil prices are down almost 40 dollars from this time a year ago. …

  65. Power goes out all the time. I mean at least a couple times a week. Sometimes it just goes out for a few minutes, but a lot of the time it goes out for hours on end. This is extremely inconvenient and with how much I spend every month (way …

  66. I wish I could give no stars can never get anybody on the line they charge you to pay your bill and rates are so high its ridiculous tired paying my bill cant even get thru automated system it’s giving a busy signal whoever made the decision to have outside companies other then FPL should be ashamed of them selves

  67. I am on day 6 with no power I don’t understand why it’s taking this long for the cape to get power. Everyone else has power but Northeast Cape does not and I don’t think that is fair

  68. They are price gougers. My bill for the month of August was $430. I disconnected my pool pump, raised my AC up to 76, started turning the computer off every single night, insulated my windows and doors, and somehow for the month of September my electric bill was $440. How did the price go up when I used less electricity?

  69. Thank you to all the people who are working through this traumatic, heartbreaking disaster that hurricane IAN has left. Special thanks to lily or Lilith I believe her name was..hope I didn’t get her name wrong, but she was absolutely amazing, kind, & helpful during this rough time for everyone.

  70. Horrible company unprofessional & liars. The sad thing is we have no choice to use their services. FPL WOULD NEVER TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS. Hurricane Irma We went 2weeks without power.

  71. Awful Company! Since Hurricane Irma our pole has been damaged. It is bent and the Live Wire is dangerously close to our roof. So close in fact that I cant clean the gutter on that side without fear of being electrocuted. It is also rotted …

  72. Worst electric company in the state of Florida, FPL should take over all of their territories, 12 days without power and still people without power for not wanting help from other estates, good thing that we have desantis as a governor and handled it, you really are the worst

  73. Horrible customer service. We have not seen a truck in 4 days. A LCEC bucket truck parked on our street all day and did not move. The guy was on his phone but did not get out or do anything. Desantis was right calling them out they don’t care. Only 1000 service men for this outage. Poorly done.

  74. Ridiculous customer service. Turned off our electric after we had already made a payment for this month & then basically told us “sucks to suck” and we had to pay it again to turn the electric back on. I was without air conditioning with my …

  75. Thank you and bless you for your tireless work! People should appreciate your efforts to restoring our power as fast as humanly possible. I for one truly do appreciate you and the fact that you leave behind your own families and probably damage ridden homes for the sake of others! Thank you!

  76. Would give zero stars if I could have had lcec for 4 years and been over them since the beginning….hit me for a 650 dollar deposit when theyalready have a 200 deposit from original turn on and this all started all of a sudden once they …

  77. Horrendous customer service. I paid my bill, EARLY by three days & they proceeded to take out the month of June AND July, although we hadn’t even began the month of July at the time. I called to discuss the matter and the customer service …

  78. So this is how LCEC operates . They don’t hire people for any customer service and if you try to confirm disconnect there is no way to do that. Do they think they can just keep billing after form was sent by ignoring. Seems to be they practice for all Florida businesses

  79. Terrible service. I live in SE Cape Coral just south of Veterans Parkway. Day 9 no power. Poorly run company. We should be given the option to have FPL but that isn’t the case. LCEC is all about the money, not people. They deserve a zero star rating.

  80. Every hurricane it takes forever for them to get power back on. I can see the glow of FPL customers lights from my back porch a d know it will still be days before they are able to get power on.

  81. Absolutely horrible. I wish there was am alternative. Spoke with an agent on the phone. They told me to disconnect my service if i dont like it. Where am i going to go? They hold a monopoly in Cape Coral. …

  82. Their lack of concern after the hurricane Ian to get service restored ASAP not asking for help from other utilities companies. Taking the governor to force them to ask for help l guess not wanting to pay for their time. Showing no concern …

  83. Why do they keep raising our bills but when something happens like a hurricane we don’t have electricity for days or weeks? When you call about an outage they lie and say it’s being worked on in your area right now.. Days later your still waiting. Maybe they should have to pay for all our spoiled food. They are a joke.

  84. Just a reminder you work for US. You denied help from others untill the Governor called you out. taking you over 11 days to turn power on. ppl have no water without power…. thank god someone from GA cared enough to stop and see if we were …

  85. U guys need to improve the quality of services . I still can’t understand why my power bill go up to 1000$ every month. I only stay home 1 day a week . I requested a technician inspection, u said :it is whaT it is! That’s my bill
    Shame on u!

  86. I am very disappointed with the service we have received from Lee County Electric. It has been over a week that we have had electricity in our 55 and older community because they do not want to pay for contact help restore it. Pay for the help and get all of your customers back to restoration! That’s what we pay for!

  87. Not even worthy of 1 star. Lcec is criminal. Of course they have restored Marco island, that’s full of rich people. Who cares about the rest of Lcec’s areas.. like Cape Coral with almost no one restored 5 days into this post hurricane. Then …

  88. I have been a customer of LCEC since 1976. When Cape Coral and NFM were small rural communities they did a wonderful job and were very community oriented. It saddens me that has changed. It also saddens me about their Hurricane preparedness …

  89. 10 days no power after Ian. Haven’t even seen a truck down my street. FPL managed to get most of their power restored. LCEC is just a lousy middle man. They buy power from FPL and pass the increases costs to us. Why do we need them?

  90. This is the most incompetent inept they just I have ever dealt with they have no customer service they could care less about any customer! They won’t accept my payments online due to the fact that they say my bank Wells Fargo had returned …

  91. horrible electric company, i’ve always had fpl and never had a problem, until i had to move here to lee county this thief’s charge 27$ just to be connected to the tap when you have solar panels fpl 10$ also they charge 52$ per 1000 kwt my …

  93. Wow 20 years of issues, and somehow worse now than before. This monopoly is the only reason they are afloat. Before Xfinity came to this area it was the same with century link. Overcharging for terrible service. I hope one day soon we will …

  94. Can I leave no stars?? First of all, thanks for overcharging me for electric. Second, thanks for sending me the reminder about payment coming due during hurricane Ian. Third, thanks for letting my condo buildings being the VERY LAST thing …

  95. If I could Give LCEC -stars I would. Worst electrical provider in the state of Florida. I wish they would go away. And never be in business again. They over charge, customer service sucks. Call center is slow. Just all in all not worth being a customer. So it’s 0 stars for me

  96. How in the world can this company get away with ripping people off.
Six months ago I had cameras installed around the house and not once have I seen an LCEC employee come by to read the old meter. LCEC Stop ESTIMATING how much electricity we use and send someone to read the meter because I bet my bill is not over $450.

  97. The day before Hurricane Ian hit Southwest Florida. I received an e-mail from LCEC saying there equipment was not sending accurate electric consumption and billed me $2,300+. They said my usage for the current 12-months was more than 10 …

  100. Going on day 11 with no power. Went out today saw no trucks even working. Who ever is running this company needs to be fired. They can’t admit they need help from other line workers and have to be forced into taking the help. You can never …

  101. I would give zero stars if possible. Customer service horrendous, power in four years living here has got out more then my entire time anywhere else and thats 34 years worth. This company will make you want to move away from Cape Coral.

  102. Terrible customer service. New construction next-door required the power to be off for a lengthy amount of time at our house, but they failed to provide advanced notice and I missed wages because I work from home. Today the power went out …

  109. If I could give zero stars I would. We’re going on day 7 of no power after Hurricane Ian and there’s next to no communication from LCEC on when we’ll get power back. They restored power to 5% of Cape Coral in 6 days. On top of that they’ve …

  110. During this hurricane they are focusing their attention on other areas and refusing outside resources. I’ve been 7 days without power. They have only been doing maybe 1000 people a day since like Saturday in the Cape. I live on SE 24 Ave …

  111. I live in North Fort Myers, it took LCEC from the day of the hurricane at 10:29am until Friday at 4:15pm to give us power and that was without any information whatsoever. But that wasn’t the end of it at 9:50am on Saturday me and 11 of my …
