The Macon Water Authority was formed in 1880 by an act of the Georgia General Assembly to serve as a public corporation. It provides municipal water and sewerage services for the city of Macon and Bibb County areas. Some of the departments of the Macon Water Authority are water distribution, sewerage conveyance, and laboratory and environmental compliance. In 2007, it was one of the six pilot communities to participate in a statewide educational program on outdoor water conservation. In 2009, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) conferred upon it, the honor of the Best Tasting Drinking Water in North America.

  7. They changed systems and didn’t issue my new account number until after late fees and administrative fees were due. Unfair. Extra $20 out if my pocket because they made it inconvenient for me by changing my info. They have always been rude. Monopoly…no other choice.

  8. Not one person knows their policies here. I talked to 3 different people. First one told me I could pay that day and be fine. The second told me no. The third charged me $35 to cut the water on the same day. Water wasn’t turned on until the following day. Horrible business!

My account is always past due because I’m never receiving my bill on time they email me the bill the day it’s due 5 minutes after the place closes so how can I call and discuss it?

  13. I’m not happy with how they went about to generate their bills due to a “hack”.
    I had a property that was vacant through eviction and they insisted I pay the same amount as it showed some time in the past . That’s bs. If it’s a vacant then some adjustments need to be made.

  27. I found this to be one of the absolutely least honest, difficult public utilities I have ever dealt with. They use circular logic and even though they admit a problem exists, they double down on it. Very disreputable and the reason why utilities should all be deregulated.
