New Hampshire Employment Security Reviews ( 131 )

  1. Outdated software. Incompetent customer service. Backwards thinking implementation of unemployment requirements and leverage of withholding unemployment during seasonal layoff when expected to return to same employer. NH office requires you to change employer to utilize services. Negative stars would depict accurately.

  2. Start hiring professionals. Your people are rude and lack empathy. Who’s running this place. Read the reviews. Your a disgrace to the community who needs these services .

  3. Get rid of the highly repetitive automated on hold message
and terrible music–people are stressed enough without being on hold
for hours with same bad message looping every few seconds.

  4. I DONT U DERSTAND I WORK FOR THE A BUS COMPANY AND WORKED MOST OF TIME SCHOOL IS CLOSED. WHY CAN I NOT COLLECT FOR 4 WEEKS AND THEN BEGIN THE NEW YEAR AGAIN?

  5. I try to call they wont answer. I leave voicemails five of them only one person got back to me on my third one but when i called back not long after no answer to my call or my new voicemail.

  6. I have had to call several times and though the wait may have been a bit longer than usual (understandable) customer service was kind with each call and helpful.

  7. Website is outdated and confusing, then spent 45 min waiting on the phone only to have someone rush through my questions and basically didn’t even answer them. Now they are only taking phone messages so god knows how long it will be to hear back from them now.

  8. they said my account is incomplete but cant create a new one cos my info is there. plus i cant log into my incomplete account either. after calling them multiple times somebody helped me out

  9. Worst customer service ever. I Have had issues since December and still get a different answer every time I call and every time i get told there going to do what the last person already told me they would do to help me yet it never gets done. Get your thumb out of you a$$ people!

  10. Claims should be paid out immediately and checked later by agents or instantly by the inept NHES servers. Shouldn’t make people wait weeks to months for their own tax money. People are starving and losing their homes.

  11. Attempted to call with a couple questions about my business. 10:40 on a Tuesday morning and I got pushed directly into voicemail. Then got a message that the mailbox was full and couldn’t accept any new messages!

  12. I have been out of work and filing since may..I still have not received a check..they still haven’t reviewed my case.on tip of it I haven’t been able to receive food stamps because they want an impossible amount of information from a year …

  13. Does not answer phones or email. Lost my login information and website kept saying my information was wrong, it wasnt. Told me email for prompt response, never got one. Called multiple times while the office was open, and no one answered. …

  14. Worst customer service I have ever received. That woman had ZERO idea what she was talking about! Properly train your employees! They need to be at least aquatinted with the law if you expect them to deal with something as important as proper payment to people in need. She should be ashamed

  15. Very helpful and friendly staff. The woman I talked to walked me through steps for a long time to get my claim figured out while maintaining good conversation, and also helped me acquire retro active payments from past weeks.

  16. Disgrace, if you have a prepaid phone don’t bother calling them, they won’t tell you estimate hold time or won’t have someone call you back, they won’t respond to email assistance. I’d never expect service like this from NH

  17. Outdated web page design…not an intuitive setup. Looks like something a 3rd grader designed. On top of this they are not even remotely capable of handling the current caseload. Not receiving payments at all and they tell you just relax …

  18. Have exceeded six hours in trying to reach a representative. One professional Member Services Member actually checked in from Berlin, NH to see if I had been able to connect with anyone.

  19. All right I’m not going to lie it has been hell getting someone on the phone but they do have the National Guard there Manning the phones during the covid-19 pandemic. Spoke to a young man named Colin who is stationed out of Portsmouth with …

  20. Keep up the good work everyone. Website is easy to navigate very informative and well written. Fast access to benefit information and job search. Private email. Mobil friendly turn your device internet to website instead of mobil. Try …

  21. I need to go to my sisters to fill out the form. I’ve been trying to finish it for almost two weeks. I would go to another website for info and I couldn’t get back in! I kept getting error 503. Today, I finally got through and it won’t let …

  22. Huge thank you to Lis and everyone else at NHES for being so helpful during this incredibly stressful (and I’m sure overwhelmingly busy) time. I have had all of my calls, emails, and random questions answered quickly, and Lis has been SO helpful!! Thank you for making this situation and process as easy as it can be.

  23. They don’t read any information you give them. Each time it’s a different person totally clueless to what you’re dealing with right now, even though all the information is there. I’ve waited over two months for rent support – WHILE ACTIVELY WORKING WITH REDUCED HOURS and they can’t do anything nor are they probably mentally capable.

  24. Called several times getting their automated system. Every avenue of the systems ends with the call being terminated and never being forwarded to someone. This was during business hours, and i was never sent to a mailbox or any for of overflow, just hung up.

  25. Sit on hold for 45 minutes, a person answers only to tell you they’re going to get you “connected” to a claims “specialist” which means they put you back on hold until they close or the line is disconnected. This has happened to me almost …

  26. It has been 9 weeks, and I still have yet to receive a single payment. As a student trying to pay for my summer course materials, I’m really struggling. I can’t imagine what the families in the same boat are going through. Why is our money being put on hold??

  27. A week later, I’m on hold for almost two hours. Still no response and still bad music and automated message that repeats every few seconds. Horrible experience. I was on hold for over an hour. Same silly automated message and bad music kept playing. No one ever answered. Finally hung up.

  28. These people are an absolute joke. They take forever to even coherently convey to people what’s going on with their claim. The entire department needs to be fired and dismantled. Their customer service is non existent too. Awful people to …

  29. During the Covid19 shutdown, I had to call NHES twice. The first time the wait time was very long; the second, I only waited 30 seconds. BOTH times, the customer service was polite, professional, accurate, supportative and a comfort during such a difficult time. Thank you for all your help.

  30. Worst experience ever, calling for an investigation by the news outlets. Still waiting for unemployment from months ago even though I’m approved. I call one person they tell me to call another and so and so on. The incompetence is at a new record.

  31. With COVID19, you’d think all NH Unemployment Offices would be open. Nope, just Concord. But being on hold for eternity (over 20mins and counting as I type this) is unacceptable. I haven’t received any of my Unemployment Pay for a month. …

  32. Like so many other people right now, I’ve had to file for unemployment. A few issues arose while filing on-line and I had to call the office. Yes the wait times are long, but these people are swamped. Every time I call I talk to someone who is extremely helpful and professionally answers my questions. Thank you!

  33. I recieved a notice that I was overpaid in unemployment benefits. I’ve called DOZENS of times because the dates and the amounts I “owe” don’t make sense ($168×3 with the same date, $1,800 with no date) each time I was told a supervisor …

  34. These people are no help at all!! Waited 40 minutes to talk to someone and when they asked what I needed help with I told them my situation. 2 seconds later they hung up… it’s been over 4 months since I have heard any information on my appeal. They don’t want to help you AT ALL. they want you to stay broke lol

  35. Although I have had issues with the system filing During Covid. The team has been incredible efficient and calm during all of this. This morning Kyle not only helped me file for the past week but I missed the week prior due to technical difficulties. He noticed that and helped me file. Incredible work !!!

  36. I am technologically impaired and so I have to call in all the time and everyone has been really helpful and patient. If I leave a message someone gets back to me within 24 hrs, usually sooner. I have zero complaints. At a time when they are insanely busy and must be overwhelmed they are always very pleasant.

  37. I have been fortunate enough to have a great experience filing during the Covid shut down. Super easy instructions to follow and always able to log on. The state’s quick response to all of our needs was miraculous. Very thankful for the help, during this crazy time.

  38. They take their sweet time when you need help, waiting on phones for hours during the start and throughout all of COVID-19. But boy, are they quick to get in touch with you to not only try to get it back, but be downright rude and disrespectful to you while doing it! What an absolute joke.

  39. Well I am obviously sharing this review on the unemployment office since the pandemic started. Clearly people are going to be upset and want to give bad reviews, i’m just so glad this isn’t a business that people could possibly ruin over …

  40. Absolutely pointless, I’ve filed every week for about 5 weeks now and haven’t heard anything back no approval nothing. From being the one that provided for an entire family to not receiving any help or someone even looking at claims is …

  41. what a joke. wife has been out of work for covid for 4 weeks. filed first day out. still no check. when we call we are told it’s ‘under review’. everyone she works with has gotten their check already. first time ever having to apply for unemployment assistance and this is what we get. nothing.

  42. Been waiting since beginning of March and has been under review since end of March if I could give no stars I would and got my questionnaires done same day it was give. Out and still have to wait til after deadline dates to hear back to …

  43. Was told that I owed everything back, freaked out, then months later was told that it was revoked and 3X that I was all set, nothing to worry about or check back on. Then got a call saying I had a hearing to prove that I don’t have to pay it back the day before 🙂 really they should be investigated for how poorly this place is run.

  44. If I could give a less then 1 I would. Went on line, created account. Had to go back on, try to submit a sign on rest, get a reply back saying I don’t have an account. So Try to log on as new, go through everything, get a reply that I …

  45. They don’t own to their mistakes, so any overpayments they make you pay back are on you despite the accuracy and truth to the questions you answer. I now owe $1800 back from the bonus $600 even when I stated in my weekly claims I wasn’t out …

  46. Just called in today customer service her only reply to all my questions was ” Go to nhes.nh.gov. . That was still going on even when I told her I had problems using laptop going on websites. So I told her I needed to make sure my address …

  47. I needed unemployment benefits for a few months several years ago. It was a much easier experience. I understand that these are very difficult times which is why I am giving it a 3 star, instead of a one or two. The website, however, …

  48. I have called multiple times and only gotten an answer once, I was paid for the first week and then my pay has been withheld for the past 4. Have been hung up on twice and told once that I would be paid soon, and was not. Ridiculous to make …

  49. Website is horrendously out of date and confusing. Additionally it is not mobile friendly and prompts that username and password are wrong when they are not and get you locked out of your account. This is fallowed by a prompt to contact …

  50. Put on an immediate payhold after being approved and provided one week of benefits . I followed all the prompts answered all the questions honestly And filed my continued claims on time . Was fired from my job with a doctors note excusing …

  51. Called unemployment for the second time. About 45 minutes later, the most miserable woman on the face of the planet answered the phone with a sigh and wanted no part of helping me. All I wanted to know was why my husband hasn’t been paid …

  52. Im giving one star. If they had less that a star, I would give it to them. I applied for NH unemployment on November I received a determination right away and have been filling my weekly claims faithfully. As of today I have received ZERO …

  53. I waited 9 weeks before I was denied unemployment. I worked at my previous (intentional career field) for over 6 years. I’m now 2 months behind on everything. I have 2 children. Thank you state of new hampshire/unemployment for generously …

  54. I got fired 5 days before Christmas, non covid related. I flied the following day, kept on filling like I should. Half a month and no pay, I call and the lady tells me its because I answered a question wrong then re answered it correctly so …

  55. I have had no issues with the system at all, apart from a very confusing web page and long waits for phone assistance. The people have always been helpful and my payments have come in a timely matter. Given the overwhelming of the system …

  56. Started the unemployment debacle on 31-March and have yet to see any money come my way. The same issue has happened multiple times where you call and get a ring tone for a second but then goes to the beep beep beeping and have yet to reach …

  57. NHES is the best example of a mismanaged, antiquated, incompetent government organization I’ve ever seen. They should be investigated and leadership needs to be held accountable. I heard the Taliban’s unemployment office of Kabul has a better website and more respectful employees.

  58. I am only giving two stars because SOME OF the MANY people I have spoken to have seemed nice.
I lost my job last March 2020 with Covid, applied and received my unemployment …

  59. Very disappointed. I had filed for 7 weeks, trying to get a hold of them by sending email and phone calls because I hadn’t gotten any money from them. By the 8th week I finally got through on a phone call! They said they received it and …

  60. I have to say a BIG thank you to the gentleman from the NH Unemployment office who spent a minimum of 10 minutes on the phone helping me file my claim correctly, and instructions on how to continue my claim weekly. This is the second time I …

  61. Completely useless. Had an attitude, scoffed, and were rude. Have not seen a check or notice since filing in November 2020, since it is pending I also will not be seeing my 1099 anytime soon. Locked out of my account for 2 months and called …

  62. They are dealing with a massive number of claims. Yes, it can take an hour or more to actually reach someone but considering that in other states, checks were delayed, sometimes for months, than by gosh, New Hampshire’s DES did a good …

  63. Place is an absolute joke ran by complete clowns. Have never had a more miserable customer service experience in my life and no one seems to have any idea what is going on. I pity anyone who has to deal with these glorified scammers. Better name would be NH department of Loan Sharking

  64. These guys have made a complete mess out of my granddaughters claim. They sent her a 1099 g for 2021 showing no FICA withheld. The incompetence in this agency is mind blowing. I am thinking this is where all the Burger King employees are working now.

  65. I wholeheartedly disagree with the review below that talks about how everyone should be patient. People have been patient. I applied for benefits in April 2020 due to COVID. I didn’t receive a payment until January 2021. I understand a …

  66. The worst customer service I have ever received. I have had an issue for over 6 weeks with no resolution in sight. Repeatedly requested a supervisor to call me but I never get a call back. No accountability at all. I realize they are …

  67. I have been waiting for over two months for my payments. They said they are still assessing it and cannot give me a time frame. That is UNACCEPTABLE. Thank goodness, I have money in a savings to live from and pay my bills. The State of NH needs a complete OVERHAUL. What a joke.

  68. So I filed unemployment 2 years ago and collected for about a year to get back on my feet with no issues. Today I get an email saying they overpaid me over 19,000 dollars but don’t worry 9,000 is waved. If I didn’t qualify for benefits why …

  69. I don’t know why we are required to pay unemployment when they never pay us when we file claims.
Nhes the biggest scam in the state.

  70. Been waiting a month for a determination on if I’m eligible or not. All the while I’m using up all my saving in order to get by. They don’t care !!..they get paid to do barely anything..give me their job bet there would be a major improvement in this service..

  71. This place is a big fat joke all around! Horrible at communication! Horrible at “decideding” who gets benefits! Especially when it is someone doesn’t deserve benefits! I’d give this place a ZERO, if I could! The worst part is that they don’t care! No cares here!

  72. By the time they are caught up on your situation they hang up or disconnect from you so no matter how long you wait on the phone nothing gets resolved.

  73. The failures of the NHES have compounded over the years, and yet they don’t see it. I pass no judgement on the people working there, as they’re trying their best, yet they are given shoddy tools, pointless regimen, and all-around disasters. …

  74. Dealing with this office has been a nightmare. Honestly I don’t blame the people working there, they’re just trying to work with the resources that they have. I blame our representatives for not funding a more robust system. The online …
