The NJ DMV locations are all a mess right now because of COVID-19, some are closed, stopping providing full services, or close abruptly because of COVID concerns. The Cherry DMV has the same problems as the other DMVs in NJ, but at least they communicate well and are organized.

I got to the office at 5:18 and they wouldn’t let me in to handle my business. They close at 5:30 this means they still have to service the costumer.

Everytime I come to this location it’s a horror show. Today I have been here already for an hour and still waiting, the computer system is apparently down. This is inexcusable for a government agency. Shame on this place for operating this way.

Employees are really rude and discriminatory. I ask a employee a question in clear English and she asked me if I speak Spanish and called a co-worker to translate when I communicate and understand English perfectly.

Its the DMV and it is what it is. I’ve never had trouble here and as long as you’re smart about it – going early or otherwise expecting to wait, it is a lot better then a few other DMVs I’ve been to.

I went for License renewal for my wife. She is on dependent visa and has not got the final Visa extension letter but has Visa extension receipt. Just has my license renewed in less than 20 minutes, a stellar time even at 3:30 on a weekday. People here sound very tired and overworked, but they do a good job and seem nice. Please be kind to them, and give them a chance to be kind in return.
Don’t trust the supervisors to be competent nor looking out for you. Be specific and ask for exactly ALL the things that are needed. Its like they love to turn you away for 1 reason and then another and then another. Time wasters is a listed skill on their resume.

Appointments are the way to go. Make reservation and print all your forms from NJ MVC website, complete before you get there and bring ALL required docs, and you should be good too.

Waited 4 hours in line that wrapped around the building. They let about 10 people in at a time. Once you finally get inside they work efficient and quick.
I suggest you go earlier then 8am when they open. After 200 customers they turned many people away early too. I was number 171 of 200.

The NJ DMV locations are all a mess right now because of COVID-19, some are closed, stopping providing full services, or close abruptly because of COVID concerns. The Cherry DMV has the same problems as the other DMVs in NJ, but at least they communicate well and are organized.
