Nyona/ Mud Lake Conservancy District (IN) Reviews ( 110 )

  1. Great Malaysian restaurant. Only minus is the cash only policy. Definitely recommend the kangkung veggies, hainanese chicken, curry pot beef tripe, roti canai, chicken wings, coconut drink (in a full coconut, which they open for you when you have finished the juice, if you want to eat the coconut meat), burbur chacha for dessert.

  2. Always make my way here whenever I’m on the neighborhood. Love their Malaysian Roti and beef rendang, but they have so manu good options as well! Lunch combos are avail Mon they Friday, and they have a really huge menu! I’d definitely …

  3. They have a lot of choices from the menu including noodles and rice. I tried the prawn noodles which was great. The soup is delicious and portion is reasonable. Price is also reasonable. Expect to wait a bit to get a table because there are a lot of people. Would definitely want to come again.

  4. Upon visiting NYC, I know its quite the epicenter for amazing food and I was on a quest to find good Malaysian. Upon finding what places are feasible or not, I automatically ruled out all places with “fusion” in the description, but i ended …

  5. Great Malaysian food. Authentic and delicious and great value. Had guests over and picked this restaurant and it was even better then I remembered. Everyone had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. Let the pics speak for themselves.

  6. This restaurant puts the one on 86th Brooklyn to shame. Service is is far superior, but most importantly the food is unmatched. I ordered the curry beef over rice. Tender, and flavorful. Good portion size.

  7. Great Malaysian food! Was in Singapore for four years and would like to say this place was authentic!
Personally not a fun of the shrimp paste, so things without would suite me. …

  8. Very affordable and very authentic malaysian food! Everything was on point. Service is very nice and fast.
It does get busy but usually they turn around tables very quickly and the wait …

  9. Located downtown Manhattan this place will be a parking nightmare if you are driving this way, specially during the day times. So do yourself a favor and catch a shared ride, do not spoil your day and meal on a insatiable quest for parking, …

  10. This was rated as the best Malaysia place in NYC…but they didn’t have curry mee! The food was B+ but it didn’t have the taste of being the best. More

  11. Came here for a snack and had a good experience. The food was really good, well seasoned. Usually there is a wait if you go past 7pm or if you have a huge group. Staffs are friendly and nice, atmosphere feels comfortable. Overall great food and a decent price.

  12. Ultimate food, great ambiance and more importantly very good staff. We had 29 minutes wait but the staff was courteous and prompt. The server kept checking on us too and food was very tasteful. I will highly recommend their coconut pudding made from real non synthetic coconut water.

  13. Been coming here with my mom since I was a little girl, and I love this place. Came here with my friends last night. We ordered the roti canai, Hainanese chicken, curry noodle soup, and vegetables with shrimp paste. The vegetables were a …

  14. Authentic and great food at very reasonable prices! We ordered a lot of food for 6 pax. Beef rendang was good. Bubur cha cha needs lots of improvement, the rice for chicken rice failed terribly. Huge place and it was super crowded but they …

  15. This place was such a delusion for us. Firstly, cash only, no cards accepted (excuse me, are we in the Medieval Ages?), although the place is really big and crowded, so this is ridiculous. We were seated to a very small table next to the …

  16. Food was meh. We only went here because hot pot across the street was a 3 hour wait and this place seated us immediately for 10 people. Although places that can seat a big party right away without reservations, I’m usually wary about. Not …

  17. I am typically not a fan of noisy crowded restaurants but having had a couple friends compliment the foods here, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately it was a disappointment for me. Perhaps I had my hopes up or maybe it was a Saturday, …

  18. Walk passed this place when I was in the area. Amazing Malaysia food they served, very authentic
Cash only, but priced very well… …

  19. Came in on Father’s Day at around 1 pm for lunch and it was pretty busy. The restaurant is pretty big and there were a few parties waiting. Luckily, we we didn’t have to wait for a party of five. …

  20. One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. They have a plenty of options to choose from and are always delicious! We specifically love their hainan chicken and curry. It’s very authentic and the service is good. The coconut rice is also amazing to pair with the dishes. Highly recommend!

  21. Quality of some food have degraded and not as tasteful. Sarang burung was lacking in taste, roti canai was good, panfried noodles was ok, hainanese chicken rice – chicken texture was good but the chilli sauce was awful, more like the sweet …

  22. My friends who were meat lovers said the food was amazing. My experience as a vegetarian was not good at all… The presentation was okay but The food was not good at all.. drenched in oily, and had no flavor More

  23. Unfortunately, wasn’t the “great” restaurant I remembered. We booked table for 13. They tried to seat us at the circle table near the bathroom. Bathroom smell was strong. Table/area was definitely not big enough. Restaurant was still …

  24. One of the classics in Chinatown. Every tourist should go here if you haven’t tried Malaysian/Singaporean food. Their service is always quick and food quality has always been excellent when I go. …

  25. This Malaysian dinner spot never ceases to disappoint. The tremendous menu showcases an array of multitudinous dishes you can choose from. Notwithstanding, the service is mediocre and they only accept cash. More

  26. I tasted the shrimp mee noodle soup, literally one bite, and I didn’t like it. It was under seasoned and the shrimp was not cleaned properly and there was a rly strong shrimp fishy odor. I asked to replace it or have it comped and they …

  27. One of my all time favorite Malaysian places!! The food is excellent and it never disappoints. You must try the roti canai it’s the perfect appetizer and you can’t go wrong with it! But this place is cash only so keep that in mind! Highly recommend!

  28. I was craving Malaysian food as I haven’t had good Malaysian food in years! This place was great and the food is good. I ordered roti canai and it was good. The curry that comes with it has a kick to it. Wish there was more roti! It’s flaky …

  29. Disappointing Hainanese chicken dinner dish. Chicken is tasteless and rubbery. It came with little sauce to make it more edible. The fried greens and the noodle soup was good. Not having to line up to get there at any time is a sign the quality is not the same. More

  30. Their rendang was awarded some recognition, but it was just average when I tried it. As a Malaysian, I thought the food here was overpriced and slightly inauthentic (we don’t do roti canai like how they do it). It’s decent for when you miss food from home, or if you’ve never had better Malaysian food options. More

  31. This is a gem. The food is fantastic. Reminded us to what we tasted in Singapore last year. The price is great for the quality. Service is very good compared to other Asian restaurants. The one small ding is the Roti Canai came out in the …

  32. This place uses to be great, good food at reasonable price. But now, they’re okay at best. Expensive for the amount of food you get and most of the food was severed room temperature at best. Additionally, they only accept CASH. Saying goodbye to this place. More

  33. This is one of my favorite Malaysian restaurant in the area. Everything we ordered were delicious. I would recommend their hainanese chicken and kangkung belacan. Their sizzling egg tofu dish is also delicious. We tried their dessert too, which to our surprise are very authentic as well. Highly recommend!!

  34. Some of the foods from Menu is good. The pineapple fried rice I had wasn’t good. The flat noodles had no salt in it. Overall it’s an okay place but I don’t think it’s worth Michelin STAR.

  35. This place is not a Malaysian place its fake and very bad Malaysian place with very sweet food, according to the manager they make everything sweet because AMERICANS only eat sugar sweet food. Very poor service and wait staff Non …

  36. We do this at least once a year and has almost become tradition. We ride the bridges (BMW) with stops for bubble tea(Cocoa on 79) and waffles (15 Ave B) . We end our day with dinner at Nyona. The staff is friendly, service, prompt and …

  37. We have been going to Nyonya for many years. Like many places that have survived the pandemic there have been some slight changes but overall the consistency is mostly there, and it’s still the most solid Malaysian restaurant in NYC. The …

  53. Most similar is the curry yong tau fu dish. The worse is the Hokkien Char Mee and Nyonya rojak. The Mee is missing the most important ingredient and the shrimp paste for the rojak is so diluted. To be honest, there is not a true Nyonya …

  54. 4/5 only because I came here with vegetarian friends and there weren’t as many dishes we could try. Will definitely come again and try the authentic Malaysian non-veg dishes next time! More

  55. Great restruant with good flavors. The roti canai is so simple but so good. The fried noodles dishes also are full of flavor. They have a decent alcohol selection too More

  56. The food is nostalgic for me since my grandma is Malaysian Chinese. Everything I tried tasted wonderful. Will have to come back for sure. More

  57. Very mixed feelings about the place. I had it saved on my to go list for a long time and I was pleasant that it was packed. I think i had to do a better research on what to order, since all the food was beyond oily. Overall I liked the …

  58. This is my first taste of Malaysian cuisine and I an impressed. The roti canai was crispy but I wish the curry dip was a little thicker so the roti can scoop it. The star of the meal was the Nyonya Kari Ayam which is a chicken dish simmered …

  59. Solid authentic Malaysian food! Roti Canai appetizer didn’t disappoint.
House special pork belly with Tati hit the spot. Penang Assam Laksa was sizzling hot but manageable. Flavors just evaporate in your mouth. More

  60. Good spot for Malaysian in Manhattan. Went for lunch and had the Assam laksa and a side of roti with curry dipping sauce. The laksa was the perfect combo of spice, umami, and sour – it hit the spot. The place is cash only – a point they emphasize as you enter. More

  65. Thursday night dinner, and the place was relatively empty. Not a bad thing because the food was absolutely amazing! We ordered 3 dishes which was too much for two men! Malaysian ribs, salty fish fried rice and beef randang with 2 sides of …

  66. Food here in general is pretty decent in my opinion. We ordered a bunch of food so the variety was good.
My favorite was the beef rendang – tender meat with tons of delicious curry …

  67. Roti canai was excellent and very fluffy! The salted fish fried rice was pretty good too although I wish the salted fish flavor was more infused in the rice. Overall pretty good. One thing to note is this place is cash only and charges tax. I thought that was odd for a cash only place

  68. I’m not Malaysian but while I lived there I feel in love with the food. Unfortunately it’s been hard finding a place in the states that has good Malaysian food. For me, Nyonya brought us back to the flavours we grew to love. The food had a …

  69. If you have not tried Malaysian dishes before or simply want to have a hot bowl of laksa just to remind you of home, then this is the place to go. I am not going to comment about the use of spices, services and all because I go there just …

  70. This was recommended by a friend a long time ago. Not sure about how much they changed but the taste was just so-so. The restaurant is really dark and the server told me that’s the brightest lightness they could provide. The vegetables are great and have exact same taste as ones I had in Malaysia. Recommend vegetable 1 and 2. More

  73. Restaurant with huge menu serving Malaysian/Singaporean fare. The dishes I tried were all authentic and portion sizes were generous. Prawn mee was especially good. Be aware that they don’t accept reservations and all members of your party have to be present before you are seated.

  74. delicious and large portions — my friend and i ordered too much, and i had leftovers for a couple of days. be aware that it’s cash-only. felt a little greasy after the meal, although maybe that’s due to our food choices…would love to come back and try their other dishes some time. More

  76. Amazing lunch option! The lunch menu is awesome. Pretty huge portion and it’s delicious. This is on the border of little Italy and Chinatown. The service is friendly and fast. This place only takes cash but there’s a Chase band around the corner. I definitely suggest this place for a meal! Check them out!
