  1. (Translated by Google) I am outraged with your customer service, for them to answer my call I have to be on the phone waiting about 2 hours and the worst thing is that you don’t even give me a solution, these 2 months I received bills with …

  2. I have contacted this company probably about 30 times now about a $300 bill that is completely incorrect. They are charging us sewage for water that we haven’t used! Current meter is at 1904 and they have us at 1980 something! The bill …

  3. I called at 8:10 AM – they say they are open at 8 AM weekdays. So the message I get when I call is I have reached them after hours – what a clown show this place is!!!

  4. Just so bad. The absolute worst utility to deal with. Gas? Easy. Electric? Easy. Internet? Easy. Why can’t these morons figure it out?

  5. Customer service are not helpful nor show much desire in helping. Act very robotically and show resistance when you ask anything that goes beyond their memorized script.

  6. They charge more and more each month to poison my family and I with their poor-quality, lead-filled water. Nonexistent customer service. Too bad they don’t have any competitors.

  7. I bought a property on Mt Washington over a month ago and I still don’t have water . I keep being told that they don’t know where the turn on is at and have to send out a crew to locate it. I still haven’t heard if they found it. I call and I am told they are on it and will call me back. That never happens.

  8. I been living in the Mt.Oliver for almost 10 year now and they still won’t tell me why my sewer Company is Pwsa and my water company is Pennsylvania American water.. so I keep receiving two bills instead of one? It’s all a scam!!!!

  9. Didnt know I had a turn off notice after Christmas water was shut off I called my water who enter told me to call pwsa rep lied said there was a water problem in the area… The customer service rep told me I can make a payment the …

  10. its a shame that i have to CERTIFY a letter as I cant rely on PWSA receiving a letter except when there is a payment enclosed– they always receive payments but have LOST?? 2 important non-payment letters in the past

  11. The customer service at PGH2o are fantastic.
    I have dealt with Tireed (hope I’m spelling his name right) Rebecca, & Marie;
they are the very best in customer service.

  12. I wish I had another choice! They are the most incompetent. Business! Actually, so is the Mayor. He hired a company, to redo your sidewalk after they did work for us. The cement job is terrible!!!

  13. Rumor has it duquesne light wants to go into providing water as well. I’ll take it! Maybe some competition to pghwater will atleast get the some form of urgency in their work. Also, they freaking subcontract!! No wonder my damn water bill …

  14. Yes, it is an absolutely terrible website and today I have to go to office because of this–a lot of time out of my day. Example of bureaucracy at its most dysfunctional. …

  15. Not sure what they actually do, being that the water comes out the faucet filled with ammonia, nitrates, and lead. Is this water supposed to be drinkable? Bill keeps going up, while the quality of the water gets worse.

  16. Rate hikes, unreported lead levels above the safety threshold, improperly adjusted bills, and now the DEP is testing for giardia. I’m an (unwilling) customer but never received a phone call telling me about the boil notice. Awful customer service. I wish there were alternatives in my city.

  17. Just built a house in the city of pgh and moved in 10/23/2019. It is now 2/26/2020 and narry a peep from PWSA. NO BILL NO CONTACT, NOTHING. I will be contacting them tomorrow. From the reviews I have read I am not looking forward to dealing with them. I will update my post when I have spoke with PWSA, WISH ME LUCK.

  18. The new billing system did not transfer my account with my email but only keep charging my bank without allowing me to login. I can either sign up for a new one. Awful system!!!

  19. Horrible comany. Every customer service person I talked to was nice. But the problem is the charges. Almost a year with no bill and now it’s thousands of dollars. Something is wrong with this picture. …

  20. Ripped off for $2,000 on vacant properties. $1500 on one and $500 on another. Called it “actual meter reads” though there is no meter on site. Terrible organization. All messed up. Many phone calls, curb shutoff requests, and site visits and they can’t fix their billing. What a mess.

  21. they’re pulling a hell of a scam, my water bills are 2-3x higher than they’ve ever been before with no real explanation. I obviously can’t switch water providers, so I’m stuck at the mercy of these grifters.

  22. Rude customer service. Customers pay for all their mistakes, because this place is so unorganized. They should do a mass firing and hire people that know how to do their job. This place should really be investigated for ripping clients off. Not sure how my sewer bill is more than my water bill. When both are monthly.

  23. Shady. Terribly managed. They need some kind of audit or oversight. My bills increase by $10 or so every month to the point that I am now over $100. Is there anything I can do? Anyone who cares? No. Pay your outrageous bill or we shut you off. Maybe it’s time for some other option.

  24. Customer service is TERRIBLE! They charged my account for my bill twice and when I asked to have the money refunded they said I have to fill out forms and wait 6-8 weeks for the money to come in a check…what?!. They are always difficult to deal with.

  25. A huge thank you to Jason Auge, PWSA Supervisor. At a time when we really needed someone who cared, Jason stepped up and made a hairy situation with collapsed sewage lines a little more acceptable than we had imagined. Thank you again, Jason for your professionalism and public concern!!

  26. Customer service at initial call was fantastic, heard the issue and directed that “dispatch” would give us a follow-up call. Dispatch never called, issue is not resolved.

  27. When my basement filled up with water and the plumber told me to call PWSA, the man who answered first hung up on me and then demanded to speak to the plumber instead of me. The plumber practically pulled teeth to get him to agree to send a …

  28. PWSA, you have been a major source of frustration over the last couple of years. First I didnt recieve a bill for months, probably over a year easily. So I had to pay what I thought was a good amount. THEN you bill me some ridiculous …

  29. If only there were negative stars. You truthfully get a rating of null as in cannot apply to you. A so called business that rewards it’s customers by overcharging them by hundreds to thousands of dollars. They made and installed knowingly …

  30. If I could rate less than 1 star I would. We went 8 months without a bill. When we finally get the bill it is for the total of what should have been billed for the prior 8 months. They were nice enough though to set us up on a payment plan …

  31. My usage and water consumption remain steady (supply from Pen American water) but my sewage bills climbs EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. Absolutely ridiculous… and they know that the customers don’t have a choice.

  32. Customer service will read directly off a script if you call them. And they will consistently have water cut outs that they will NOT inform the customer about ahead of time. Sometimes these cutouts last more than 12 hours.

  33. PWSA doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Like all the other corrupt, scum bag City of Pittsburgh run offices this department doesn’t fail to disappoint. The water meter at my home was “upgraded” in the Spring of 2017, after having been fine with …

  34. PWSA is irresponsible and unethical. They should have their contract with the city revoked. We’ve had multiple main breaks within the city in the last twelve months, for which the PWSA has hiked up prices for residents whose water bills …

  35. Charged me twice for a water bill for almost $300. Apparently when I updated my card information the system didn’t pay my bill, I got a notification that my water was going to be shut off, I paid the bill, then they auto drafted me anyways. …

  36. On August 1, 2019, I experienced a level of customer service that is hard to find these days. I would like to publicly thank Ms. Deborah Kenney who went beyond the script and was able to follow-up and follow-through with our request that …

  37. I give a negative 10 stars, PWSA sucks. They just shut off all our water the whole street to work a job 2 blocks away & never notified us of the upcoming outage.

  38. I am in the A/P department for a property management company; for the past 4 years I have had nothing but billing problems with PWSA. One month there’s a credit on my bill because PWSA realized a mistake on their part, but the very next …

  39. If I could give this place zero stars i would. Their billing system is terrible. Set up for automatic payments and paperless billing. nov a payment was rejected, then it pulled 2 days later and showed received. But since they have the worst …

  40. This company is the worst. They have no idea what they’re doing, exhibit blatant disregard for their customers, and hire shoddy contractors to complete their work. Customer service will do anything to shift blame from their own lackluster …

  41. A year ago there was work done on
My street and my front yard wall was taken down and a big hole dug.
It is now a year later and the hole is still there. Everytime I call, get he …

  42. Zero stars for this beyond horrible company. As another review posted, I’ve also been hung up on (twice) by an employee when I asked to speak with a manager. They regularly send shut off notices that have clearly been sitting around for a …

  43. Worst company ever. Unbelievably expensive because they know they can charge without repercussions. Your bill is a surprise every month, always higher than the actual Pennsylvania American water bill (also terrible). It’s simply corrupt. …

  44. We have a rental property for over 20 years that is serviced by PWSA. I kept the billing in my name and set up automatic payments when they became available. Never had an issue until last year. Our tenant died in 3/2012 and the property has …

  45. After not getting a shut-off related issue resolved after multiple attempts over the phone, I went down to the customer service counter at the main PWSA office and was very pleased with the quick and courteous service. 5 minutes in person did what an hour or two of frustration on the phone could not. Nothing beats face to face!

  46. PWSA makes me wish water was privatized. With no consumer choice they don’t feel obligated to provide good or even honest service. Truly the worst organization I’ve ever used and there’s no way for me to do anything about that. We’re all stuck with them.

  47. Water smells and taste fishy. PWSA wants their customers to believe that chemicals they add to the Allegheny River creates the fishy water, we pay ridiculous monthly rates for, and can’t drink.

  48. To bad we don’t have another selection of water source because they are the only water company they don’t give you much options i got approved for a grant in may its August and they still havent applied it to my account not to mention the …

  49. This company is an absolute joke. I have owned my home in Pittsburgh for over five years. Two and a half years ago i stopped receiving a bill. I continued making payments for a short while but they weren’t being deposited so I stopped. …

  50. I know there are negative reviews left for PWSA. However, there are people in the agency that have been really helpful to us. We moved to the City early this year and had issues with the water meter. We also requested a meter downsizing …

  51. I have carried a credit balance for months. I get the “catch up” bill and its $600+. I continue to pay current amount plus extra which differed depending on how much I could afford. Too bad. Not good enough. We are shutting your water off. …

  52. So let me start out by saying this was completely my fault. We moved into our new house and with everything going I completely forgot to set the water bill in my name. It got shutoff Friday and my wife thought it was a maintenance shut off …

  53. 24-hour emergency service is a lie. We haven’t had water for 3 days and have called several times, yet they haven’t sent anyone and have no record of any issues. The rep I talked to was, I’m pretty sure, the only person answering calls and …

  54. Zero stars if I could. This is the worst company I have ever worked with. One of our properties had a meter issue, registering 59 gallons for every gallon of water. We submitted the proof, provided by our plumber which they claim to …

  55. Multiple times, I’ve tried to investigate why a water bill for 2 people who work 9-5 jobs is constantly fluctuating (and now staying at $100+ a month). Never got a helpful response and the emails I got back were a bit condescending.

  56. Would give 0 stars if I could. Completely clueless staff, mismanaged, and incompetent. Also the way that they attempt to repave streets is pathetic and always leads to another sink hole that they have to then come fix again. Just do it right the first time!

  57. Horrible. They have the slogan “quality water, quality service.” They need to change that to lead-filled water, horrendous service. I’ve been stuck with their incompetence since I moved here twelve years ago. Their billing system is a …

  58. After several attempts to resolve a collapsed sewer line found during a routine camera test, I called Pittsburgh Water & Sewage, spoke to “dispatch” on three separate occasions….only a supervisor can help (I’m told by dispatch). After a …

  59. I’ve been a PGH2O customer for over 15 years. 2020 arrived and turned my world upside down. I was in the restaurant business and lost my job in March. I ended up having to move back to my hometown closer to my family in November. I notified …

  60. My bill is normally $50 a month and this month it’s $800+. I called them and the customer service rep was so rude to me that I was shocked. I had to call back and speak to someone else who was less rude but no more helpful. There is clearly …

  61. Mismanaged group with no focus or plan to make things better. Management is a recycled group of individuals that held jobs in previous political administrations or government entities and the City of Pittsburgh doesn’t want to fire them. So they move them to other roles regardless on how bad they messed things up in their past roles.

  62. Veronica helped me today and she was very calm and patient. She helped me figure things out for my dye test requirement to sell my home. The website is also becoming more and more user friendly, with the due test process soon to be streamlined on the website later this Fall.

  63. I had a problem getting into my account and I was also switched to paperless billing, which I hate. So since I didn’t receive a bill, I keep forgetting about it. Now the bill is overdue because I kept forgetting about it. I tried to switch …

  64. I probably can’t say it is the worst water provider on the planet but am comfortable saying it is at least the worst one in the western hemisphere. The water is so expensive that showering and laundry for a family of 3 conservative water …

  65. Who doesn’t love a monopolistic utility company? Can’t get anyone else, they know this, so they don’t care how they treat you, or if you need water, they’ll shut you off on trumped up charges like “can’t get to your meter” with out even asking to get to it. What a fantastic place.

  66. 3rd day in a row now that our water has been shut off with no warning or indication of when it will be turned back on (it has come back around 8-9pm the previous two nights). This utility is terrible and takes advantage of the fact that …

  67. Back in October 2020 when our water was shut off for a month due to a sewage issue with our neighbors down the street they did not tell us that they were going to shut it off and for how long. They also initially refused to deliver us …

  68. On a Thursday before a holiday they gave me mom a notice that they would shut off her water if she didn’t schedule an appointment with them to view her water meter by Monday. So of course they were closed Friday-Sunday and she couldn’t get …

  69. I know people hate PWSA, but I’ve had to deal with them over the past 2 years remodeling both a house & a restaurant. They’ve been friendly & helpful throughout, and sorted issues for me to make my work easier. I can see that’s not the experience for many, but it was mine.

  70. Of all the major utilities in Pittsburgh. PWSA id the worst. Hans down. I have a vacant house for sale. No water usage. I even have the valve to the toilet shut off. I’m a Registered Master Plumber. There is nothing leaking in my home. Yet, …

  71. they wont even email a billHave not recieve sewage bills in months! They wont email a bill,I dont what an on line account I want a paper bill,Cant pay a bill you dont recieve???

  72. Disgusting company. Has shut down water multiple times without warning or proper schedule. The worst kind of scum, dedicated to having Pittsburgh residents feel like they live in an impoverished, third-world country.

  73. PWSA and Folino Construction have been digging up my street and “replacing” water lines for two solid years now. My street is getting ready to be destroyed again this will be the 4th time digging up the street! This entire project is a total disaster!

  74. Water bills are too high and quality is very low. Since the changes that have been made over the last 8 years Pittsburgh water tastes gasolinish. Consumers have been betrayed by ever increasing bills and it’s not fair!

  75. If I could give them 0 stars I would. PWSA had very rude customer service representatives whenever I called and they no showed to three scheduled appointments to check out our water meter. They had sent us a 30 day water termination notice …

  76. The WORST in every way possible. Outrageously high rates, frequent service shutoffs with no notice given, rude and indifferent customer service… It’s sickening to consistently pay over $200 a month for water/sewer service in a small 1-bath …

  77. Worker parking on sidewalk in front of my house in a no parking fire lane zone. Also, same worker posting no parking signs dated in the past. I’m concerned this may cause unwarranted ticketing and towing since cars are already parked and the variance signs were filled out improperly.

  78. I sent my payment and they didn’t account for it. When I called they said “there was no account# tied to the payment.” So they took my money, didn’t apply it to anything, and tried to charge me double the next month. I got it sorted out, …

  79. I wish 0 stars was a possibility. What a disaster. We can’t get the bill transferred over to my name so we can’t pay the bill. Was told my application was not submitted, but later realized I sent 3 applications after reviewing emails. Jesus can’t even save this place. Good Grief.

  80. Your phone lines are down. Cannot speak with anyone at the company for 2 straight days. I literally cannot pay my bill. Your customer support is non existent. Wonder why you have a 1 star Google rating. You provide the most important life sustaining service, WATER. Be better.
