Their customer service is terrible. They used to be pretty good. It seems like there’s been a change in staff, resulting in a dramatic downward decline. The managemenr staff are now petty and unprofessional.
They’d get a -1 if possible. Unkind. Not willing to work with their customers. Terrible phone support. Worse than Timer Warner and Time Warner is the devil. Truly horrible. If there was a choice… but nope… they are monopoly.
Guy shows up and starts yelling at me cause he can’t shut the water off. I ask him to speak respectfully and he leaves without shutting off the water. I call customer service and she hangs up on me. Must be nice to work on the public dole eh?
Water rates are high and beyond that they charge service fee if you opt auto-payment using credit card. Never seen that with other utility service providers….
Portland Water district has terrible customer service and I find them to have bad leadership at the wastewater level. They continue to have terrible sewage spills in the ocean of Casco Bay.
I’ve talked to customer service dozens of times over the years to connect or disconnect water to various properties that the company I work for owns. I have always found CS to be friendly and helpful.
Our water has a bitter taste at times ( no idea why) and a strong chlorine taste at other times. I prefer the times when it just tastes like plain old water.
Because of $154 they shut off my residential water yesterday at 2 pm. We paid their balance and waited for the water to comment back on that day and it never did. …
Just got off the phone – very helpful as they transition to a new online system and I needed help logging on. I also needed the total spent YTD – no problem… they had all necessary information without a long wait.
Horrible utility company. I used to think “it’s just the executives that make it a miserable company to deal with, not the customer-facing employees, leave them out of this.” …
It’s safe to say that customer service expectations have diminished over the past 2 years. In general, anytime I have ever submitted an online request in a generic, pre-fillable format, I do not receive a response for 24 to 48 hours. When …
I bought a home and called PWD to set up my water utilities in the new location. On the same call I said, “I’ll only be in this rental for a couple more weeks [but I need the water turned on at the new location right away]” I kept getting …
I get charged 4810 dollars for five months only. And I spoke with the customer service and I told they were a leak. She said that I still need to pay the full amount. And there’s only 8 people living in the apartment. That’s crazy
Cool
Great people.
Water purer than poland springs water bottles
Hard to get through their voice menu…
Always get cheerful help whenever I need to call. Thank you!
Very friendly staff. Enjoys informing the public about water treatment.
Considering they are a utility company, they provide great customer service.
terrible service and bad for the environment. They continue to spill sewage in to Casco Bay.
Have paid them thousands over the years but they can’t respond to a single simple inquiry.
Customer service and your website are absolutely useless. My request is so simple.
I am in contact with Portland Water district regularly for my own home and business and I always find them to be very friendly and helpful.

This company ruins the natural ecosystem of Sebago Lake and lowers the water level substantially. Hopefully it is shut down sooner rather than later.
