Under staffed causing long wait times today.
Whole hospital is awesome, Dr. Tang is by far my favorite.

Have always received excellent care at AMLK
Great as always. They are staying on top of covid protocols
I love my doctor. I wouldn’t change her for the world.
I haven’t gotten along with my PCP at all so I’m getting another one
I have received nothing but good care from the American Lake VA.
Lots of overhaul at the moment. Everyone who works here is so helpful and caring.
Wasn’t able to see anyone on my 550. Plus suger level
Really nice and friendly people. Thanks American Lake VA!!
Excellent lab technicians! They were thorough and expeditious!
I had to go to the pharmacy, its open till 630pm during the week.
Half of the services are closed such as Dental and the eye clinic. Etc
Outstanding is normal great job great people friendly service thank you
Great experience. Really great employees, very helpful, professional.
Good organized fast vaccine shot. Great job!
It’s where my primary health card provider is located and they have always treated me well.
I just did lab work quick trip
My positive experiences here far outweigh the frustrating ones.
Busy, but courteous folks made it a fairly pleasant experience..
I am very happy with the care I receive from the VA.
Very nice campus by the water relaxing peaceful Hello good over all atmosphere
Hey just got home from getting my second shot and no problems 😀 …

Very efficient and professional, also very informative and kind.
Good job thank you.
That you can trust them with your care and medical
Very friendly. Easy enrollment
Excellent!! On time. Very efficient. Great care there.
It’s the same American Lake VA as it has always been. Aside from the pharmacy, I do all I can to avoid.
They are getting much more efficient at getting people in and out of there in a timely matter.
It is a very great place for military vetrans.
I can’t speak for anyone else but my experience here has always been great
I am blown away by the support. This place “gets after it” when pursuing resolutions for your medical needs/resources.
Fast and courteous. The team I saw was excellent.
No difficulties with parking. All COVID-19 precautions are in place.
Lab is slow but nice staff
Sometimes a little crowded, but the staff are always nice and helpful
Very professional dedicated employees at the VA center at American lake in Lakewood washington.
Even in these times this one medical place I feel safe. Great place and the view is awsome.
Friendly as always. Took Pharmacy over 20min to get meds to me though.
Always good service, but sometimes you may have to wait. This is my primary means of my health care.
Excellent care. Have me all the help I requested. Answered all my questions.
Has many bathrooms. Canteen building #2 has canteen for food and Starbucks.
I love the friendly staff at the American Lake campus. This is my favorite place to go to get treated for whatever ails me.
A good visit overall everything was explained to me to make sense of what they were doing to me
My experience was very good. I was a few minutes early and was taken in within 3 minutes
Healthcare is great, if you don’t mind the wait.👍 …
You can go here get your va id card same day no issues
Very professionally staffed
Very professional staff who are always friendly, helpful and full of information to guide you around the facilities.
Was able to get in and out without waiting. The Lab staff was great in getting me in and out without delays.
They are so organized. Good place for a veteran to go for your medical needs.
Smooth process. Seems as though service has gotten way better
It’s really nice to have this facility nearby. They provide basic care to thousands of veterans.
It was early my doctor wasn’t in but I got my blood drawn urine sample everything was all right I suppose
Went in to get my blood work draw. Even with the covid maze in the parking lot it was easy to navigate and get where I needed to.
Great care, great people. They will do whatever is necessary to take care of a veteran.
Got everything I needed taken care of completed. Others were available by phone. Good trip.
Like the Dr. Maxwell Ollivant and also the great Staff
The staff is professional and friendly. They are very organized in giving the Covid-19 Vaccination.
Stopped by the VA to check my blood, was in and out in no time.
I was given Imformatiin ASAP , Front Desk Person was very imformative and i was given Appropriate Papers to fill out , My experience was Top Notch .
Always quick and professional service, even when crowded. If you can go earlier yoy’ll avoid some parking hassles.
I know the VA gets a bad rap, but I receive great service from my providers. Thank you.
Had an appointment and it was very good.
Went in for labs was in and out in 30 min and thats with getting lost a few times and setting a appointment afterwards. Really friendly helpful staff
I always have a good visit to this VA. Staff is friendly.
Could use some upgrades
There handing the best they can for us the veterans during the covid 19 pandemic. But my concerns are what happens during an emergency.
Very happy to have these benefits. Appointment waits are a bit long, but overall I am happy.
You’ll be lucky to even see a doctor there after waiting for months. Hope you get one that s speaks English. No help !
Had bad kidney stones. Main office did not help and got sent to American Lake. They would not help. Finally had to drive south to Olympia to an ER for help. Messed up.
My husband is a patient at VA Hospital and always been having a very good service. We are very happy to be part of it.d
Fast service. Had an appointment that was followed up with a blood test. there was minimal wait. Go early for covid-19 pre screen after first going on base
Covered in comunist..wouldn’t let me in without a mask..have cop can’t wear a mask but guess they have more authority than ada..who says they can’t make u wear one if you can’t because of medical conditions..
Dentists are great. PTSD CLINIC IS AWESOME ESPECIALLY MY COUNSELOR. I WAS CONCERNED WHEN I FIRST WENT TO HER. SHE IS YOUNG BUT REALLY HAS HELPED ME WITH MY PTSD. I WILL ALWAYS BE GRATEFUL.
I enjoyed my visit. The people are nice and helpful. They are very professional.
What on time, but they was not on time seeing me. The technician was very informative and helpful. Overall it was a good experience
People are really helpful with directions here. The construction is still ongoing so ensure an early enough arrival time to make your appointment.
Had a visit with the Red Team. Nurse and doctor were friendly, professional and and provided a comfortable atmosphere.
Every single time I have been here the people are friendly and accommodating. They have a huge patient load, and that makes the wait times long sometimes, but that is out of their control. Great people.
Finally got a doctor that actually understands how the body works, biology, chemistry, physiology, etc., And that I can actually talk to about these things and we both understand!!!
They do their best. So i went to pharmacy about a month ago. This veteran is straight up screaming at this pharmacy clerk. Btw, his prescription was for cialis. He made it very clear as he yelled like the sh!tbag he was, over his penis pills. Thank you WA VA you’ve been nothing, but good to me.
Beautiful campus and great staff. Roy and Robert you guys are the _hit you know what to do and who call to help. Thanks you guys
Great care as usual. Was able to see my Dr at my appt time. Never have any problems!!!!
Not much of a wait in the lab. Got it on the first stick. A good experience.
Be aware there is a detour on the route to the VA. VA currently doescovid screening as well. Be sure to give yourself at least 30 minutes extra between the detour and screening
It was quite a wait but got what I needed done, good place to go if you’re sick!
The staff is always courteous, respectful, and professional. Update – Still providing friendly, courteous service.
The Women’s Clinic is superb! Great, caring medical providers, excellent COVID-19 safety precautions, great customer service and great VA facility all around 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Thank you so much! …
As most hospitals there are long waits. However the staff at the front could use some personality increase.
Been working at VA for 11 years I’ve learn to make the best where I work at. There are challenging moments, but for the most part I can not complain.
Allow extra time for COVID 19 screening, especially first thing in the morning. It took 45 minutes today before I could park. Also, you must wear a mask, and do not bring more than one caregiver or family member.
Everytime I have to come here it is always a nightmare. Appointments take forever to get off you are even lucky enough to get them.
VA American Lake is an amazing hospital for us veterans. The staff have been professional and caring, there trying to save my life. God bless them.
Typical government structure in times of supposed need . Over protective environment to protect us against something that doesn’t exist . Required too wear masks that wo t stop bacteria let alone a virus . No appts available for at least …
If you need more than a bandaid or routine care you will have to ask for community care. Women veterans are given 2 choices either take it or leave it just like the 80’s. Hard to get into to see a doctor.
I called in because they sent my pills to a different location so I reordered my pills again they had them ready for me in no time it was fast they did a excellent job.
Hopefully the pendemic will end at American Lake or perhaps we’re going to turn it into a museum for all the heroes that it served since 1944 or 43 the beautiful campus has everything a general would want but with medical help there’s …
VA needs to have more concered respect for there veterans There bathrooms are not for one in wheel chairs No way for them to get in or out I could see
Long waits for appointments or you don’t get in because doctors are leaving and they don’t care
I walked right in and was directed to where I needed to be. I inquired about procuring an ID and was made an appointment on the spot. Everyone was very kind and welcoming.
Referred to outside clinic for colonoscopy…they sent prescription over…va didn’t get it…faxed again, said pick up it is ready. I pick up, open at home and it is not what the prescription was for…great now I have to spend over $100 to fill it commercially. Such a pain
Getting better. Still must wear mask. Better safe than sorry.
They are screening for COVID-19 so get there early for appointments. The staff are very helpful and courteous and will assist you with all aspects of your appointment. Wait times vary but mornings are best.
Be careful if you are a GWOT veteran with long hair and bushy beard. The cops like to shake you down there. It has happened to me three times and on the 3rd time they stole my Garmin 550 GPS out of my glove box wile they were looking for …
This place has come such a long way. Back in 2005 things were so bad I quit going. Thank you to all involved in turning this place around. I truly feel as if the staff cares about me and all the other veterans that depend on them.
I always get outstanding care. Very professional and caring staff.
Only there to get my first of two covid-19 shot. They were pretty good organized.
Took awhile to find a empty parking spot, but what else is new.
The staff are very caring, attentive, professional, and prompt to take care of my needs every time I’ve had to go for tests, medications, & especially the doctors. I’m so blessed to have this facility to care for me!
Wonderful experience! Terri from the mental health department gave me all the information needed to start my medication process, along with some of the other benefits I am entitled to. Thanks Terri!
It’s the most challenging… the Covid-19 screening is super but the appointment system sucks. Seems no one to care. Today 26th Jun 2020 at approx 1130 hrs, I was attempting to contact Community Care Svs, numerous times from the previous …
Easy entrance with covid screening, park g is way easier now that non-patients are discouraged on campus. Shockingly efficient overall, loved my visit.
The intake lady told me to go to the urgent care clinic literally yesterday. Its closed has been for awhile. She also told me it will be weeks just to get a primary doctor. So I have no doctor still and no way to check out my back that was …
I had a video appt with an accused care Dr. Because my Dr left the VA. Wish she would move to primary care Dr. M gray was great and I felt like she was really looking at me.
I don’t like my primary team, quality of service is greatly reduced from what I have experienced in the past. Mental Health care is substandard, difficult to get appointments and then they waste your time, they cancel and don’t bother to let you know. I am planning on changing providers to a new CBOC opening this June in Puyallup.
BLDG #81 is where new Veterans will enroll themselves (and your dependents information); each department in this building have different hours but mainly open around 0730 or 0800; many of the staff workers are friendly and knowledgeable.
Took my husband to American Lake Va for a medical procedure. They required masks and asked us all kinds of questions before letting us go in. Dr. And nurses very professional. They really care about their patients.
Just love test this morning blood and urine went quickly and smoothly. Even though they only had one tech to work the front window and draw the blood but I got there early it was 07..
The VA puget sound system failed me. Others may disagree but I’ve had an awful experience from their services and especially the phone system. They referred me out to an eye exam and these people were rude, annoyed at my presence and didn’t …
Always a pleasure when I’m there. As of my visit, I was directed to a Covid screening. I assume no temperature check was done as I haven’t been in contracted or shown any symptoms of Covid or cold/flu. …
If I had to be in a hospital this hospital was a very good experience for me I don’t like being in hospitals but if you got to be there having a person or a bunch of people being good to you it’s really important it was in the covid unit 18 …
Went in for a CT today. I was in and out in 10 minutes. The Tec was very polite and had a great attitude! COVID-19 screening went smoothly. Stopped by the pharmacy to refill a prescription also went quickly!
They need to hire more doctors and nurses so they don’t have to cut veterans appts like they do. Some veterans need an appt every 6 months
Had an appointment at the optical clinic. Check in was easy, the ladies were right on top of their job. Had a seat and waited to get called back. Got the check up finished …
Where can I start. I have been trying to get an eye exam for over two months now. I was given a referral to see Community Care and it has not been resolved. I called Patient Advocate and was not given a call back until I reached out to the …
As a U.S. Navy Veteran, I have Medical Care here.
It is an old and a beautiful campus. Nearby is a public park at the amazing American Lake.
Well, I went to see the urgent care clinic, only to find out that they no longer had said clinic. The woman who helped me thought I might get a little mad about that (no sense getting upset over something I can’t control, eh?). She DID get …
The personal is very helpful. If you ask a person and they didn’t know the answer they we get a person who will be able to answer your questions or show you were you are suppose to go. Plus I seen the VA person escorted them to the place. …
They have done good for me so far. But have only had minor things done at American Lake.
I’ve always gone there for over 20+ years, they’re the BEST in town as far as I’m concerned. I’m a veteran so yeah I love the staff and my friends that I only see at the VA hospital.
I was able to go in, have my blood drawn and go out in less than 30 minutes!
Husband had to go in for some blood work that his Primary Doctor wanted. He has a new Doctor and so far we are very pleased with her.
Today was picking up meds for a infection.
I was very impressed over how nice the folks who work here were. Even two Police men offered to give me a mask without me even asking. Nice grounds too.
On Monday of this week I was called by the VA,I was told I had another primary care doctor. So they changed my doctor with out letting me know nothing.I think that the VA could have notified me properly by mail. That would have given me time …
Worst experience in VA I have ever had. I lived in Spokane for years. The VA in Spokane really do care for there vets. They anwer there phones and they get you in with in a reasonable time. Seattle VA treats you like cattle! And with the …
We were picking up prescription close to 5pm. There was a lot of parking space available. The pharmacy was actually pretty empty as well, we waited about five minutes before getting meds.
They took care of my husband quickly and efficiently. They listened to us and got him into a walk in for another appt, labs and x-rays. All that within 2 hours.
Not much wait time. VA very helpful. Care is very good. What I. Don’t like is waiting on the phone , sometimes for an Hour to speak to someone. This a problem for many Veterans. I recently had a Stroke, in the last 2 days have spent approx. …
So far, the VA has helped me think better due to counseling. They help keep my system under control with the proper meds and prosthetics. They helped me not pass out by installing a pacemaker. …
Clean, friendly environment. Took a walk around the grounds while my husband was having a procedure done. Beautiful
If you Don’t have an Appointment that’s Scheduled 3 months out, till you can See your Doctor. They won’t even Look at you as a genuine Human Being in Pain, Suffering they Will Not give you Any Service & Tell you to go to the Hospital/911. …
Absolutely no communication. Five primary care providers in five months. I happened to be one of the puppies that was picked by providers, and they leave for brighter pastures. Except for the one they seem to have removed from contact with patients, promote and move to Olympia, or Lacy in a office. AATW!
Feel lucky to be alive. Grateful for the excellent care i receive at VA Puget Sound. Would’ve succumbed to wounds long ago if not for the care by everyone here.
I mean if you reach out telling them your in a bad place an need care, plan a two month wait. On top of that plan to speak with 10-15 people in an attempt to get an appointment. Your far better off seeking private consultations at online clinics. As this place will make you pay mentally for just trying to get help.
