Salt Lake Community College Reviews ( 250 )

  1. New Salt Lake City Community College policy ONLY IN MATH “if you average 98 through out the whole math class and you don’t score 60 in the final exam then you Fail” WOW what kind of encouragement for students attendance… how is that …

  2. The Salt Lake Community College bookstore is right in the middle on the main floor of the Student Center building at the Taylorsville campus. This book store serves not only the students and helping them obtain their text books and supplies …

  3. Salt Lake Community College, or “slick” as we call it around here, is a great college and from what we have seen it produces great graduates in many of its programs. As a law firm we are not exposed to a significant variety of candidates …

  4. Salt Lake community college has gone down the dumps. They have bought into Pearson and no longer care about the education and the main focus is money. This school sets you up to fail.

  5. Salt Lake Community College has done a great job of providing a good general education without costing students the rest of their life’s salary. Small class sizes, excellent campus atmosphere, and flexible class schedules make this college …

  6. I have attended this institution for about 3 combined years with a two year break in the middle. I have had nothing but problems with their faculty and staff, their online programs and their poor use of funds. I set an appointment to meet …

  7. I went here for a few years. There were nonstop hassles with the financial aid and the speed at which the courses moved. They rush you through school and constantly get details wrong with your financial aid, scholarships and/or tuition. I …

  8. Started in the Computer Science program, then I switched and completed a Visual Art – Web Design AAS and now I’m finishing up my Computer Science AS so I can transfer to the Weber State University Bachelors program taught through the …

  9. Couldn’t ask for a better way to get my associates degree. I needed a school that was: affordable, had some online classes, worked with my schedule and my life, and would help me get started after a few years of being away from school. And …

  10. My son was a resident on TN until this summer. He joined the ANG and relocated to Salt Lake City as that is where they need him. SLCC told him financial aid and out of state waivers would take more than a month to process leaving him the option of paying out of pocket the out of state costs. I Do not recommend this school.

  11. I enrolled in Fall semester 2016 to take a couple of online classes. However, due to an emergency involving a family member’s mental health and caring for her dependant alongside working full time, I had to drop out of that semester before …

  12. My experience here has been mixed. I am taking Associate’s classes in Computer Science to help with my career, although I already have a Master’s in an unrelated field. Most of my teachers have been fantastic – highly knowledgeable, …

  13. I first went to the art institute to learn animation. Then I found out that I could go to slcc for not even half the price. and guess what. The classes are BETTER! if you’re into art and film stuff, slcc is the place to be. They just barley …

  14. Murray High graduation ceremony was held here. The seating is not very comfortable but more importantly the temperature (HOT) of the facility is extremely bad. Everyone throughout the audience was trying to fan themself down due to the negligence of the facilitator.👎🏻👎🏻 …

  15. My son attends the ECCLES LAB SCHOOL FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT, so this review is for that, not the college itself. This school is amazing! The teachers were very good with my clingy, sensitive 2 year old, and now at 2 and a half he …

  16. $3 for a small soda is pushing six flags or Disney for cost. I get it, you have high school students taking classes at the college who don’t have transportation, so it’s a target rich environment, but that’s still a lot of dough.

  17. Great teachers, great classes. Super cost effective if you’re looking to get stuff done before transferring to a University. But, they have the worst website I have ever used. They still use portals which are super messy, hard to learn and …

  18. Library staff was very helpful.
My grandchildren loved their visit. Quaint little snack and premade sandwich nook. Books are easy to find using the Dewey Decimal call numbers.
Clean well stocked RESTROOMS should the need arise.

  19. Worst math department. They have no math teachers that can teach or answer a question. They won’t explain anything. Who ever is in charge of the math department needs to go. I took a half block math class and got a b but the final test I …

  20. I must admit I had an AWFUL experience on 5 days ago (at Paul Mitchell) and long story short my hair was orange. The staff was extremely apologetic and got me back in as soon as possible and the new girl that worked on my hair did such a …

  21. Absolutely amazing!!! I’d give it 10 stars of I could! Professors are very smart, friendly, and good at teaching. Many options for financial aid for the poor, and very easy to understand what you need to do to graduate. WiFi is set up so …

  22. My experience going here was ok several years ago. However, tuition has tripled since I was last here. I’m also coming the to conclusion that this institution leaves you dangerously under prepared for the demands of a 4 year program. The …

  23. This review is specifically intended for the SLCC bookstore. I have never encountered such a damagingly high degree of what can only be described as utter incompetence as in my experiences at the SLCC bookstore. Upon further investigation I …

  24. My cars been keyed twice and I just started here. What am I really paying for? Just to come here and the parking lot is far game for mr car to get vandalized. Aslo the boys locker room needs to be cleaned asap.

  25. I’ve had a decent time at Salt Lake Community College, but a recent experience has left me less than pleased. I registered for a class that didn’t end up being what I needed for my degree. When I went to un-register for the class, well …

  26. If I could give zero stars I would. The experience with them has been nothing but horrible. They’re always passing the buck as to who you have to deal with and who’s fault it is. We had to complete our fafsa four different times because …

  27. The Worst college in the state of Utah. Horrible staff. Beware of the low class woman BULLIES who work in the W.Jordan testing center! They will treat you like a piece of garbage and humiliate you in front of everyone. I was very pregnant …

  28. The Salt Lake Community College Bookstore is terrible. They sold me a defective book with a misprint, and I didn’t notice this until I reached the end of the textbook. At the end of the textbook was a book page that I could’ve printed from …

  29. It’s pretty good for a College book store.
One word of caution; if you plan on reselling your books back, make sure you don’t miss the small window of time to do so. If you wait more than one semester, …

  30. Honestly the worst since this semester (Spring 2019). Everything is way more expensive, and they refuse to fix mistagged items as they “were here before the switch to the new company). New employee attitude is pushy and somewhat aggressive, …

  31. I enjoyed my educational experience with Salt Lake Community College. The class schedules are set up in a way that allows anyone to attend at almost any time. I worked full time and attended part time for most of my schooling and it was great.

  32. I have previous BA from the University of Utah. I’m just at SLCC to take a few classes. I couldn’t disagree with negative reviewers (like Christopher Abell from last month) more. I’m extremely impressed with the quality, cost, and support …

  33. Been going here for 6 years, have not made any lasting friendships. You go here, pass your classes, and move on. Tuition is expensive, parking is a bit of a hassle, and there are almost no on-campus food options past 5pm. If you are a night student, better eat before you get on campus.

  34. This school is a great two year college. I enjoyed my courses and didn’t have problems with any of my professors. However, the financial aid office is ridiculously unhelpful and rude and they make affording college quite difficult. …

  35. The lifetime activities center says it’s open to the community but simultaneously gives you the middle finger with parking enforcement. Metered parking only and it’s always full. Almost wasted my money on a membership – glad I didn’t.

  36. The staff tend to be very helpful and willing to assist. The instructors (for the great majority) are very…warm. They are passionate, they make themselves very available, and are very down to Earth. I wish SLCC could expand to getting a Bachelor, because I’m going to miss it once I transfer.

  37. Everything from financial aid to admissions to parking is a joke. This place has the worst case of bureaucracy I have ever seen. Any time you ask someone a question they tell you they cant help you and to ask someone else. I went back and …

  38. Fall of 2017 has been incredibly awful here. Very little food available in the student center. Most of the cafe is closed. Wifi is terrible as well as in the technology building, in the tech building they have no instruction on how to use …

  39. They give tickets for being in their parking lot for less then 30 minutes. Yeah cause the last thing a struggling student needs is a ticket. Especially at Christmas time. Thanks SLCC.

  40. One of the best college ever!!!!!! Advisors are very friendly and helpful. There are materials and the joy a person need to success at slcc and everybody is willing to help each other.

  41. Testing center construction is ridiculous, during testing there was continuous drilling into walls and other extremely loud noises. I could tell I was not the only one annoyed/distracted by this. I don’t know how they see that it is acceptable to continue construction during testing hours.

  42. Overall a really good facility for what it is: a community college intended to give a basic education at a fairly cheap price. Not fantastic, not the ritz, but it gets its job done well. For the most part, you can make it through the …

  43. Awful experience. I actually give zero stars but it won’t let you post with zero! Instead of advising me at the beginning of the semester when financial aid is DUE, they told me ONE MONTH before spring semester ended that my financial aid …

  44. This school is full of losers. The students couldn’t get accepted anywhere else and the instructors couldn’t find a job at any real university. I took a couple of classes here and wished I had not wasted my time and money. The bookstore is …

  45. I love this college! I have graduated in spring 2017 and still taking some classes. College offers very flexible class options. I have managed to work at two jobs while I was at the college. Beautiful library(open late), free access to …

  46. I love this college. I only wish that the community college was a 4 year institute. Every professor I’ve had is awesome, and loves their job. The campus(es) are beautiful, and the tuition is on par with something most students can afford. I …

  47. Where great professors go to get their start. The behind the scenes stuff isn’t as good as their classes the advisers are really overwork as are the staff but they do all that they can for their students. I’m very glad I got my associates here before moving on. I preferred classes at the South City and Library campus’s.

  48. Decent community college. Buildings are aging quickly, but the school is trying to provide quality opportunities for students who might not otherwise be able to attend college. Like most schools, you get out of it, what you put into it.

  49. Average at best. Staff loses online pick up orders a lot, most the time it goes to Taylorsville even if you request it sent somewhere else (at least according to the bookstore staff). Staff is not overly helpful and got pretty annoyed when …

  50. Paid for the application fee but never signed up for the program I inquired about. Months later I get a bill in the mail demanding over $400 with a late fee on it. Called the school and they told me to get a letter from the teacher saying I …

  51. They have a great range of classes and class times, but the entire application process is needlessly confusing. A few years ago I attempted to go to school, and use Federal Financial Aid, and they had a horrible system in place for helping …

  52. This campus is probably the best one to attend if it isn’t too far out of the way. All of my teachers have been amazing with the exception of one of the programming teachers. Small campus makes it pretty easy to get around. Cafeteria isn’t to bad either! A benefit of this campus that that everyone vapes, so the air smells kind of fruity

  53. I think it was fine overall, but the worst part was getting started. I was treated terribly on the phone by almost all of their staff and ran into nothing but snarky remarks and was talked down to a lot. However, once on campus and in …

  54. The teacher I got was really nice, the school layout and try to get things solved is kind of confusing. Also easy able to go to spring semester because they made a mistake on my transcripts and took 2 months to fix.

  55. Such a big place, was hard to figure out where to go on the first day. The student center was great at directing me to my classes and gave me a map to show me my classes. All my professors here were great, one thing is the tools they had …

  56. Do not trust advisers they will try to take you millions of classes you dont need. Their libraries are useless 30 minutes trying to log in i to a computer. Printing services have dated softwares. Come on slcc

  57. A great bang for your buck. Most of the staff really does care. The one wild card seems to be math and science teachers. Use rate my professor to find a good instructor.

  58. My experience at this campus has been one of the worst I have ever been through. My financial advisor made me wait an hour and a half to tell me I’d have financial aid for fall semester, only now to find out he had not sent the paperwork …

  59. I love this school! The small class sizes are wonderful, I have had nothing but fantastic teachers, and it is really cheap! Everything from my peers, to the marketing and involvement of the staff is fantastic. The only thing that I didn’t …

  60. Absolutely the worst place you could ever choose to go to. The price isnt right, your bureaucracied to death, the professors are irresponsible and inexperienced and just picked up off the street with no experience and the staff are …

  61. We attended an event here For my daughter’s graduation,it was hotter than hell, the seats were the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in and to top it off the ada access was poor

  62. In looking back about two years later, I loved SLCC. I had wonderful, caring, helpful, knowledgeable professors who were every bit as good or better than those I had moving on to a 4-year university. The Redwood campus I attended was clean, …

  63. A community college is exactly what this place is. Don’t expect much in the way of amenities, or the like. The place has the feel of a big high school, with older kids. But the price is right, and the schedules accommodate most any work schedule.

  64. Haven’t started yet but every single time I call in or try to get anything done with them, they are incredibly unhelpful. Staff is always rude and condescending when I call in or go in. It’s really disappointing and discourages me and …

  65. If anyone tells you SLCC is a great place to go because it’s cheaper, they’re not doing you a favor. You get what you pay for. If I had learned that in High School I would have saved myself the pain of this place

  66. It’s okay. It’s cheap. They have a good gym and a basketball court. That’s all I really remember about this college. They need to fix that one tricep pulldown machine though.

  67. This review is for the TRIO program. I joined this program for help in being more prepared for transferring schools. Went to all the meetings I could, during summer 2018, I tried to get into contact with TRIO about a campus tour, with no …

  68. As a SLCC student, this place has saved me trouble several times in the last few years! I often forget pencils, stationary, or occasionally chargers or wall fobs and this place pretty much always has what I need at a good price. Staff so …

  69. The staff were super helpful, I could not find a book and they took me right to it. Another time I was in they wouldn’t match Amazon’s prime price but I needed the book right then so had to pay more. They will also hold a book if you call them.

  70. Very bad first impression I drove 30miles to come to Taylorsville campus to meet with andsomeone to get started they cancelled with no notification and I paid for parking

  71. Absolutely love it so far. Love everything about it so far. It’s really good for a community college. If someone asks me where i go to school. I will proudly tell them i am a Bruin!

  72. I just graduated with my associates degree! SLCC was the place for me. Truly everything about it as an education experience was phenomenal. The class sizes were small, allowing me to get to know my professors and ask questions. The …

  73. This review is from a teachers point of view. We were fortunate enough to attend Skills USA competition hosted by SLCC. There was plenty of room for each event – only drawback is that during the snow and rain – walking to and from the room was far. Other than that – kids had a blast.

  74. It’s a great campus. I’m going back to school later in life and even I seem to feel like I fit in not being right out of high school early in my twenties check it out!

  75. SLCC is the most cheapest way to go to college. It makes it affordable and it made me able to further my education. The instructors here have always been friendly to me and my advisor has always been helpful for me

  76. This is a fantastic college for all kind of students. Looking to get their degrees, build on their careers, and overall get a fantastic education. SLCC has something to offer everyone!

  77. This place was amazing and had so much to offer even to myself as a potential but not current student. They had a little bit of everything. Only thing not stellar was the fact it is, in a sense, a convenience store and thus the prices on …

  78. Good place to be, and learn new things. I’m on redwood campus. In the applied science sector. The school campus is clean and quiet. Lots of equipment to learn on. Good tools. And instructor, is great.

  79. This review is not from a student point of view, rather as citizen in the community. My family and I have attended 2 activities this summer. One paid at affordable rate for the family, and one free. Awesome Summer activities for the family, …
