  10. The care & concerns of the staff as well as the super cleanliness of the hospital made for a relaxing stay for my husband’s knee surgery. In fact, I’m seriously considering using this facility as opposed to any other for my (2) knee surgeries.

  11. Process from start to finish was very efficient. Handled all checkin procedures during the pre-op. Spent less than 5 minutes in the waiting room and was moved to the (i assume) operation staging area. Then was moved to OR and awoke in recovery. Check out was easy, and I was on my way home.

  17. The staff was caring and professional. They informed me of my treatment plan and followed through. My one negative comment is that towards the end of my stay, I was questioning the next steps rather than being provided with the information. Overall if I needed a hospital I would choose South Bay.

  18. I dislike hospitals because the ones around me are just a bad experience, unlike this place. Nurses were friendly and kind and to give it a plus the service on the ER was fast. It’s not nice to visit a hospital while on vacation. But to my surprise I had a good time. Great job. 😊 …

  48. The facilities, staff and procedures were wonderful. I was seen almost immediately, and blood test was taken, as well as a CT scan. My one (non-trivial) concern is that the report that Dr. Shah wrote stated a diagnosis of COPD, while I have IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis), which is a VERY different disease.

They explained what they were doing and eased my fears. Everyone I came in contact with was friendly and reassuring. I thank them all for the care I received.

  136. Thank you to Dr Musser and Pre Op Crew and crews awaiting me to be admitted and going into Surgery!!! The OR and Recovery could not have been better and more professional !!! I walked into HCA South Shore Hospital and was told im no longer …

  137. Felt like all they were trying to do is run up my bill. They kept trying to get me to have more tests. Out right lied to me about having a heart attack. Then didn’t want to release me. Was about to call 911 because I felt I was being held against my will. Not a hospital I would recommend.

  138. Every single employee we came in contact with was pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. I was treated with kindness and compassion. Something I think that has become forgotten these days.

  139. My apt. was to be there at 7:30 but blue dye wasn’t there. Had to wait on it and was last in surgery in late afternoon. Fell it should have been there the day before surgery. Nurses all nice, great everything else.

  140. The pre-registration done via the web-portal made the admission process very easy. Everyone was helpful and friendly. My appointment was on time and everything was explained. This visit met my expectations.

  141. Went to HCA for my annual mammogram, and their staff and nurses are excellent with their service, care and expedience. I would highly recommend them to all women. Please get checked annually!!!!!!

  142. Very bad from the time I entered the emergency room til discharged the next day. Except for one nursing rotation the nurses were very unprofessional. Too much other things and not enough space to write it. 😪 I hope I never need to be admitted there again. …

  143. Not as good this time. I had to plead for a catheter. Friday, the catheter began to leak ! The floor was cleaned but nothing done about the leak. I was released Sunday. Sunday night I went to the ER and had the catheter replaced. ER staff was EXCELLENT ! I know staffing is short but is that an excuse ?

  144. The overnight experience I had at this facility was HORRIBLE! Dayshift nurses on 3rd floor not trained /capable of properly using equipment provided for hip replacement surgery patients. Night shift Nurse had a terrible attitude (she was …

  145. Some of the nurses were incredibly nice, but overall do not come here for professional care. They are understaffed and underprepared, I waited in the ER waiting room with no bed and an empty iv bag for 3 hours at least.

  146. Come here if you want to die. My mother went here for new onset hypertensive blood pressures near stroke level with tachycardia and they didn’t bother with a heart monitor at all. sent her home with blood pressures 180/ 105. Never gave …

  147. Totally agree with reviews who said this is the worst hospital in the area. My husband came with low oxygen and asthmatic cough. He almost lost his consciousness. All they wanted is to register him, to get his address and driver license. …

  148. I worked here would not recommend, all nurses quit in ER and floor nurses are running ER now still short staffed. 4 doctors also resigned from ER. The Director from ER was also fired. Management changes like the weather and there are no protocols.

  149. The entire staff which included Ruth, Ashley, Kim, Wilma, Annette (Pre/Post-OP), Beth (OR), Deb (PACO), Eric (CRNA), Dr. Sheth (Anesthesia) and Dr. Endri Affesllari (Surgeon) were all very attentive, knowledgeable, caring and professional …

  150. I was there in September 2022 for emergency abdominal surgery. The staff was amazing . The doctors were competent and confident the nurses and nursing assistants were phenomenal. Southbay hospital saved my life I have no doubt

  151. My emergency visit was great! The emergency staff were very knowledgeable and compassionate; they ensured they took care of my pain and were very thorough in their medical evaluation. Thank you all

  152. From the reception desk, to the registration and especially the Tech’s for the mamo and ultra sound were very courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and kept me aware of each step in a very timely manner. I enjoy have my test done there. Thank you!

  153. Went to the ER due to elevated BP and low O2. Was seen in triage by Dr who said he wanted chest x-ray and labs.. X-ray was taken then my husband was dumped back in the waiting room. Approx 3 hrs later I went back to triage and said you …

  154. The Nursing staff and other medical staff was excellent as expected.
However, the doctor assigned to my case was dismissive to my health concerns and projected an attitude of indifference. He also did not give me all of my …

  155. Scheduling for tests was very easy and accommodating. Staff from the initial reception to registration to the techs was outstanding. The hospital is super clean and the waiting area comfortable. A pleasant experience for a hospital visit.

  156. I’m newer to the area. Had emergent Lap Chole. The ER was fantastic! I was seen right away and had excellent care. Once I was transferred to a regular floor, the care was less than expected. Little communication, no pain meds. My surgery …

  157. We have used this hospital for years. Nurses and staff are great, but no cafeteria for supper. I find this unacceptable when your spouse is admitted and there is no cafeteria to eat .. especially when you would have to leave hospital and return. We will go somewhere else from now on.

  158. My husband had been a patient there several years ago, and as a retired RN, I felt nursing care was lacking as well as overall attention. too many drug caps, IV bag tops, med cups, etc, just flung to the floor by the nurse for housekeeping …

  159. Had a wonderful experience here. Just some same day surgery but the best hospital experience I’ve ever had. From the volunteer members, the nurses and the docs all just amazing in the way they cared and were very clear with Instructions. Normally I would not want to return to a hospital but if I had to this would be the one.

  160. My care was excellent during my stay at the hospital. There was however an issue with the air conditioning on the 3rd floor. It just was not working. I was naturally very uncomfortable because of this, I’m hopeful that it will be fixed when I return in six weeks.

  161. I would have appreciated more explanations about the procedure, what it entailed, how it would relate to my undiagnosed illness. As far as I could tell, the test was done according to the established protocol. I thought that it would have …

  162. I had taken a bad fall in a gravel, dirt and shell parking lot ripping the skin off my arm from the wrist to my below and a 4 inch laceration in my shin. The Paramedic/EMT spend over two hours picking debris and cleaning the wounds. They …

  163. While I was treated well by the nurses and imaging tech, and they were respectful of my pain; unfortunately, the doctor who came in to talk to me could use a few lessons in bedside manner. For somebody in a great deal of pain, it is not …

  164. My ER experience was good but my being admitted experience was not. I kept asking my nurses about antibiotics the attending Dr said I would receive and didn’t the lead nurse came to ask how my nurses were doing I said not bad but I was …

  165. Don’t bring your loved one here If you love them. Worst experience of our life. My Mom was brought in by the EMTs for blood pressure 225/117 & she laid in a hallway for 2 1/2 hours with no meds no nothing. Charge nurse RUDE when I ask why …

  166. I was extremely overwhelmed by the high level of care provided by the Hospital Staff. During the evening hours, when patients and staff routinely sit down for dinner, the Hospital CEO even found time in her busy schedule to visit my room …

  167. The nursing staff was really good. The management and the assigned doctor not so much. She kept putting off the discharge orders. The cardiologist said “Yes, go home” Dr. Ma wouldn’t sign off each time and ordered another test. Does HCA really need the extra money that keeps patients in the hospital longer than necessary?????

  168. I found the staff friendly, genuinely caring, and highly knowledgeable. During my surgery preparation, the nursing staff were gentle and were consistent at proving me information about they were doing. The doctors were very competent and had excellent bed side manners.

  169. Thank you to everyone that cared for me. Your hospital is wonderful and your staff are amazing. I want to offer a big thank you to everyone in the ICU unit. Jessica we love you, you were awesome! I highly recommend this hospital to anyone that ever needs care.

  170. On November 13, 2022 I arrived at south shore hospital with symptoms of covid which was soon by a nasal swab.I was to hospital treated me the with maybe not top shelf medicine because perhaps my symptoms did not call for it. However I was …

  171. The complete staff was amazing! I wish I remembered everyone’s name! Hannah, in the ER, was amazing! Michelle, my nurse on the 3rd floor, was a God send!! She and all the other staff were so comforting, caring, and genuine!! Oh yeah, the food was delicious too!!! Thank you to all cafeteria Staff!

  172. Nice room, good food, polite and helpful staff.
Several went above and beyond for me. Sam was in the operating room with me on Monday and when he saw me in the ER Tuesday, he stayed, even though he had signed …

  173. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had. ER was great, only one of my issues was dehydration. I was admitted and put on 3rd floor. The A/C was broken and had been for 3 weeks. I received no more IV fluids once I got to the floor. I drank …

  174. I arrived at the ER around 4:00pm, I was put in a filthy room and left there with no information until 10:00pm. Then a PA informed my I was being admitted but would spend the night in the ER due to lack of rooms. I didn’t see a doctor until …

  175. I was on vacation in Tampa when fell, trying to walk through the beautiful sand at the beach. Hit my face and blacked my eye on a boardwalk. Went to the emergency room because of a cut in my eyebrow. One stitch! But your staff treated me …

  176. Our stay was very good for the most part. We only had one concern.
Many of the nurses are unfamiliar with the hospital due to the fact they are floaters or students. I realize and am compassionate for the nurse shortage, but …

  177. The older women in the waiting area was so sweet and amazing at check in. Ruth (our precious English) nurse was great at taking dad back to pre-op. The code for text updates was super. Keeping me updated was so wonderful since I had my …
