First of all, they never pick the call. I was being said to call to resolve an issue never had my call picked up. Moreover, they are reluctant to resolve the problem.
I call so many times about my bill over charge but no any reply. And I m personally stop by office and office manager say we find out what happens .almost month over no any reply
I dont like how, most things have to be done in person, aside from initial set up, but i shouldn’t have to fill out paperwork for an extension, when I could call or go online.
I turned in the proper form to have my service discontinued when I moved out of my apartment and they proceeded to charge me for the entire month after I moved out.
These light bills and all is the same price as rent this is just too high their service is rude and everybody there keep getting fired for stealing they should just fire them all and start over you won’t spend half of the money they’re asking for with Ford County lights
I hope someone look into this issue the employees at this place are horrible very bad customer service my feeling are they know you need the service so they treat there customer very bad called and asked simple question when is my bill …
I mean really guys you really give the expression “good enough for government work” a new meaning. Most of the employees that work in the reception area probably dropped out of high school!
They have terrible service. They never answer the phone. They cut my utilities off even though I paid the bill and when I tried to call they lines were down (as always). The management is terrible and they don’t care about anyone.
Power went out on Sunday and I called to report the outage. i got a voicemail that’s full so you could not tell anybody or leave a message what address the power is out.
Outrageous rates and questionable meter reading. The only good news is that the staff is friendly in the office. They’ve always helped me as best they can. So I thank them for that and know they aren’t responsible for the ridiculous prices.
i’ve lived in a lot of places and this is the worst utility company i’ve ever had. customer service is awful. prices are high. too bad i dont have a choice about using them. i gave one star only because google wont let me submit a review with no stars.
I was out of town for a month and my bill was $400. I guess Goldilocks stayed while I was gone. Paid my bill yesterday, disconnected today, call to report it 3 hrs. ago and im still disconnected.I hate sed!
Customer service has gone way down hill. They won’t answer the phone or return phone calls. I managed to get a response via email but then they refused to follow up and I was left to figure it out myself. Glad to be done with them.
Zero stars not available. Staff in office are rude, power hungry, and extremely lazy. Human decency = unknown. Only reason they continue as a business is the monopolization of the community.
Charges extra to pay by card online. Payment center is in Birmingham, so billing issues through the mail aren’t resolved in Starkville. Experienced billing errors multiple times in two years.
Absolutely the very worst utilities service in Starkville. They don’t answer there emergency lines half the time and depending where you live, the water is ALWAYS brown. It’s DISGUSTING. These people should be put out of business.
We have called a ridiculous amount of times over the span of a week to talk to an operator so we can set up our utilities for the property we will be living in soon (about two weeks). No answer to any of our calls or messages.
You talk about customer service! There very rude! And you ask for a supervisor and you basically get the same type of service. No wonder their rating is 1.5 on scale of 1-5! Well it should be zero!
The rudest staff ever. They never return your phone calls and are not helpful. Their rates are through the roof and they show no mercy when you need an extension or can’t pay your overly expensive bill. I want to move out of the city limits just so I won’t have to have services with Starkville Electric
Worst part of living in Starkville. Incredibly inconsistent, told me our billing cycle is “not a set number of days” and that out bill will come out any time within 6 weeks of the end of the billing cycle….also they fail to maintain water …
Have never really had a good experience with them, when I’ve had a ticket in before I had to call 3 separate times over 2 weeks with no resolution. Overall, if I could choose what company I was with it wouldn’t be them.
Perfect example of a city monopoly. They charge outrageous rates for electricity, water, and sewage. My average bill for a 1200 square foot apartment is nearly $200 per month and I don’t use that much electricity/water. The water & sewage …
VERY RUDE AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT MAIL MY DEPOSIT BACK which I should have received 2 months ago. I called and no one picked my phone. I wonder if they were just planning to take my money without a reason.
I haven’t even moved into my new place and I already hate dealing with the company. Half the staff tells me one thing, while the other tells me something completely different. I needed my power turned on sooner than I had originally …
I went to the SED to set up my utilities today, a week after a knee operation. I am on a walker and not very steady still. I was helped by a wonderful woman named Koretta. She helped me when I was struggling and never had a negative thing …
I read closely the many reviews of SED. Since my mother died and through placing her home on the market and finally closing on the sale, I have talked to Chandra B. At Starkville Electric no fewer than 9-10 times. She has always been …
This company was horrible from the very beginning. I only had a 2-bedroom apartment that I only used one room in and my bill would run me about $200. Not only that, but the staff is not courteous at all. They are incredibly rude and …
Customer service is not a familiar term at the office for these people. Instead of listening to the questions concerning the issue, you get interrupted and directed to a weblink on a website that is either non-existent or broken. I hope …
I just experienced the third power outage within a period of 30 days. A light rain can cause an outage. It’s like living in a third world country with unreliable electricity and the staff in the building are rude and know they are the only way to get electricity in the city so they don’t care about fixing problems.
SED has gotten some pretty terrible reviews. I have never had one problem with them. The drive thru is super convenient, the few times I’ve had to talk to an employee they’ve been fair. Also, there was some sort of mishap where a nearby …
I have been waiting since August to find out why I was overbilled over 600$. I have left over 15 messages / when I reach someone they put me off on someone else and then I never get a response from leaving the new person a message. I went …
Agree with rudeness , one bad apple ruins the whole barrel.
Telephone operators sweet and helpful. And rates are reasonable.
I do not like that you must go in person to turn services on and to disconnect. …
The company was okay when I had service with them. This disconnect process is a nightmare. Rather than acknowledge any of my communications (emails, contact forms, and phone calls), they charge extra days and will not communicate with you. When you call, they say they will take care of the issue, but then they don’t do anything.
If I could give a 0 stars I would. Customer service is trash. Bill was late to getting me. Paid it asked the lady if there was a way to avoid that and she said don’t wait for the bill. Asked her another question and was answered with, …
Good luck ever doing anything without having to go in person to get anything taken care of. I can never get anyone to answer the phone. Even when I press ‘0″ to talk to the operator, I stay on hold 15 minutes or more. Even when you do go …
Just want to say thank you to everyone that got power back on, On this day. I wish i was rich enough to buy everyone dinner and drinks, but im just an average worker and very grateful for your awesome and speedy service . thank you again …
The rudest, most unfriendly staff. We pay our bill online and keep getting notices saying we haven’t paid, even though the online account says we have and the money is gone from our account. The other day they cut our electricity off …
Absolutely one of the worst companies I’ve experienced. They do NOT answer phone calls. What electric company lets the phones ring. I deliberately called with my phone in hand while walking into the building. Phones ringing, clerks sitting …
They often make mistakes when billing. Randomly stopped sending me paper bills and then Didn’t want to let me pay my bill because I didn’t have a paper bill for “proof”. Online portal messes up a lot and they took away option to pay by phone which was the only decent thing they have had.
I had to submit my service termination form through email because I was moving out during COVID-19 and the office wasn’t taking people. I received a confirmation email and everything, but no one ever actually canceled the service. I didn’t …

I am selling my house and had to change my bank account for unrelated reasons. They will not allow me to update my bank account over the phone to draft my payment. I cannot cancel the automatic draft. They are demanding that I either mail a …
Their payment website makes it very easy for you to make typos when entering your bank information when making payment by E-check. So when the payment does not go through because of you made a typo, they charge you $40 for a “Returned …
Staff is ignorant and rude. I imagine them being underpaid and untrained also factors in with it. Don’t call. Drive up there it’s like talking to a bunch of sticks in the mud.
They’re very rude!! Anytime I call and need help with anything that needs to be fixed, they ALWAYS got a attitude or act as if they don’t want to come fix the problem! Hate i gotta have my utilities through them
Bills are due two weeks after they generate it. They send it out at leisure though so even with perfect mail, you’re likely to get a late fee if you try to send it back by mail. Paying online (with an extra fee) is basically mandatory. …
Rude
Nickel and dime you over nonsense.
Website does not work.
Wonderful experience! Wonderful staff!
0 stars.
Goor luck getting them on the phone
Non existent customer service. Will not answer phone
Horrible experience EVERY SINGLE TIME. Staffs work there are extremely rude.
Lisa was very kind and easy to work with. Thanks again.
Took extreme measures to reduce my electric bill… and it still increased? PLEASE EXPAIN THAT S###!!
The worst customer service imaginable. You can call 5 times and never reach a person.
Literally impossible to get these people on the phone. When they do answer their phones they’re unhelpful and rude.
I’m sure the other reviews can tell you what I could type. Where is the zero stars button???
Don’t answer phone and when they do they are very rude. No customer service in office or by phone.
First of all, they never pick the call. I was being said to call to resolve an issue never had my call picked up. Moreover, they are reluctant to resolve the problem.
I have been waiting a whole month for someone to check for busted pipeline. I still have water just sitting in my YARD!
Rude staff who NEVER answer the phones. I can’t wait to move out of the city limits so I won’t have to deal with them.

Needs to be a more decisive way of reporting outages on weekends in order to have service returned in the most efficient timing…
I turned in the proper form to have my service discontinued when I moved out of my apartment and they proceeded to charge me for the entire month after I moved out.

Institutional Racism at it finest , not only to customers but to the current employees.
Online payment is the worst, expect to be typing in numbers for about 12 min, and if you mess up, you have to start over
