  1. My mother was here for a brain tumor removal. The staff were so friendly and caring to her. She felt in great hands with them, and truly appreciated their kindness. I cannot say enough great things about this hospital. I/We will be forever grateful for their love and professionalism.

  2. Extraordinary, compassionate care shown by every member of the Emergency Department staff, from nurses to doctor to the volunteer who transported me to Radiology for x-rays. There is a reason why VCU/MCV is so highly regarded throughout …

  3. Without a doubt the worst hospital I have seen in the country, and working nationally I’ve seen a lot. 14 hours to get my father a CT and an MRI following a car accident early in the morning. He was hungry and thirsty the entire time and …

  4. Mcv Hospital rate a five star. Now having said that keep this in your mind amd heart. The professional woman and men, the staff at large do a great job. Keep in mind when you receive care at this facility, you are not the only one seeking …

  5. My advise to anyone is to avoid this hell. This can not represent American. No one can assume our tragedy story. This hospital needs hospital. It needs another doctors another nurses another everything. Our story was at 10th floor in the …

  6. Not the Best Hospital when you’d expect the same doctor for Progress Notes, Disability Claims &/or simply- Comfort. Because it’s a Medical College, alot of the schedules will be done by Understudies & Assistants, hardly ever seeing the same person on consistant appointments.

  7. Horrible. I went today as my girlfriend was losing a large amount of blood from her woman parts. We sat an hour as she bled on the waiting room table and they only handed her pads. All women behind the desk that is a shame. I had to curse …

  8. This place kind of makes you feel you’re not important. I went to get an xray of my chest and I told them my shoulders and chest hurt so much I couldnt raise them to much and the nurse was a little to rough with my arms for my liking to …

  9. VCU healthcare system should consider pausing any advertising they currently have until they become a patient-centered and patient-friendly hospital. I wish I could give zero stars so I suppose I can give them some credit with the one star for their effort in hiring and including music therapists on the interdisciplinary team.

  10. Wonderful medical attention received in 3/17/2017. Suffered severe TBI after bicycle/car collision. Received wonderful medical attention!!
    Thanks to all!!

  11. The worse hospital i never ever seen my father stayed in the hospital almost five months for done operation and after he done he stays first for a while than they transfer him to other facility with a liar report he had fever .. …

  12. Terrible I’ve been here for over a week with no clue what they are doing I am left in the dark about everything i have no clue what they plan on doing with me could careless how much pain you are in only way to get anything done is by …

  13. Suffered from a spinal cord injury, spent a great deal of time in the ICU and then in the rehabilitation unit and what I had learned during my stay is that most of the staff are very under qualified. Don’t expect to get decent treatment and …

  14. If your life is on the line, this is the ONLY hospital you want to be at in Richmond. And it’s so good, they fly folks in from all around the state all day long for trauma services. …

  15. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE.. NURSES ARE NOT LIKE THEY USE TO BE THEY ARE YOUNG WITH NO PATIENCE JUST IN THE NURSING CAREER FOR THE MONEY.THEY NEED TO LEARN ON HOW TO TREAT OLDER PATIENCE WHO RALLY CAN’T SPEAK UP FOR THEM …

  16. Was in this facility for an extended amount of time in 2011-2012, extensive orthopedic surgeries, neurology checks, physical therapy, internal surgeries etc. from a car accident. The staff was great, the surgeons that I had the chance to …

  17. If you have a car accident and you’re badly mangled in the Richmond area, this is your place. Anything less than that, try one of the other hospitals out in the suburbs. You’ll be treated more humanely there. …

  18. Staff seems friendly, cafeteria is nice, parking is a nightmare. Heard more “I don’t know…” and “I’m not sure…” than I was comfortable hearing from a group of medical professionals.

  19. Best Hospital in Virginia, just walk from 1 building to another with a visitor badge on & start looking around. No matter where you are, someone with a VCU badge will ask you if they can help with anything. This positive energy will follow you at every level of service you experience while at the hospital.

  20. One of the best hospitals I have ever been to. They have one of the bet Sickle Cell Clinics in Virginia. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone that’s in the Richmond area.

  21. The absolute worst hospital I have ever been to. Good luck with trying to find a place to park. The waiting room was very dirty and run down. My wife was very ill with 4 different medical conditions and was experiencing a severe amount …

  22. Nurses are amazing but place is dysfunctional and have seen a doctor for 15 mins across being here for 24 hours plus they won’t be transparent about what is wrong with me… disappointing to say the least

  23. Worst hospital I have ever been too. My wife is here and they told me she was getting discharged so I drove 4 hours and then they said sorry not today we have to do tests.if I could give zero stars I would

  24. My friend had surgery where she was supposed to be PUT UNDER and these mother****ers did not do their job and she was literally talking to them and sobbing saying that she could feel it and it hurt and they didn’t do anything. If you are thinking about going here for medical issues, do not.

  25. I cannot express how truly awful this hospital is. Countless mistakes and errors made by nurses and doctors. I feel it ultimately led to the death of our loved one

  26. This might be a great facility but with some of the worst nursing care if you can’t care have empathy for your patients than you don’t need to be a nurse my niece is admitted due to SICKLE CELL CRISIS will not received pain medication on …

  27. Discriminated against. None of the staff helped or cared . 3 white people got seen before me, even though i was there for almost 2 hours waiting .. i guess if i die from not being able …

  28. The only good thing about this hospital is the trauma center. Several other hospitals in the area are much better to go to for anything else and you will be seen much quicker. The ER here is a joke. It is not uncommon to be waiting for several hours before you are seen.

  29. Doctor told me that she wouldn’t not prescribe me medicine for my bv because i was pregnant which is common in pregnancy, then another nurse had to do it, the excuse they gave me was she was having a bad day. If you have a history of mental …

  30. My boyfriend came in with shortness of breath and chest pain. There was no EKG done, no cardiologist check. We sat in the ER for 4 hours without being seen. The man next to us had just gotten a pacemaker and was having chest pain and heart …

  31. This is the worst hospital ever. Sat for almost 4 hours and no doctor had come to examine anything nurses do not check on you and they ignore you when you press the bell I literally had to ask for help 3 times I hate this place will never go back terrible service horrible rude staff such a disgrace

  32. I want to thank mcv for saving my life cause god knows what I had to endure at another hospital so with that being said I would like to thank the nurses that took care of me first my ER nurse MAGGIE when I went to my room I met KATIE B. I …

  33. Nurses are good but not this sharing a room. A curtain is not enough privacy. I have my own issues to deal with and have the next persons too. You ask for a private room and it’s never available and your only other option is to pay for one $500 a night. It’s just outrageous.

  34. Told by urgent care I needed to be seen at the Emergency Department for a breathing treatment. 4.5 hours later and I still haven’t seen a doctor. I had to be driven here by a family member so, not only am I going to be tired in the morning, so will she because apparently “difficulty breathing” isn’t that much of any emergency here.

  35. My surgery went fine and the nurses were sweet. Covid restrictions are in place. It’s a very clean hospital. Dr. Sullivan did an awesome surgery. I highly recommend VCU Medical Center.

  36. The Doctors, Nurses and staff were excellent, took very good care of me and was very knowledgeable of my rare medical condition. I felt at ease in there with competent people taking care of me. My care partner Ms. Ada went above and beyond in the Joint Reconstruction Floor. Dr. Purdue is awesome 👏🏾 …

  37. I hope no one gets treated like they treated me here. I understand this is during the pandemic but when you are told that you need to see your dying father cause he wasnt going to make it and waiting hours cause there was a two person limit …

  38. Tried charging my insurance $20,000 for an outpatient MRI and endoscopy. Absolutely ASININE. The Virginia Health Information network says this should have cost $6000, tops. What good are medical cost transparency laws if the hospitals are going to bill you whatever they want anyway?

  39. I would give no stars if I could. Go to any other hospital if you can. I would literally prefer to die over being hospitalized here again for any reason. My records were lost, billing confirmed my identity over the phone at least 4 times …

  40. Best Resident Doctors and Best Cafeteria among Richmond Hospitals.
This hospital follows strict COVID protocol, only one person is allowed to visit the patient each day, no overnight staying. At first I felt inconvenient, but …

  41. Do not go to this hospital. The emergency room is horrible, it’s disgusting and poorly run. After waiting 8 hours to get a room with high blood pressure and chest pains…they treated me for upset stomach and kicked me out. I’m not …

  42. This hospital was the absolute worst. Nurse took my medicine out of my bag and after claiming to have put it back, she never did. I called the hospital multiple times trying to get my medicine back due to it being something I need daily and …

  43. Care was stellar every step of the way. From the Emergency Dept. to the surgical team overnight, to the Day Surgery recovery staff, my care was off-the-charts exceptional. I cannot thank everyone enough for the care provided to me. Absolutely amazing!

  44. I want everyone to see this let me say that I can’t wear a mask due to medical issues two of which are on CDC guidelines of not wearing a mask even though I look normal. I was never ugly to the security guard up there but him yelling at me …

  45. My Mother’s Drs and Nurses were great.. However, I am quite upset that they would not admit her and complete the tests and biopsies they recommended, to see what is causing her Hemo blood to drop. We were told they could not do that, and …

  46. I recently had my appendix removed by another hospital. That was my mistake. Whenever I need surgery I will come back to this hospital. The expertise, professionalism, knowledge,& experience I had at this hospital was just remarkable. The …

  47. 10 years ago and I still compare my 12 day experience to being held captive at Guantanamo Bay. After a horrific car accident, I spent all my time either doing nothing, no treatment (just a bunch of inattentive doctors in transition), …

  48. My father was a patient in the Security Care Unit at this hospital about a month ago. He spent two months in the care of some amazing nurses there. They went above and beyond to provide comfort and care during my fathers final days on earth. I will forever be thankful for the wonderful care they provided to my father along the way.

  49. Worst hospital I have ever had to deal with. Will not update you, leaves patients with no information or care for hours, any staff I deal with is incombident on how to use their own systems, all round a terrible hospital.

  50. I was rushed here via ambulance and treated. My nurse was pretty snazzy and my doctor was delightful. I was held overnight which I didn’t not want to be and fed chow which to my surprise was delectable. When I was freed it was a maze to get so you need to change this now.

  51. I can’t say enough good things about this hospital
I had to get chemo once a month for almost a year and every single time I was treated with care and patience. All of my nurses and Doctors were amazing

  52. they saved my life so thank you for that BUT they claimed that they don’t “have my belongings” when infact they did because my ID and insurance is in their system. They have also given my personal belongings to someone because someone keeps …

  53. I hate mcv. I have had BV for two weeks and had to be seen twice to even find out that it was bv. During my visit the nurse practitioner told me that if my results came back positive he would call in an antibiotic. Well its been 3 days and …

  54. They have state of the art equipment. The staff have been nice. This is much better than when I had one of my children here when they showed no compassion or empathy. This stay would have been 5 Stars until I had to keep calling Room …

  55. There is a nurse in the colonoscopy suite names Lashay Spears that likes to play a power trip & threaten to deny patients treatment for rescheduling their colonoscopy. She lies when you report her & says she never threatened to deny you care. She needs to be fired.

  56. This was the most horrible experience I ever had giving birth. I had my last two children there and they are twins. I was in pain the whole time I was there and they were not properly giving me pain medicine as well as leaving my children …

  57. the worst visit ive ever had at a hospital. i came in at around 10:00 p.m tonight almost passing out from a hand injury as the woman at the desk took my information as she decided to ask remedial and unimportant question such as “is your …

  58. After having a seizure, the emergency department kept my sister waiting for 10hrs+, A neurological disorder and she was left in a hallway for hours. Even after she spoke to a dr. and got a ct scan she was told by the nurse to read her own results on my chart. This place is ridiculous and unprofessional.

  59. My grandma had to go to the hospital because of a fall, and not feeling well overall. She was taken to VCU, and we had never had an experience there before and had high expectations bc we heard good things. My mom went up to be with her, …

  60. There has been a $6,000 dollar discrepancy between my VCU Health Bill and what Aetna says I owe since 08/01/22. My account has been “under review” by the billing department since September. I call every 10 to 14 days and each time the …

  61. This is by far one of the WORST hospital experiences I’ve had.
My doctor IS (as I’m still a patient)racist and changed my pain regimen just because he doesn’t like black people. …

  62. This place has traumatized me to the point to where I immediately had to seek therapy… I’ve always heard disgusting stories about how black female patients were treated in the medial field but not being from Richmond I definitely didn’t …

  63. Nursing staff (main hospital 8th floor) has been great. Honestly shocked by the facility – we have been here a week and it is dirty – bathrooms not cleaned, trash cans not emptied, don’t want to touch anything. Food trays left in rooms …

  64. I have never in my life even imagined something like this could happen to anyone. I had the possibly most tragic experience in my life today. I lost control while driving in the highway at 70mph due to increased heart rate and chest pain …

  65. The staff was amazing, they always checked up on me if I wanted water or a blanket. And the nurses who took care of me were so sweet and professional. The only part I didn’t enjoy was the wait time, but hey it’s a hospital they are always on their feet helping other patients who are in critical care

  66. Had to have a MRI done and the staff members were patient! The waiting room was very clean along with thw bathrooms. If you park in the Children’s Hospital you can get free parking as long as you get your ticket validation before leaving on the 2nd floor. They also have a Panera Bread and Chic FIL A in the location!!

  67. Provided transportation for a friend to and from MCV this morning for outpatient surgery. I’m extremely pleased with the efficiency and professionalism and communication I’ve received from the nursing staff. The Ambulatory Surgery Center …
